Finish game without using continue
This last achievement will, without a doubt, be the final one you earn. Playing through all the levels without using a continue can be difficult. You'll need to practice, memorize the levels, enemy apperances and their respective fire patterns. While there are countless videos online detailing how to do this, here are some helpful tips that I used to complete the game without using a continue. First things first, change the difficulty down to easy. The achievement can be unlocked on any difficulty, but why make it any harder, right?

Secondly, you'll be playing in "Arcade", as you have to play from the beginning to the end without continues. There are no shortcuts on this one. With that being said, let's look at the levels.

Level one starts you in the desert. Right away you'll encounter your first batch of enemies and two POWs. Rescue these two prisoners to recieve your first power-up: the heavy machine gun. As you head into town, rescue the two POWs on the roof (they'll fall down to you) to pick up some grenades. Either save these for the boss or use some of them on the convey truck that appears off screen immediately after. Destroying the truck will net you another boost in ammo for your heavy machine gun. Use the truck to climb to the roof of the following building and rescue the POW for another cache of grenades.

You'll encounter your first mini-boss, the Mosque Artillery, which is comprised of three towers that shoot slow-moving rockets. You should still have your heavy machine gun (assuming you didn't squander it) so take aim and dispatch each tower. You shouldn't have any issues doing so. Once you've cleared the tower, make sure to jump on the camel and make good use of it.

After picking up the camel, you'll encounter a platoon of helicopters and then the boss, The Keesi II, a VTOL gunship. This first boss is relatively easy. upward and pound away at it with the camel's guns, making sure to avoid the enemies that come down. Be very wary of the enemy swords that fly upward when they die, as those can hurt you; once they fall and are planted in the ground, they'll disappear. When the ship receives enough damage, soldiers will start appears up top and shoot down towards you, as well as the ships thrusters firing downward and moving side-to-side.

Just follow the ship back and forth and avoid the thrusters and you'll be fine. The start of level 2 will reward you with the Super Shotgun in the very beginning from the first POW on screen. Before destroying the TNT keg, just on top and fire above the tomb. This secret will reward you with two POWs, one of which gives you a cache of grenades. Now, destory the keg and proceed inward. here you'll encounter mummies, which have a spit attack that can turn you into one. While this doesn't kill you, playing as a mummy is difficult. Being hit with the spit attack while mummified will kill you. Either shoot them from a distance, or crouch in front of them and melee them; they will take several hits from handguns, knives or heavy machine guns. The Super Shotgun from the beginning will eliminate them in one shot though.

As you proceed, you'll encounter tombs which spawn them. Dispose of them quickly and either pick up the Flame Shot from the first tomb, or rescue the two hanging POWs to refill your Super Shotgun ammo. At the end of this section, six mummies will spawn from the sands; kill them and rescue the POW above to earn another ammo boost for your Super Shotgun before proceeding forward.

In this next area, avoid the bats, as they drop more of the mummification potion on you from above. As you platform above, make sure to time your jumps to avoid dying and remember to not only dodge the boulder up top, but the final jump as well; a mummy sits on the end so don't jump into his venom.
At the end of the level, you'll encounter your second boss fight, Aeshi Nero, a giant mechanical excavator. This is the easiest boss fight due to a glitch if you want to exploit it. Once you climb into the battle mech, climb up and collect the chests. You'll find three heavy machine gun power-ups, followed by the final chest, which is just a point bonus. Once you collect the final chest, jump up to the next ledge, then immediately fall down to meet the boss. If done correctly, it won't move, letting you kill it without any work. Easy enough, right?

Level 3 takes you back to fighting soldiers, opening up on a moving cargo train. Pick up the POWs onboard (can't miss them) and get the heavy machine gun power-up. Nothing terribly difficult for the most part; just make sure to save some of your machine gun for the boats as you cross the train and to rescue the POWs for refills to your machine gun. Otherwise, just keep moving forward.

Once you get to the end, time your jump properly on the next train cart (note it moves back and forth) and proceed onward - take caution when jumping on the roof, as the rifle soldiers will come out from cover and fire on you. Jump in the airplane when it comes on screen and use it's gun to dispatch everything in sight, making sure to stay above the other aircraft, as they drop bombs below. The third boss you'll encounter is the Dragon Nosuke, a quadruped tank. This boss is real easy.
The main weapon is the gatling gun mounted at the front, which can target much of the area in front of it, so when it fires it, go underneath and fire at its belly. When it stops, come out and fire at the front; rinse and repeat. Once it takes enough damage, it will fall on the train periodically and fire balls of fire. When it does this, stay back and fire from a distance. During the fight, an NPC will appear and reward you with gas (life) for your plane should you need it.

Once you defeat it, level 4 will bring you back to the city. Stay on top of the balcanies and rescue all the POWs on screen to stockpile heavy machine gun ammo and grenades. Use it and grenades to remove the double-decker bus blocking your path just a short distance in. In the buss wreckage, you'll find the rocket launcher, so make sure you don't miss it.

Use the rocket launcher to dispose of the boats blocking your path and proceed onward until you find the Metal Slug tank. You should have no problems decimating everything in your path with the tank up until the main boss fight. Level 4's boss is the Big Shiee, an amphibious tank.

All the side-cannons of the tank will fire 75mm APDS cannon shells constantly at the player, so you must keep moving all the time while shooting them. Once at least five and sometimes four cannons are taken down, the boss will show its main cannon, a short-barreled huge-caliber weapon which fires a large heavy shell. If you avoid the the shell and are above it when it explodes, you will be flung into the air which is a perfect opportunity to damage the large cannon with the one on the Metal Slug.
"Master of Metal Slug 2" Achievements
Once all the 75mm cannons are down, stay on the far-left side and the cannon won't be able to hit you, as shown here:

Once you damage it enough, the tank will move, but all you need to do is jump to avoid being hit. As mentioned above, the blast will launch you in the air, but not hurt you.

Level 5 sends you back through the city and against more soldiers. As usual, proceed forward making sure to avoid any gunfire and enmy bombs/rockets. You'll encounter rogue helicopters periodically, so make sure to make good use of your heavy machine gun. Head into the tunnel and pick up the laser from the freed POW and use it to quickly dispatch all the enemy helicopters and then the enemy train/tanks from the right.

As you mow down countless soliders, you'll encounter two more trains so make sure you save some grenades or machine gun rounds for them. However, you can destory them with just the handgun if you're quick with the trigger. Towards the end you'll get another laser power-up before destroying the exit and proceeding forward. Here you'll face enemies that explode. The more red they get, the closer they are to exploding, so keep your distance and push forward as quickly as possible. Don't forget to turn the cranks for the Super Shotgun pickups and the Metal Slug tank. You'll need to keep the tank alive for the final boss.

The end boss here is Hozmi, a nuclear-powered submarine. The fight against Hozmi is similar to the fight with Tani Oh (from my Metal Slug 1 guide). It will fire a barrage of electric spheres at you in some patterns, like firing a series of electric sphere at the same time or firing electric spheres that follow the player, or even an electric sphere that stops in mid-air and then go straight at the player. It will also fire a deadly electric beam from the cannon.

Position yourself to the left-end of the ship and fire your cannons downward while firing your shells towards the tail end. Both will hit either side, doubling the damage output and making this fight go quickly. The electric spheres are slow and easy to dodge so you shouldn't have any issues with this boss fight.

The final mission, level 6, takes you to the snowy coast. Here you'll encounter more soliders, rockets andtricky jumps so timing is everything here. This mission will require some practice, so you might want to play it a few times on its own to master all the projectiles. Once you cross the bridge, Allen O'Neil returns as a mini-boss. He has the same attack pattern as the previous fight, but sans heavy machine guns on your part so make sure to watch his attack pattern and be liberal with grenades for him.

Once you enter the enemy bunker, pay close attention to the aliens above you. You'll find numerous power-ups (heavy machine gun/flame shot) and grenades so take the time to get them. As you proceed, you'll fight numerous aliens; much like the mummies, they take a few hits as opposed to the soliders you've been fighting so keep that in mind.

Power through them all and you'll wind up at the end game boss, the Dai-Manji/Rugname.
The Dai-Manji will send UFOs out the bottom as you shoot it. Hit'em with grenades right when they come out and they'll drop laser power-ups, making the fight much easier. You can typically get three of them during the fight and even a pig! Why not, right?
After sustaining enough damage, it will attach itself to the Martian Mothership, Rugname.

The Rugname's only weapons on the underside are channeled through the attached Dai-Manji. The Dai-Manji's deadly electric beam is replaced with a devastating laser cannon. Luckily, the cannon can only be aimed straight down, so it relies on its infinite supply of elite, extra-durable mini-UFOs for additional defense, but only a total of three will appear at any one time.

The Rugname's massive size makes it an easy target; all you need to do is aim upwards. Because the cannon will always hit the same spot, the larger threat is the unlimited horde of Mini-UFO gunning for you. Stay away from the main gun and grab the Metal Slug tank once it appears to quicken its demise. Head to the platform on the left of the screen to gain a bit of elevation. Here you can jump and shoot your cannon at any incoming UFOs while your tank's machine gun laces into the mothership. Once it's dead, pat yourself on the back; you just unlocked the last and most difficult achievement in the game!
