Otome Lovers
The First Steam Group for Otome Games

Otome Lovers, the first-ever Steam group dedicated to celebrating the enchantment of Otome games and beyond! We’re a fun and passionate community of players who cherish the captivating stories, unforgettable characters, and unique charm that Otome games bring to life.

Pre-release reviews

Our approach to pre-release game reviews focuses on empowering players to make informed choices. While pre-release reviews can sometimes be seen as spoilers, we view them as a way to set accurate expectations. Provided these reviews are spoiler free and clearly labeled, they help fans make confident decisions at critical moments. We always consult with a developer regarding the NDA and the materials we are permitted to use in our pre-release review of new games or demos of upcoming games.

Game reviews

We’re committed to providing honest, spoiler-free reviews that help players make informed decisions about new games. Our approach to reviews is unique, while some believe you should finish a game completely before writing a review, we feel that sharing our impressions based on partial playthroughs can be just as valuable. Our reviews reflect our personal experiences with the game, and we believe these insights can offer important feedback on its quality. After all, the beauty of Otome games lies in how personal and unique each player’s journey is. By sharing our experiences and being transparent about the routes we've explored, we can offer honest, thoughtful reviews that help others decide if a game is worth their time. We always make it clear which routes we’ve completed and whether or not we’ve finished them all.

The biggest reason we do this is because, by posting reviews early, we assist others in making informed choices about whether to purchase newly released games. Our goal is to return later, complete all the routes, and update our reviews accordingly. Waiting until every route is finished could delay essential feedback that helps others make quicker decisions. Being transparent about our progress allows readers to better understand the context of our reviews.

Guidelines for our curators

To address a past situation for transparency. After careful consideration we removed and are in the process of replacing several reviews from a former curator. Due to inappropriate conduct on social media, Discord and Steam, including slandering and spreading false narratives about our group. They also claimed a significant number of games without unfortunately fulfilling the agreed-upon reviews. To protect the integrity of our group and ensure fairness to all curators, and especially developers, we have implemented stricter guidelines to prevent misconduct of the imperfect Curator Connect system. Our priority is to maintain a trustworthy and collaborative community.

It's interesting to see how our review format has influenced others in shaping their own style. Quality often serves as a strong foundation for creativity.

Im not into voyeurism… I’m just very, very neighbourly.

Storyline:

In Cellveillance, you play as a building manager in debt, forced by a secretive organization to spy on your tenants through hidden cameras in their apartments (some you have to sneakily place yourself). At first, it feels like simple snooping, but as the stories unfolds, you uncover a deep web of secrets, lies, and tough choices. You learn about each tenant by watching footage, going through their belongings, and talking to them.

Each day, you gather information and decide which secrets and information to report to your boss. This earns you money, but some information costs you karma points and changes the story. Since you owe 1,000 yen every day, the pressure is always there: betray the people you’re watching, or protect them and risk losing everything.

https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3505978504

I started the game expecting a simple detective/mystery FMV, but it quickly turned into something more intense. As I learned more about the tenants lives, I began second guessing every decision. One time, I found a shocking secret that completely changed how I saw a character, and choosing whether to expose it or stay silent really stuck with me.

My friend surprised me with Cellveillance, and honestly, it was such a great gift, like she knew exactly what kind of story and mystery I’d get hooked on. It made playing the game feel even more special!

Gameplay:
The gameplay is a mix of story driven and smart decision making, all inside a game about spying on people. You see everything from the first-person view as you move around the apartment building, enter rooms, check security cameras, and talk to tenants. Most of the game you are watching and listening, hoping for some clues.

The game gives you a lot of freedom in how you approach, and that’s clear from its menu system and choices. The game includes a branching story map, which helps you keep track of important decisions. It doesn’t spoil the story though, but it shows you when and where the story splits, so if you replay the game, you can aim for different outcomes.

This branching menu is really helpful, especially since some choices seem small at first but end up changing the direction of the story later. If you're curious about what could have happened if you made a different choice, the menu lets you go back and explore without replaying the whole game from scratch. A very handy option.

https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3506007679

Aside from the story map, the game also includes a few other useful options:
  1. Dialogue Log: lets you re-read past conversations and clues in case you missed something important.
  2. Intel Menu: this is where your collected secrets and tenant information is stored. It helps you decide what to report and what to keep hidden.
  3. Karma & Debt Tracking: the game shows your current karma level (which affects your story path) and how much money you owe each day.
  4. Replay Options: after finishing the game, you unlock more ways to skip through scenes you’ve already seen, making it easier to chase different endings.

These options make it clear that the game is designed for multiple playthroughs. With the branching menu, it’s easy to explore other storylines.

How Your Choices Matter:
If you’re kind, tenants might trust you more and share more, but you might miss important information. If you follow orders strictly, your bosses will be happy and may even promote you, but the tenants will start to pull away or dislike you.

Some outcomes are later visable:
  1. A reported tenant might return as an ally in a later act, if you protected them early.
  2. A secret you uncovered but didn’t act on may burst into tragedy later.
  3. Violating privacy too often can cause you, the protagonist, to spiral morally.

Trigger warning:
The game deals with serious and mature topics in a quiet but powerful way. It doesn’t show explicit sexual content, but the story explores difficult and sensitive issues. If you’re sensitive to these subjects, it’s good to be aware before playing:
According to the Steam store page, the game features:
Sexual innuendos and seduction
Revealing clothing
Dark topics, including:
Sexual assault or non-consensual behavior (implied, not shown)
BDSM themes
Alcohol abuse
Self-harm
Suicide
Violence, gore, and drinking

These elements are mostly delivered through dialogue, FMV clips, and story events, not through graphic or interactive scenes, but the subject matter may be disturbing or triggering for some players.

Graphics & Sound
The graphics have a realistic feel that matches the story about observing others. You'll spend a lot of time in a simple apartment building with dark lighting and a cold color scheme, which really adds to the tense vibe. A lot of what you see comes from security cameras, featuring real actors in full motion video clips. These clips feel real but also a bit off, like you’re witnessing something private. The footage is slightly grainy and glitchy on purpose to mimic actual surveillance. The visuals might not be flashy, but they do a good job of pulling you into a world filled with secrets and choices.

The music in Cellveillance is soft and builds a tense atmosphere. It’s mostly quiet background sounds that add to the uneasy feeling as you get into the story. The music shines during quiet moments when you’re watching the tenants, making the act of spying and tricky choices even more intense. The sound quality is better than many FMV games, although there are occasional small audio glitches with the dialogue.

Final Verdict:
This game won’t be for everyone, but if you’re into slow, thoughtful stories with emotional choices and tough moral dilemmas, it really stands out. There aren’t any big action scenes or flashy effects here. Instead, it draws you in with subtle tension and careful storytelling, along with that uncomfortable feeling of peeking into people’s private lives.

What makes the game hit hard is how personal it feels. You’re not just figuring out mysteries; you’re getting to know characters with their own flaws, fears, and secrets. As you piece together their stories, you have to make tough choices about what to do with what you learn. Will you send their secrets to your boss for cash, or will you protect them and risk getting deeper into trouble? The game doesn’t hand you easy answers. Sometimes you might feel guilty about your choices, and you may not even be sure if you made the right call. That’s part of what makes it engaging.

If you’re after fast-paced action or clear good vs. evil choices, this game might not be your thing. But if you want something that makes you think and possibly even question your own decisions, Cellveillance offers a unique experience. It’s not just about spying; it raises the question of how far you’re willing to go and what that says about you.

A charming and relaxing hotel management experience

I'm a huge fan of the classic tycoon games, like Theme Hospital and RollerCoaster Tycoon. So when I saw a friend bought this game on my activity feed, I had to check it out. One look at the store page and I was sold, I bought it right away. I’ve been completely hooked ever since. Sure, there are only four scenarios available at the moment since it’s still in early access, but honestly, I have zero regrets. It already feels super polished and fun, and I’m excited to see how it evolves.

Gameplay:
This hotel management/tycoon game offers a delightful blend of strategy and creativity. You can hire employees with a variety of personalities and skill levels, and even customize the appearance of both staff and guests to suit your style. The gameplay begins with construction, building your hotel to your liking using a crew of skilled builders. All 4 scenarios begin with a pre-built hotel that you must manage, maintain, and expand in order to complete the set objectives.

https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3489624284

This game isn’t just about managing a hotel, it also puts you in charge of running the bar and restaurant inside it. You get to choose what dishes to serve, how to decorate the dining area, and even which drinks to offer at the bar. It adds a fun layer to the usual hotel tycoon formula.

Setting up a restaurant for example involves more than placing tables and chairs. You'll need to establish a kitchen, link it to your dining area, and hire a competent chef to prepare meals. The menu isn't just for show; different guest types have specific food preferences, and selecting dishes that cater to these tastes can significantly impact guest satisfaction. Each dish may require particular kitchen appliances, so planning your kitchen layout and equipment is crucial

The bar operates similarly. You'll decide which drinks to serve, and these choices affect guest happiness. Some guests may appreciate a well stocked bar with their favorite beverages, while others might be displeased if their preferences aren't met. Balancing your drink offerings to cater to a diverse clientele adds another layer of management to the game.

Each of the four scenario maps offers main and side objectives. Completing these unlocks new items and opens up sandbox mode for that map, allowing for endless creativity and management possibilities. The unlocked items can be used in all scenarios.

One of the more interesting mechanics is the visit from critics. Their reviews directly affect your hotel's rating and unlock valuable research points. These points can be used in a skill tree system to unlock new upgrades and features, adding a rewarding sense of progression.

Guests come in different types, each with unique expectations. Upgrading rooms and facilities becomes essential to meet their demands. From gyms and spas to arcade machines and whack-a-mole, the variety of amenities you can provide keeps gameplay fresh and fun. The different guests and their demands cheatsheet;
  1. Backpacker: min room size 4
  2. Sporty: min room size 8, room value 7500, toilet, basin.
  3. Sunbather: min room size 12, room value 12500, exterior window, toilet, basin, body wash, tanning.
  4. Business: min room size 12, room value 12500, toilet, basin, body wash, converence room.
  5. Brat: min room size 15, room value 21500, exterior window, bed(premium), wardrobe(premium), case stand(premium), toilet(premium), basin(premium), body wash(premium)
  6. Upper crust: min room size 30, room value 50000, exterior window, bed(luxurious), wardrobe(luxurious), case stand(luxurious), basin(luxurious), body wash(luxurious)

Watching guests and staff interact in real time adds a surprisingly immersive element, it’s like watching a little world unfold before your eyes (with modest censorship in place).

Graphics & sound:
The graphics are cute and cartoony with the use of bright colors, paired with relaxing music that perfectly complements the cozy atmosphere.

Final Verdict:
Hotel Architect really surprised me, in the best way. As a fan of classic tycoon games like Theme Hospital and RollerCoaster Tycoon, I felt right at home. But this game brings its own twist by letting you manage not just hotel rooms, but also the bar and restaurant. Choosing what food and drinks to offer, decorating spaces, and keeping guests happy adds a lot of depth and variety to the gameplay.

Even though there are only four scenarios right now (since it’s still in Early Access), each one is fun and unique, with main and side objectives that kept me hooked. And once you complete a scenario, you can replay the map in sandbox mode, which is great for experimenting and building freely.

Overall, Hotel Architect is a really fun and engaging game with a lot of potential. If you enjoy tycoon style games, it’s definitely worth checking out, even in its early state, it’s already a great time. It’s easy to lose track of time while building your dream hotel.
