It's mostly just good for nostalgia, I don't really think there's a whole lot that super great about Runescape these days. Positive review because I enjoy it, I guess, but I'd prefer to give it a neutral review if it was possible.

Might be interesting if you have a VR headset, but if not, it's just an interesting-looking walking simulator with very simple stealth and puzzles. Pretty short, too. Wishing there was a neutral review option, disliking for the sake of balance.

If you're looking for a real Souls game look elsewhere. This is a weird semi-roguelike with premade characters and looter-shooter elements. While that might sound appealing to some people, the battle-royal-style area shrinking has caused me to completely loose any interest in the game whatsoever.
I've also only tried solo play but from what I've read matchmaking and in-game communication seems very poor.
Also also, is Kernel Level Anti-Cheat really necessary?

Not bad, but not my style of game. Giving it a positive because the devs seem cool.

Certainly has potential, but right now it is really quite buggy. I'm going to wait until future updates then see what it's like, and update my review accordingly.

UPDATE 27/05/25: Game is still riddled with bugs. Hopes for improvement are low.

Seems fine so far, as a remaster it's maybe like a 7/10. There's some new animations which are a bit janky, some new and alternative voice acting which is a bit jarring, there's sprinting which looks a bit silly, there's a sprinkling of QoL enhancements, and for better or worse it feels like it's fan-made rather than a professionally-made remaster; but it works. Combat is still combat, NPCs still have their silly little conversations, and Sheogorath is there. You might need a fairly beefy PC for it to run well, but I've not had a single performance issue or major bug. Make of this whatever you will.

Oh it's good.
I'd refer to this as a "Fear-and-Hunger-Like". Do yourself a huge favour and go in completely blind. So many questions. So many options. So many secrets.

The more recent Yakuza/LaD games feel like they have all been lacking in some regard. Gaiden's combat was somehow very frustrating controlling KiryuJoryu felt like handling a fat sack of potatoes, Infinite Wealth was laughably easy and had a dumb story, and I never cared for the Judgement games because they completely lack the charisma, charm, and energy of any of the Yakuza games, so much so that I just rushed through Lost Judgement on PS4 just to get it over with, and it doesn't help that Yagami is such an uninteresting plank of wood with no personality.
With Pirate Yakuza In Yawaii, everything is back in full force. Majima is arguably the most fun character to play as in the entire series, even exceeding his combat in 0, with all of his attacks being ludicrously fast and satisfying but also easy to perform and chain together, and despite the plot of him loosing his memories his personality is not diminished one bit. The naval combat is also simple and quite easy to grasp, resembling a simplified version of Assassin's Creed: Black Flag.
Both the story and the entire world you're put into is refreshingly ridiculous; it really feels like Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio just went "♥♥♥♥ it" in all the best ways, and just made whatever the hell they wanted to be fitting for the tale of the Mad Dog.
While some people are complaining of constant crashing, I can only assume they must have a dusty old setup because in the 20 hours I've spent on it so far I have not had one single crash or major bug (aside from Majima occasionally saying things in English even though I put the spoken language to Japanese, but that turned out to be a very easy fix). I just slapped the game on a SSD without even bothering to update my drivers and it runs flawlessly.
My only concerns are that I don't see how RGG is going to top this - It's just brilliant - and since all the main Yakuza boys are old dogs now and I'm not the biggest fan of Ichiban, who himself is around 50, what's going to happen to them and the LaD series as a whole? As great as the characters are, we can't be stuck playing as raggedy old men forever. But right now, that's not a concern, because I'm having fun playing my funny Japanese pirate game with Mr. Mad Jeemer stabbing people in the face.
