*FYI I have 4k hours playtime on the game, before it came to steam*

Pros:
  • no monthly costs (buy-once-expansions and living world is needed for full experience -> around 100€ for all content during sales)
  • content updates every 3 months (for 98% of that content you will have to buy the yearly expansion though (25€)
  • 12 years of content that you can play
  • one of the most friendly and helpful communites in gaming - just ask in map chat if u need help
  • game respects your time (no gear treadmill -> best in slot gear is not hard to achieve and will not get worse with updates / expansion releases -> the game introduces new progress with a mastery system which has only horizontal progression
  • legendary gear isn't better in stats than the highest non-legendary gear, it just has animations, particle efffects, cool visuals and quality of life (you can respec the stats on leggy gear as often as you want, when you want. you can also freely add or remove upgrades from legendary gear without destroying it
  • has lots of content for every corner of PvE, if you enjoy raids, strikes, dungeons, 50man-instances or just the open world
  • world feels alive: Does not matter what you do, you will always find someone running around, because the older content / maps are not invalidated by updates (but of course people will tend to play more of the new content when it releases)
  • game is easy gameplay-wise, but for people who want a challenge there are challenge modes for fractals (basically dungeons), strikes and raids.
  • probably one of the wikis in all of gaming. To find out what an item does or is needed for, you can type "/wiki " in the chatbox followed by a space and then link the item in question by holding the shift-key and clicking on it in your inventory or a vendor window, etc. Then press enter and a browser tab with the corresponding item page on the wiki will open https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page (the wiki is user-operated)

Cons:
  • Quality of life (more bank space, more equipment templates, character slots, infinite gathering tools, etc.) needs to be bought additionally (although real money currency can be traded in with ingame gold, it will be hard for new players to get a lot of QoL stuff without investing some bucks, because the standard bank space
  • world exploration does not carry over to all characters (although if u want to play instanced content with other classes there are hubs to access that content so exploration isn't needed for new characters if you just want to play fractals, dungeons, raids, strikes, etc.)
  • throws a lot of stuff in your inventory which you don't know what to do with when starting out (gw2 wiki helps here, as already mentioned in pros)
  • PVP and WvW are only kind of small subsystems in the game and the content available isn't too big
  • if you buy the game on steam you can only buy expansions etc. via steam as well, otherwise it won't work with that account. Playerbases are not split between systems though.

In short it's basically COD2 with COD4 movement and integrated Faceit matchmaking for 5v5 search and destroy (CS plant the bomb) matches.
Arcade matches like CTF, TDM and Domination are all in 1 matchmaking playlist which is sad because the only really playable mode is Domination imho since this is the mode with the most consistent spawns that aren't ♥♥♥♥♥♥.
But if you long for an arcade shooter like the classic CODs without perks, killstreaks, abilities and all that garbage, you should try this one.

Early Access Review
Since it took over a year to fix most of the biggest problems in their asymmetric game "Dead by Daylight" (which still has bugs plaguing it and is even more unbalanced as it was at release), the developer "Behaviour" has now taken on a new project to not properly balance. In addition, the devs provide us with the wonkiest FPS experiences I've ever seen in 16 years of playing shooters. Playing the Hunter feels like playing an early alpha version of a Free to Play shooter from an unkown Asian studio. Since this gem is available for free for 1 week after its release into Early Access, I was able to get a glimpse of what type of game it is this time that will not be taken proper care over the span of its life but instead will receive lots of paid DLC on top of the already ridiculous price of 30€.

The devs literally learned nothing from their mistakes and it shows. The menu and options and keybind settings alone are a joke for a modern FPS on PC. If you wanna try that game in the free week, I'll just say "Aim / Mouse" Play a round as hunter and surprise yourself.

-Hacker infested after 2 days of open beta (we're talking about 2-3 hackers in most of the lobbies, how are ppl even getting those so easily?)

-No dedicated servers for a yearly (and supposedly) AAA-title that is bought by every single 12yr-old there is and still no money for dedicated servers but the old (and decent) COD titles had those? When a game without the insane amount of money behind a COD development can provide dedicated servers for 100 people at early access launch, there should be no discussion about how this would be feasable for Activision or not.

-The maps are way too small and only the war mode had a certain grip to it that made me want to play it for more than 3-4 rounds.

-Melee attacks do not insta-kill anymore unless you have a weapon with a bayonet, in which case you also have the ability to charge which has no charge-up time and no cooldown so they made melee even more unbalanced than before.

+Perks and Killstreaks are much better this time around than in previous iterations but that doesn't salvage it.

It seems it's time to go back to Battlefield 1 and wait for Battallion 1944. Hopefully that game will capture the essence of the COD 1 and 2 era gameplay...
