It's significantly more streamlined as an experience, and while it's not yet quite as diverse as the original in terms of character variety, it has systems in place to supplement that, ending up with each hero being much more specialized and unique. So far the damage typing system makes you really consider what kind of defenses to research and use, while the topdown twinstick elements give you a bit more to do on your downtime during waves. All in all, thoroughly enjoyable and a good bit more engaging, if a bit of a different experience.
Managed to shake up the formula without detracting from the room clearing tower defense feel.

I haven't gotten to try out the multiplayer aspects just yet, but so far it's a solid recommend in my books.

From everything I've experienced so far, it had even more than I would have expected out of a remake of one of my favorite horror games. Going into it thinking it was just going to be a pretty reskin remaster and getting the remake that it is was such a wonderful experience. From the inclusion of dialogue to make Isaac feel like an actual part of a team instead of an errand boy, to the restructuring of the USG Ishimura, linking the many sectors of the ship through actual hallways and maintenance tunnels to give the game's experience a more natural flow and progression.
Even encouraging backtracking to hunt for parts and schematics for your tools and equipment with a tram system that allows said backtracking and free travel to unlocked stations.
When I found that even some of the more janky or unfun mechanics or encounters got spiced up with new designs and mechanics, or interesting maintenance-esque puzzles, it cemented itself as a satisfactory replacement to it's original as my favorite horror game.

Early Access Review
When I got shipbreaker, I thought it was gonna be a niche game I'd play for a couple dozen hours and then kinda drift away from, but it became something calming, and incredibly enjoyable that I play whenever I need to destress. Something about having a problem placed before you that you can just chip away at with creative use of the many tools and systems they give you is incredibly satisfying to me. Between that and the freedom of the zero gravity 3D environment can have me immersing myself in the meticulous life of a Shipbreaker for hours, living shift to shift.

The only thing that I can see bothering some people is that it can get repetitive, but in a game I play to relax and defrag after a tough day, I personally am not really bother by it.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how they handle variety and different mechanics they create as they move forward through early access. And while this is early access, all of the core aspects of a good experience are still here, so I would recommend checking it out if you have a free bit of holiday money and want to give strategic dismantling a shot~

No idea where this came from, but it popped up in my recommended list and I love it. :) It's peaceful, and engaging at the same time. I got 10 islands in on my first go and want to try for more next time :)

I just recently finished The Witcher 3. It was a delve into a gritty fantasy world ravaged by war and the creatures that fed on what was left behind. The storytelling was beautiful in all regards, with hours of quests to take up, every contract undertaken an adventure, meaningful in it's own right, giving you a look at the lives of the common folk and what creature lurking in the dark scared them enough to hire you. The graphics were beautiful, the world and characters full of life, waiting to be explored. The mechanics were a step up from the previous game, though still punishing any witcher who rushes into combat unprepared. Your signs, potions, and blade oils fit into the flow of combat, an essential part of your arsenal instead of a clunky optional touch it could be in previous games. As of date it has two expansions to the world, both of witch only added to my admiration of the game. The enemies you face intermingle with the main story, leaving you free to wander at your whim, tackling anything that catches your eye. I experienced many stories that I will never forget, and enjoyed this game more than any I've played in a while. If a few good dark stories in a game are your style, this is definitely worth checking out.

For how much I paid for this game, I wasn't expecting much. But what I get is one of the best games I've played all year. I enjoyed this game every step of the way, from the gameplay, to the soundtrack, to the thought put into even the smallest animations and sprites. It gave me a massive world to explore and explore I did. I have recommended this game to many, and feel it deserves more attention than what it has gotten so far.
