starts off great and then act 2 happens and it loses pretty much all the flare it had. act 3 hits close to 1 but fails at it due to the energy building being a slow, clunky thing and the linear progression kinda takes the fun out of it. the narrative really gets pushed in your face too.

the sheer tonal jump is cool at first but then it throws a lot of really odd mechanics at you that aren't really explained and the deckbuilding just isn't as fun as letting chance decide and having an easier go like act 1. the cabin setting and the stylized 3d look really sets a good tone but act 2 ditches it entirely and it only returns partially with act 3 but even then it doesn't carry the same feeling with it. i tried really, really hard to enjoy the game when getting past act 2 but it simply didn't click. i appreciate all the effort that went into the title but i really wish it just stuck to being act 1 but expanded. there's so much stuff you'll likely miss in the cabin if you get lucky, stuff like that doesn't even carry to the later acts barring 3 to a limited extent which leads it all to feel unfinished or not as thought out.
