Garden Rescue Review - Rating: 6.4/10

General Impression
Garden Rescue is a decent alternative to more expensive tower-defense games, being a pretty nice combination of the casual and strategy genres. The graphics are pretty nice, two-dimensional, and a lot of varied colors. The textures are pretty alright as well, they are relatively detailed. The atmosphere is basically a garden, which will constantly get larger and with more obstacles, in the advantage of the enemy, which will make the gameplay somewhat more challenging. There is a lot of grass, as well as many alleyways. The enemy must reach the garden, at a strawberry plantation (there are 2 strawberry plants). The audio is pretty nice, all of the sounds are well-optimized, as well as the soundtrack is nice and relaxing. The gameplay is simple: defend the strawberry plantation. Don’t let your enemy to steal the strawberry plants. You must put plants near the alleyways, which have various abilities. Plants who shoot enemy-ground type, plants who shoot air-ground type (there aren’t many air-ground type plants or enemies, unfortunately), plants who slow the enemies, etc. They can be upgraded up to 3 stars, but not from the begging of the game. The controls are very simple: the mouse. Yes, it’s that simple. Just left-click on anything and place it with the left-click as well. The engines are alright as well, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. This game works even with low-performant computers, as the store page says, making it accessible to any gamer. The mechanics are pretty alright, however, you will get bored of them after a while. When new plants will be available, the mechanics will get pretty interesting (just on the new plants). Overall, it’s a pretty nice and relaxing casual-strategy game.

Positive Points
  • Pretty nice 2D graphics and nice textures
  • Pretty good SFX and soundtrack
  • Pretty fun and relaxing gameplay
  • Many types of plants and enemies
  • Many levels to combat (around 30)
  • The ability to put plants wherever you wish
  • The ability to upgrade your plants when you whenever you wish
  • The manual for the towers and for the enemies is nice
  • The three-stars thing gets you replaying the levels you didn’t get 3 stars on

Neutral Points
  • Trading cards would be a great feature
  • More air-type towers and enemies should be available
  • A CO-OP option or a level editor would be a great feature
  • A storyline would be an interesting feature in the game
  • Probably it looks too similar to Plants vs Zombies

Negative Points
  • It gets a little confusing from time to time
  • The game moves way too slow even on 2X speeed
  • The tips' pop-ups are pretty annoying
  • I have tried all the difficutlies, they are all almost the same

Airstrike HD - Rating: 6.4/10

General Impression
Airstrike HD is an alright combination of the casual and indie genres. The graphics are 2D, so they are pretty simple. However, I like that this game is colorful, as well as the backgrounds of the areas make it more enjoyable. The textures are relatively decent, a better polishing would have been a plus. The atmosphere varies between 5 different environments, from the hot tropical climate to the cold polar climate, and further to the Moon. Every environment has its own buildings, background and especially population/vehicles, but sometimes… the weather could really affect the gameplay. Not only that it can be somewhat make the game looking more dynamic, but it can also cover your aircraft. The audio is pretty decent, even though sounds when clicking the menu/pause/resume icons should be added. The soundtracks are pretty nice, they suit every environment. The gameplay is relatively repetitive, but the surprise bonuses and the general being hold in an unknown building make the gameplay pretty decent, as well as the weather influences the ability to see your aircraft. The weather can cover it, so you cannot see where you are bombing. There isn’t any complicated story either, basically there is a guy who keeps coming to certain cities to bomb them, while he takes off from the ground (from hidden places, where usually a gate opens and the aircraft comes out to take off), and in the final, a cut scene appears with him and with his 5 aircrafts being happy, meanwhile a ton of fireworks are exploding on the sky in the background. The user-interface is very simple, without any additional designing. The controls are pretty alright, you can control the game with both the mouse and the keyboard. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. The mechanics are pretty good everywhere, even though the bombs feel a little unnatural, especially when they fall. The damages of the buildings aren’t that realistic neither. But I like the constant burning of the buildings, they are relatively realistic. Overall, pretty decent mechanics, but some polish would improve them.

Positive Points
  • Decent and colorful 2D graphics
  • Alright SFX and pretty good soundtrack
  • Relaxing gameplay + weather makes it somewhat challenging
  • Many types of buildings and environments
  • 25 levels to explore + 5 boss levels
  • The ability to upgrade your 5 airplanes
  • Generals and tricky bonuses in the buildings
  • Steam trading cards and achievements

Neutral Points
  • The area of bombing should be bigger at higher levels
  • A level editor would be a great feature

Negative Points
  • The graphics and the mechanics need a little more polish
  • The droppings of the bombs are somewhat unnatural
  • It could get repetitive for certain gamers sometimes

Dyna Bomb Review - Rating: 6.3/10

General Impression
Dyna Bomb is a retro-arcade platformer game, which makes us to feel like we are in the mid 80’s. The graphics are retro, but for it’s type of games, which basically were in the begging of the video games industry, are well-designed. The textures are fairly alright. The atmosphere takes place in 8 different areas, each one of them having 8 levels, where they are getting bigger and bigger as the levels are increasing. The audio is well-chosen for this kind of genre. The music is pretty nice as well, it’s very suitable to the game. The gameplay is very simple: fly around the maps, collect a maximum of 3 stars, collect as many diamonds as possible for rewards, throw bombs at your enemies and don’t run out of ammunition very fast. You must reach the end of each level, you must get the required key to firstly open the gate, you also need to travel through portal, which will lead you to certain places, the maps can get a little confusing because of many portals. The controls are badly optimized, even the mouse is not available, and the keys aren’t put well. You should change them like the following: W – flying up, A – flying left, D – flying right, R – throwing bombs. These are the controls that I used, they are enjoyable and easy-to-click. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. This game works even with low-performant computers, as the store page says, making it accessible to any gamer. The mechanics are retro, they aren’t something complex. Everything moves on a definitive distance, and comes back in the same point. Overall, it’s a pretty nice game for those who are into retro games and not only.

Positive Points
  • Pretty nice retro-style graphics
  • Pretty good SFX and soundtrack
  • Fun and relaxing gameplay
  • Many types of enemies and collectibles
  • Many levels to explore (around 64)
  • Colorful and diversified areas to explore
  • Portals make this game even more surprising
  • This game will make you to retry levels which you didn’t get 3 stars on, making it even longer
  • Diamonds can offer you bonus improvements on the overall gameplay
  • Steam trading cards available

Neutral Points
  • Achievements would make this game more challenging
  • Multiple difficulties available would also improve the game

Negative Points
  • The ammunition for bombs should be more at higher levels
  • The controls are not well-optimized, the mouse isn’t even programmable

Death by Game Show Review - Rating: 7.8/10

General Impression
Death by Game Show is a pretty good combination of the action, indie and strategy genres. The graphics are well-designed for a two-dimensional game, pretty much basically cartoonish, but they are well detailed, fitting the game perfectly. The textures are pretty good as well, they are pretty detailed. The atmosphere takes place on Terra and in the Solar System, and basically on Terra you are on a stage where there is a show-designer, cameramen and random units around. In the Solar System, you will be sent on different planets with a rocket, and then released on the planet where you need to accomplish various objectives, differing from mission to mission. The audio is pretty nice, all of the sounds are well-optimized, as well as the soundtrack being great and funny. The gameplay is about a human who needs to fight the enemy droids with his friendly droids, which are being spawned by his buddy, which looks like a smiley locker. As the game will progress, the gameplay will only be getting harder and harder, and your buddy also has an energy bar, which needs to recharge if you spawned too many droids in a short time. You also must place buildings around the map, which will help with defeating the enemy droids, but some will help by generating other friendly droids. The story happens in the 26th century, and the show-designer keeps the story alive, until the end of the game. The controls are alright, there isn’t anything wrong with them. The engines are alright as well, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. This game works even with low-performant computers, as the store page says, making it accessible to any gamer. The mechanics are pretty nice, the enemies and buildings drop nicely when getting destroyed, and everything moves pretty good.

Positive Points
  • Pretty nice 2D graphics and nice textures
  • Pretty good SFX and soundtrack
  • Fun and challenging gameplay
  • Many types of units and buildings
  • Many levels to combat (around 50)
  • The ability to construct buildings
  • The ability to spawn your own units
  • Integrated in-game level editor
  • Steam trading cards and achievements

Neutral Points
  • The difficulty gets a bit too hard too early
  • The area of fighting could be a little longer probably
  • A multiplayer option would be a great feature

Negative Points
  • It gets a little confusing from time to time
  • Too much background text displayed around the maps
  • It could get repetitive for certain gamers sometimes

Hills Of Glory 3D Review - Rating: 6.9/10

General Impression
Hills Of Glory 3D is a pretty nice combination of the indie and strategy genres. The graphics are pretty decent, but don’t expect something spectacular, it’s an originally mobile game. The atmosphere is about basically many maps around Italy, France and Germany (in order), where you will have to repel many troops/elite troops and many tanks/elite tanks. The areas differ from villages, to cities, and even fields and small forests. The audio is fine, the shooting and the explosions are pretty good, even though there is only one background soundtrack. The gameplay is pretty fun and challenging, you control a bunker which has several units, taking care of the battlefield. You may only equip 4 out of the 8 weapons available in the game. You will unlock them as you progress. There will be coming many enemies towards you, and you must do your best in order to defend the bunker. You can call air bombers in order to bomb the tanks with anti-tank mines, as well as you can call helicopters for airstrikes or for ammunition, supplies, bunker’s health, etc. There isn’t any interesting story, probably the fact that this game occurs in the Second World War, while you are fighting Italy, France and Germany could be taken as a story. General Doug will teach you how to use the weaponry, as well as he always complains about the situation on the war being bad, but he always has hopes in the arriving reinforcements after each battle, and most importantly, that one day they will all win. The engines and the mechanics are pretty alright, the tanks have a few designs before being completely destroyed, as well as they keep having a booming design when they get shot. And the soldiers also have the stage where they aren’t wounded, massively wounded or dead. The user interface is well-designed, pretty complex and neat. The controls are pretty decent, but they could be improved, though. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. The mechanics are pretty solid, I haven’t any glitches around them. But they are a little repetitive sometimes. Overall, it’s a pretty fun and relaxing game.

Positive Points
  • Relatively nice graphics
  • Good SFX/soundtrack
  • Challenging gameplay
  • The ability to purchase and upgrade equipment
  • Pretty big campaign/survival mode
  • Fun but relaxing arcade type
  • Pretty good mechanics
  • 3 large countries to combat
  • Many enemies and weapons to choose from
  • Collectibles and personal stats

Neutral Points
  • Only one repetitive soundtrack, more soundtracks would be useful
  • A deeper polish would be an amazing improvement

Dashy Square Review - Rating: 7.2/10

General Impression
Dashy Square is a perfect combination of the action and indie genres, and in my opinion, a decent alternative to Geometry Dash. The graphics are pretty nice, they are 2D, with pretty decent textures. The atmosphere is basically a bunch of areas, where your square has to reach the final of the area, but he will have to repel many obstacles. The audio is nice, as well as the music is great, it’s really entertaining for an indie game. The gameplay is about repelling many obstacles, but in the same time, collecting different keys, which unlock many achievements. Once you reached the final of the area, the wave is finished. Each level has 5 waves, right now there are only 16 levels. So basically, a ton of waves. The user interface is well-optimized, with no bugs and well-synthetized information. It also contains funny elements, and an user-friendly design. The controls are well-optimized, where you are able to walk your square either with your arrows or with your mouse. Personally, I prefer the arrows, because they are more accurate. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. The mechanics aren’t the strongest point in this game, I personally dislike the constant shacking of the map. Apart of that, the stopping and the jumping of the square are alright, as well as the moving of it. It’s pretty well-optimized even for very bad computers. Overall, it’s a really fun platformer game, with some pretty nice graphics, challenging gameplay and an amazing electronic soundtrack.

Positive Points
  • Pretty nice graphics
  • Good audio and soundtrack
  • Challenging gameplay
  • Funny characters
  • Levels/Endless mode
  • Upcoming level editor
  • Pretty well-designed mechanics
  • User-friendly interface
  • A tutorial is available
  • Steam trading cards & many achievements

Neutral Points
  • More polishing on some elements would be great
  • A CO-OP option would be an amazing feature to the game

Negative Points
  • A little too hard from the begging
  • The screen probably shakes a little too much (the developer has fixed it)

Broadsword: Age of Chivalry Review - Rating: 6.8/10

General Impression
Broadsword: Age of Chivalry is a perfect combination of the action, simulation and indie genres. The graphics are pretty good, they are 2D while moving through the map, but they are 3D while you watch fight scenes between the factions. The atmosphere is about many areas on Europe, where you must capture towns, especially the fortification of each town. You must move your units, to take resources for your army, as well as combating your enemies, and the main objective: capturing the fortification. The audio is nice, I like the sound of the swords, screaming, moving, etc. The original music is from German film, with the composer being Jan Morgenstern. The gameplay is basically moving the units, which will construct buildings such as lumber yards, farms and gold stations. Lumber yards are necessary for the training of your new units, the farm is for the food of your units, the more farms you have, the more units you can have and the gold station are very important in order to train new units. Also, you must combat the enemies, as well as taking over the fortifications. The story is about the factions who fight in the medium era, fighting in Europe. The user interface is well-optimized, with no bugs and well-synthetized information. The engines and the mechanics are alright, the units are well-designed when fighting/dying during the fight scenes, as well as the 2D are also well-designed, moving on the hexagons. The engines are alright, I haven’t met any bugs, crashes, screen freezes or frame drops. The mechanics are pretty solid, I haven’t any glitches around them. However, they are a little repetitive. Overall, it’s a pretty decent fighting scenes simulator and a turn-based strategy game.

Positive Points
  • Pretty nice 2D and 3D graphics
  • Pretty nice soundtrack and SFX
  • Challenging gameplay
  • Several factions in the game
  • Many types of enemies
  • The ability to construct buildings
  • The ability to choose your own units
  • Turn-based game and decent requirement of strategy
  • Long missions and campaigns

Neutral Points
  • A multiplayer feature would greatly improve the game
  • It misses Steam trading cards and achievements

Negative Points
  • The price tag is too high, this game is nowhere close to 25$
  • The interface is too simple
  • The “multiplayer” is just a local CO-OP option

Overfall Review - Rating: 7.5/10

General Impression
Overfall is a perfect combination of the indie, RPG and strategy genres. The graphics are well-designed, being two-dimensional, but it gives a very small impression of 2.5D, in my opinion. The atmosphere is pretty much basically a bunch of islands, and a lot of water, and you must explore the islands, as well as the ships. The audio has some well-made ambient soundtrack, as well as synchronized SFX. The gameplay is about, in the begging, 2 pirates, and further, 4 pirates, which need to fight their way to save Everking. They explore islands, as well as talking/fighting to other pirates on ships. The user interface is well-optimized, with no bugs and well-synthetized information. The controls are very simple, you must move your character with the mouse, then attacking the enemies with the mouse as well. Mostly, this game is just mouse-needing, I rarely used the keyboard. The engines are solid, I haven’t met any bugs/glitches/lagging/frame drops. The mechanics are pretty solid, I haven’t any glitches around them. Overall, it’s a very relaxing and simple game, I recommend it to any RPG/Rogue-like gamers, and not only.

Positive Points
  • Well-designed 2D graphics
  • Ambient soundtrack and synchronized SFX
  • Challenging gameplay
  • Many areas and environments
  • Open-World gameplay
  • Many features in the gameplay
  • Well-optimized engines
  • It’s a pretty long game
  • A pretty interesting story

Neutral Points
  • The controls are a little too simple, they should be more complex

Negative Points
  • The loading time takes a little too long
  • No saving option, the biggest disadvantage

Galactic Arms Race - Rating: 6.9/10

General Impression
Galactic Arms Race is a perfect combination of the action and indie genres. The graphics are beautifully designed, also the planets, galaxies, stars, asteroids, enemy ships, enemy stations, etc. are well designed. The atmosphere takes action in the space, but there are a lot of galaxies to combat. The audio is alright, I enjoy how the ship shooting sounds, as well as the background soundtracks. The travel distances are pretty long on all maps, the area of them being the same, but having better enemies, as the game advances, as well as the color of the background. The gameplay is pretty much about having a small ship, which must combat many galaxies, each galaxy having one or more bases of your alliance. Around your bases, there are many other stations, which will camp on their position. The missions will require you to attack them, as well as you must be prepared for enemy ships defending them. The user-interface is pretty well-designed and well-synthetized. The controls are well chosen, so that you can enjoy the game without any complex controls. The engines are solid, I haven’t met any bugs/glitches/lagging/frame drops. The mechanics are pretty nice, everything moves well. Overall, it’s a very challenging but relaxing game, I recommend it for any gamer who likes action games.

Positive Points
  • Beautifully designed graphics
  • Good soundtracks and shooting sounds
  • Challenging gameplay
  • Many areas and environments
  • Well designed HUDs
  • Many features in the gameplay
  • Big areas to explore
  • It’s a pretty long game
  • Multiplayer option available

Neutral Points
  • The area of travelling per each map is probably too large, this would be fixed by either adding a time accelerator, faster ships or by smaller maps

Negative Points
  • The difficulty is unstable on some maps
  • At the beginning, the game is a little unclear

Cosmic Leap Review - Rating: 6.7/10

General Impression
Cosmic Leap is a decent combination of the action and indie genres. It looks like a challenging retro-modern and old-school graphics, in the same time relaxing and entertaining. The graphics aren’t modern, but for this kind of genre, they are pretty well designed. The atmosphere takes place in the space, where you will travel across different planets and rocks (you can jump on rocks to get to other planets which are too far from you.) The audio is simple, but in the same time, well made. This game has a lot of beeping, indeed. The gameplay is pretty much going around the planets to get to the rocket, but you can change your character as well. How do you get characters? Well, in some missions, you optionally can take over characters (they will bypass your area, you must get in the rocket to get the character). The story is about a character who just arrived in space, and he must complete all the missions, to compete and eventually win against his competitors. The user interface is pretty weird, I don’t enjoy how the tabs switch. But they are pretty well-designed. The controls are well-chosen, but the small delay is pretty annoying. The engines are pretty good, what I don’t like about the engines are the controls and the fact that it’s a bit hard to switch from right to left and vice versa. And it’s also hard to reach the rocks, in order to jump to planets which are too far away to get directly jumped on. The mechanics are somewhat decent , but sometimes, they respond with a very small delay. Overall, it’s a pretty cute indie game, with many levels and challenging gameplay.

Positive Points
  • Simple but retro-modern graphics
  • Many levels and areas
  • Challenging gameplay
  • Two different game modes
  • School measuring system (it makes you to retry the level for a better grade)
  • Many enemies and obstacles
  • Pretty good engines
  • Nice old-school sounds

Neutral Points
  • Sometimes it can get a little frustrating if you play it slowly

Negative Points
  • The controls have a small delay
  • The menu-changing styles aren’t so neat
