Terraria is an 8-bit era exploration and building game. Most players would equate it to a 2-D Minecraft; however Terraria relies more on exploration than building - unlike Minecraft. Terraria has thousands of craftable and collectible items, armor, and weapons; as well as, massive boss battles which set the pace for each tier of progression during your playthrough.

Terraria's overworld is broken into a few key pieces. Above ground where you'll find mostly weak enemies and at night time fight a constant onslaught of zombies, below ground (caving) where you'll fight progressively harder monsters the deeper you descend, and Hell which contains the hardest mobs in the game base game. There are other hidden areas and dungeons, but I'll leave those for you to find rather than spoil them.

Now you might have noticed I just mentioned the base game... That's because at a certain point you change entire game world by entering "Hardmode". This mode uses two spreading mechanics: Hallowed and Corruption - each with their own set of big bads that range from the air all the way deep below ground. With the increased difficulty also come more power items, armor, and weapons. Although you'll experience 70% of the game at this point - this is where the game truly begins in my opinion.

On top of all of this is a unique building system with hundreds of blocks, backgrounds, and decorative items to be placed in a slew of varying biomes. Along the course of the game you'll also come in contact with friendly NPCs which will assist you in buying and selling unique items. If you're not already sold at this point... the game has full support for multiplayer!

To this day Terraria remains my most played game on Steam. It just received a major update adding over 1000+ new items. This game is a great deal on a good day, but if you can catch it on a Steam sale for a few dollars - then do yourself a favor and prepare to sink into the world of Terraria.

CS:GO Review
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is the latest installment of the Counter-Strike franchise. In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) you take on the role of either a Terrorist or Counter-Terrorist and along with your team try to accomplish map based objectives to secure income and ultimately victory. Weapons, armor, and grenades can be purchased with income from completing map objectives and kills at the start of every round. Community maps can be downloaded freely and unique weapon skins can be found in game randomly.

If you're a fan of first person shooters and tactical team combat then this is the game for you. The hit detection and gun mechanics can take some time to get the hang of, but mastering them also comes with a huge sense of accomplishment. I'd pick this game up at full price ($14.99 USD) no questions asked - on a steam sale however it's a no brainer.

I can not recommend this game enough. It does an amazing job of telling a very human story through basic shapes and platforming. Buy this game — especially if you are a fan of Portal 2 (the humor is very similar).

Dungeon Defenders is a squad based tower defense game played in a third person over the shoulder view (or top down with a special class). You can play as several classes all with unique abilities, weapons, and "towers". Dungeon Defenders has a TON of DLC which is mostly free for the first few weeks of release. While you may find the endless hacking and slashing of enemies very repetitive - I promise you'll be smiling from ear to ear as you do it. If you're looking for a great low cost game to play with your friends pick up Dungeon Defenders on one of the many yearly sales or on Amazon.com (which registers on Steam).

The Walking Dead is easily my Game of the Year. For me it is the best adaptation of the IP other than the graphic novels. No other game has gripped me with its' story or made me value every decsision I was making like The Walking Dead has. Decisions you make in the first few minutes of the game will alter your entire playthrough and ending. I simply can't recommend this game enough. If you can catch it on sale consider yourself lucky... Otherwise just BUY IT ALREADY!
