Love the game, gladly did multiple saves! Have heard rumors of DLC and I highly look forward to it. Only 2 things I did NOT like is the world bosses permanently scale to your clan (?) size, instead of temporarily to the amount of active/logged in players. [note: have only played on private servers] Also, everything seems to be balanced to PvP instead of PvE, and the MOBA controls make it difficult to have a true spellcaster build.

The building and progression and fights are great tho, Simon Belmont *especially*, loved his fight. There are also lots of difficulty modifers to adjust the game to however you prefer to play!

Early Access Review
Quite a few bad changes and removals from what we have in Smite 1 - calling this a better sequel is a joke.

-> Roles - I thought the idea of no roles was neat, but after having played with this game a bit, it was a terrible idea to remove roles. It also gives people a clear idea on where to go and what to do - people in the matches i played just did whatever.

-> Auto-build - I do like how auto-build seems to be the default, and it works pretty well, however the build system needs a LOT of work. I miss the customization builds we were able to do in Smite 1 - hoping this changes for full release.

-> No Vs Bot Conquest - just let us play against bots. that would make the no roles and minimal build flexibility bearable. we can vs for Arena, why not Conquest? Oh, right, YOU TOOK ROLES AWAY SO THE BOTS WILL BE CONFUSED TOO.

-> Every skin is $20 if you don't have legacy gems. Can we, as gamers, admit that any skin over $15 is ridiculous? ESPECIALLY in this economy.

-> Mastery Skins - speaking of skins, mastery skins you should get as you master the character, for free, no gems required, same as in Smite 1 - the gems option in 1 is if you didn't have the favor (which, if you were mastering a character, you definitely did, so it wasn't an issue)

-> Is it just me or do the abilites feel like they have smaller range? As Bellona I also feel less tanky - yes i chose the tank build - and like i did less damage than in 1. Possibly bc in 1 i can choose my relics, and have a second relic etc, but still. Not fun to feel nerfed when you're watching an enemy Zues easily reach max level and then all you can do is get nuked by him, repeatedly.

-> Oh yeah, that's another thing. the EXP and leveling in matches is abyssmal. In no way should an enemy end up 10 or more levels above me and I struggle to keep up because there are only 2 exp camps that respawn at what feels like 1/2 or less the rate of the EXP camps in 1 - not to mention they are placed AWFULLY. Also speaking of maps - GET RID OF THE BUSHES. NO ONE LIKES THE BUSHES.

Overall I think the game has decent bones but I personally am requesting a refund and waiting until full release reviews to even consider playing it more, and going back to Smite 1. The updated graphics are nice but not worth $30, and imo? that's the only upside vs 1.
Even for an Alpha version, this is ... not great.

never thought i'd enjoy a MOBA, but this one is great fun with friends. Gods just going on sight, it's great! Definitely looking forward to the upgraded graphics in upcoming SMITE 2, though

As with all free-to-play games, the product is the player instead of the game. It's just a question of how. That how is mostly the cash shop of cosmetics (which are server-locked) and battle pass items, as usual.

That being said - a bit more transparency about the secondary program that gets installed and runs alongside the game does would be very appreciated. Per another reviewer's research (s/o to Don Phil), it appears to just be a data analytics program that usually is only installed with mobile phone apps, hence the devs copypasta "it's nothing to be worried about" response. However, I just want to post this review to boost the info and so others can make an informed decision before delving into the game (which the short amount I played, was fun - but the lack of transparency in responses and having to search through things to find these answers leaves me hesitant to reccomend it in good faith)

Is this one expansion or two? One? Okay, that story was so disjointed and the second half was so out of nowhere (no foreshadowing, nothing, just boom), I needed to make sure. Begining was okay, decent pace, and then the other shoe drops, and it's like everyone, including us, has forgotten we're the Warrior of Light, not one of the NPCs. Love her, but you might as well have replaced everyone's characters with that NPC for the whole expansion - AND VIERA AND HROTHGAR STILL CANNOT WEAR HATS, NOT EVEN THE ARTRIFACT GEAR HATS. DO BETTER SQEN.

The BASE game I would reccomend, it's fun and has a good story and character stories. Even the Training grounds at the right levels are challenging but enjoyable. THE DLC HOWEVER. is a waste of money, imo. It's an okay story? It feels rushed almost, and the training grounds specifically are NOT a reasonable challenge. They also very clearly want you to buy the level ups because unlike the base game, there is no good time-efficient way to get to higher levels. Thankfully this is only really needed for the training grounds, but those of us who want to 100% the achievements like we did for the base game are essientially paywalled. The DLC could have been a lot better than it was gameplay-wise and I am sorely disappointed. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE DLC. You will wind up frustrated or paying more money to still be frustrated.

full release my ass. this game is still in EA, especially towards act 3. also, larian, GIVE KARLACH AN ENDING THAT DOESN'T FORCE HER BACK TO AVERNUS. The items to fix her heart are there in act 3 !! let us use them and help her !! YOU ARE COWARDS LARIAN

Also, majorly I think Act 2 feels like the true finale with the final boss and all. Act 3 is so underwhelming. The tadpole powers were so much better the way they were in EA. If I could still refund this game, I would.

edit: patch 4 and still no major fixes to this. JUSTICE FOR KARLACH. also removed what i said about comapnions and multiplayer since they added the wardrobe. Larian did one (1) thing right
