GUNS UP!

Veterans, buildings and a basic walkthough sandwich
By ImperiumRum
So this is going to be a long guide into the building is Guns Up, ways to use them, Aggro, strategy, and generally how to get the basics of the game and then for you to build up from that and see what you can do with the foundations i lay out for you.

Although the examples i'll be using will be of my base and the level my buildings are at, don't run off, use the information. the ideas of using aggro at a lower level still work just as well as at a higher level/

Free Veterans
FREE VETERANS !!!!

So how does one get free and easy veterans? well thats simple really.

First unlock this monster !!

Then pick what unit you want to get as a veretan, I picked the sniper.
Find an enemy base that has only 1 mortar and no rocketeer/bomb units. So probably a 1 or 2 skull enemy. Then you pull this stunt on them.

So whats going on here? simple, i sent out 4 snipers and then nothing but riot Shields. using 2 rally flags so that i could stack up a load of riot shields and then lets them go ham on everything, using offencive cards to take out their mortar and nothing else.

Doing this basically will always give you 2/3 start veterans.

You're welcome
Unit Aggro
How to Have a Strong Def and Farm

So when we all start doing our CPU defence we all feel good with out first set of rewards after our first loss.
15 Mins, felt good bro, but how do we turn this up from 15 mins to a hour or more? strategic thinking and some grinding.

Although my best so far is a 57min defence.

Tank Traps and Sandbagging

Ill be beating this time and time again adding mins to it but that all with upgrading towers blaaaa.
There are multiple things you need to figure out before diving in, the most important is how to manipulate the enemy into going where you want them to using AGGRO and while also using as little building as possible.
The obvious way would be to use walls, well duh walls are great, buttttttttt they are better used to stop things. Both tank traps and sandbags change the aggro of incoming units because in some situations they simply wont walk past/through them.

Walling

I mean look at that, one tank trap and every single unit ignores that path, changing their aggro to a different path.
Uses of this is simple, you can use that square tank trap to block some paths, and use walls to further defend other areas or use them to create new paths/ blockades. Here's an example

So as you can see here nothing is shooting over the wall at the tower, but with the very long line of sight that the tower has, at the end of the wall there is a gap where the tower can shoot through and not many enemies can shoot back, this is useful in PVP mainly because there aren't huge waves constantly, so in CPU its useful but doesn't have the longest life as the enemies do kill the tower after about 11 mins normally.

Open areas

The last Aggro trick is this simple one here, where behind this tower the walls are open so units that pass at the bottom can kill the tower with ease, why would i do this?
Because it takes all their attention away from the sniper towers in front of them, riot shields especially go for this.

What this all wants to build up to is you creating a choke point/s where the enemies will run to their death, using whatever unit you have chosen.
Personally i enjoy the snipers and they get the job done clean and simple.
Here is my choke point

Choke Point/s

What simply happens here is since the sniper can penetrate multiple enemies, each time the first person runs up into the barbwire. the first person died and the second and if i'm lucky the third dies too. Although not a 100% proof plan, it gets you pretty far for a long time.
In the case of pvp, its a 70% win rate for me so far to defend and for alliance battles its a 80% win rate for defence.
Sniper Tower Use
Ok the use of Sniper towers seems to be favoured so much more the higher you get, Reason for it, they drop multiple units at a time from a great distance. So unless you're attacking someone with riot shields or a lot of cards, you're done for most of the time.

SOOooooOOo lets learn about towers.

Sniper Tower

So lets make this easy, the blue cone is the range and field of fire that that sniper tower has, anything that isnt friendly, will get shot. In the face. Till its dead.
The issue this tower is going to have is it's out in the open where it will kill something, but then it itself will be destroyed pretty darn quick.
So what can you do with it you say?

Positioning

Something like this. Putting the tower in a position where its very unlikely to be hit, but will hit anything between the gap off the wall and the rock. although this area where it can hit things is very very small.
This pathway has been set out to force units to go down it. I.E it will kill things and it will last a long time.
Another tactic is this.

Usage

using the max length of range of the tower with multiple other towers in the area means they will take some damage but kill a lot more before any of them are destroyed, added with the wire and defensive units. the towers are in a perfect place for things to run up and die one by one or three by three.
Bunker Use
The bunker is a great building for causing the enemy units to stagger and to in general inflict small amounts of damage on multiple units within a large radios.
The bunker is less common until bases hit about 6000BP
I think this is because until this point people don't have the units to counter strong sniper/ rocket defences.

Bunker Stuff

So as you can see, the bunker has a very large field of fire, but the issue is that the field of fire has not got a long range, this gives the bunker a more shotgun range in comparison to other buildings.
The best use that i have found for a bunker since it has a short range and a large health pool; is to put it in positions a little distance around corners so that enemies will run into it get staggered and hopefully be killed quickly.

The use of it here would be to take aggro off incoming units while other long ranged buildings mopped up what came along, So mortars and Sniper towers to do the bulk of the killing while the bunker takes the brunt of the damage.
Unfortunately i cant give better examples of my bunker use as i don't really use them yet "scrub i know"
Mortar Use
The Mortar

So this image basically tells it all, the range on the mortar and the hit area area huge, the only problem with this is simply the likleyhood of a hit is small, but if it hits, it hurts and can usually kill most enemies on impact.

Strats
Using multiple mortars in one area obviously doubles the chance of it hitting enemies and doubles the chance of getting kills, so the best and only tactic that should be implied with this building is to set up barbed wire in an area that you want to focus the fire of 1 or more mortars and watch the enemies fly around like fun little rag dolls.

When an enemy is coming at you with a large force, the mortar can thin out that force verryyy quickly.
Air Defence Use
Tent Use
Tents

Ahh tents, not used for camping this time around though kids. The tent is simple to use, you place it behind every other defence so that it can keep spawning defenders. simple and easy :)

Whatever unit you pick to use, each tent will only spawn 3 groups of it, So snipers, 3 per tent, grunts, only 3 squads of them etcc.

So always make sure they have cover to set up and defend from otherwise they will just keep diving on in after the enemy truck, unless this is what you're going for obviously.
Barbwire Use
BarbWire

So barbwire is a pretty simple one, it dramatically slows down enemy movements and causes them to gain and lose aggro randomly sometimes.
Barbwire should basically only be used to create a choke point where you want to bulk up or thin out enemy units.
The perks to this are simple. it makes you able to pick off their units slowly so that once they pass the barbwire they are low in numbers and simple to deal with.

Barrel Use
Barrels of fun

Barrels of fun, get it?? :D........ok im sorry

So rather that wire about how to use barrels ill just show you and give a small talk after.

So yeah, in CPU defence these barrels can be used to wipe out large groups of enemies.

But when you're being attacked they act as a deterrent, people will actively avoid them because they will kill troops. So these are used to defend walls, you should place them near to or within shooting ranges of the weaker parts of your base so if the enemy try using a focus fire, when they do so they will kill off their own units or at least damage them by blowing up barrels.

Also firefights between defenders and attacker can set them off and the mortar, so keep that in mind, the mortar could be used to randomly set off them barrels when you're under attack. just make sure the barrels aren't too close your any of your stuff because they do cause damage to your buildings and walls.

Oh and if you place barrels close enough together once one goes off they all go off.
Wall Use
Walling time

Walls.......i don't think this needs explainging.
But uses of them with other buildings help. The best way to use walls is to work them around your buildings, make the enemy go exactly where you want them to. Also think about how they cant get through them and make obsticals to stop them. Thats about all that can really be said here sorry.

"Free Veterans" works like a charm lol all u need is a good base and a bit of trial and error to find the right troops and cards to pair with the attack :)

Is there a different way to get veterans?
asdasdafegr 20 Apr, 2022 @ 11:18pm
In the Free Veterans section there is a problem with the Riots. I know that I can just rent them but still.
- In attack they cost 400 munitions.
- They are extremely hard to get the in the barracks and I'm like level 14.

what happened to the "Air defense Use?"
Grey Paint 11 Feb, 2022 @ 10:36pm
Don't use tank traps if you have less than or equal 2 tents.
if tank traps are placed away from the last line of defence and placed to block.
It will not work because tank traps counts the same as sandbags which place 2 units behind it in any defence and will draw agro.
