Map Type Guide
By Mozzie Sticks
A guide to the different types of maps, characteristicsof each, navigation difficulty, and how they can be navigated. I have named each of them accordingly based on their characteristics (not color).

If you have found any type of map that I did not cover here, comment below with a map seed and a name suggestion and I might just add it.

Welcome!
Thank you for looking at my map type guide. I won't bore you for long so here's a quick overview:

I have noticed there are distinct types of maps and have decided to categorize them based on their characteristics such as: Playstyle, Unique Georgraphy, Noticeable Structures, and Variants of other map types as well as possible hybrids.

Keep in mind these are MY experinces with the maps. It may not be completely accurate to whatever gameplay you experience.

Enough with that, let's get started!
Jungle Maps
Description:
I call these ones jungle maps because of the tall, skinny, vertical structures everywhere that are reminiscent of trees in a jungle or rainforest. I also noticed the disk-like objects that sometimes wrap around the "trees" almost like leaves

Gameplay:
These are probably one of the best map types for fast paced flights, dodging left and right to get through the map. Some are denser than others and others even have dead ends in the middle of them so fly with caution when you enter one for the first time.
Mountain/Monument Maps
Description:
These maps never look too complicated when you enter them for the first time. Usually just a big rock with a peak (Mountain) or a complicated looing structure (Monument). One thing is the same when it comes to these two different maps: They are both one big and tall rock with almost no entrances. When you get closer and lower there are sometimes other types of maps beneath them, but for the most part these maps are relatively boring.

(This is an example of a Monument Map. Seed: Illuminati)

Gameplay:
These maps are there for one thing: Small and boring points. There's never anything spectacular about these maps therefore it's very rare that you'll be DOING anything spectacular on these maps. Most likely you'll be flying along the side getting quick easy points or trying to find a portal to get to a better map

Canyon Maps
Description:
These maps have a very intricate surface with structures popping up from everywhere. However, between all the structures are dips where there is just nothing there. Sometimes there are channels that you can fly through very often there isn't. They sure do look kind cool though.

Gameplay:
I don't have the skill or the patients to find a good way to play this map. There are no good tunnels or holes to fly through. In all honestly it's a b*tch to fly though and get out of to the next map.
Motherboard Maps
Description:
These maps are made up of thin, wall-like structures that often have holes in them. I called these "Motherboard Maps" because the structures resemble mother boards or a computer chip. I find many that are green in color so that only helped with the resemblance. Beneath the surface of Motherboards and Computer Chips, there are sometimes dense and intricate mazes that can be hard to navigate through. All-in-all, these maps are pretty good.

Gameplay:
These maps are perfect for finding cool but safe routes to take. The "Chips" (Wall-like structures) sometimes have holes in them which makes for some pretty cool routes. While most routes may be safe, there are also more risky routes that may take you a few tries to get though. Once you get past the surafce of "Chips", there are some fast past mazes beneath that may take some skill to get through. You're sure to have fun on these maps!

Ant Hill Maps
Description:
These are some of the best maps for cool and fast paced fly-throughs. They usually resemble a Mountain Map but have many small tunnels and entrances all around the map. I have only come across 1 really good example of this map, but most maps are a hybrid that have this characteristic.

Gameplay:
These maps have some of the best routes in the whole game. They may not offer many points, but visually they look amazing. You'll have a blast playing these maps.

Layered Maps
Description:
Layers upon layers of structures to dodge. Typically they almost look like floating island but are always somehow connected. They also have lots of very narrow tunnels similar to Ant Hill Maps.

Gameplay:
There are proably so many different routes you can take both to get points and to look cool. Have fun on these maps, you have no other choice.
Floating Isle Maps
Description:
It's like something straigh out of the Avatar movie and I find it pretty rare. So far I've only run into one of these along with one hybrid. It is made up of floatinf islands that for the most part aren't connected. It doesn't have the best routes, but it's REALLY cool to fly through. (You're lucky I saved the seed for this one: 2036683906)

Like I said, It's straight out of the Avatar moive. If you look closely you'll notice the middle is pretty sense in structures.

Gameplay:
Not the best routes but you'll have one helluva time flying through it. You're sure to get some cool shots and maybe you'll find a good route through the dense middle. Have fun!

Slanted Maps
These maps appear to be completely slanted in one direction, giving a really cool effect when you see one for the first time. They have plenty of holes in them, even if you don't see them at first, for you to fly though and rack up a couple thousand points. Once you get into them, it bbecomes very fast-paced gameplay. But don't worry, it's usually pretty safe and if you know what you're doing you can get through one no problem.

Gameplay: Be prepared for some fun and easy points. All the holes and routes in these maps are perfect for some quick dodging and fast points. You may have to fly around for a short bit but once you find a good route, you'll have plenty of fun.
Community Suggested Maps
Anything beyond this section will be maps that have been suggested by the community. If you find a map that I haven't already discovered myself, feel free to leave a comment down below and I might just add your map here! (Don't worry, credit will be given).
Slope Maps
This map was a suggestion from Kaiser-Mikael:

These maps are very reminiscent of Mountain/Monument maps. They have the same basic concept: One big body in the center that you can fly around (and sometimes in).

However, these maps have one characteristic that sets them apart from Mountains and Monuments. As the name suggests, they have a slope-like structure that almost look like an actual ski slope (apart from the fact that there isn't anysnow of course).

As of right now there is only one map like this that I know of, so I can't say for certain how gameplay will be on all of them, but I'll tell you about the one.

Seed - 1607290448

This map seems to be more of just a cool looking map rather than one for good routes. I'm not the best player, but I played it for a couple minutes and couldn't seem to find many good routes myself. This was definitely a cool map though. Just behind the slope there's a sort of cave that might have some good pathways, but I couldn't get into any of them.

Thanks again to Kaiser-Mikael!

I don't find mountain/monument maps inherently boring, but they seem to be the most common type, which makes me get bored of them fast. I don't really like jungle maps, it's difficult to get high combos because of the small surfaces, and if you try to get through narrow holes, it's very easy to misjudge the perspective and crash. Layered maps are definitely the best though. They have so many different paths you can take and allow for really big combos.

You did ... observation to look for consistencies of properties to various levels and categorise these. Incredible, aha - YOU ARE A SCIENTIST!

You can add another type to the list imo: Pillars/Floating Pillars.
Basically what the name suggests: tall, floating pillars, go all the way down, and are not connected in any way. I've found only one and pretty much my favourite map.
