The other option would be to use their dreadnauts, although as far as I've seen all the really heavy drone tank-like units in the game all seem to be better for defending rather than attacking due to the fact that they have complete dogshit mobility. To test this out, you can go to the scenario battle mode and load up the dummy assault mission. Just make the preset with 3 dummies, 3 blasters and 3 shields and tell them to brain hunt. They'll be infinitely better at the job and much more survivable due to the shield.
