How to Knight (UPDATED, NO MORE UPDATES)
By Slenderp123
If you follow these simple steps, you're sure to be like the person (Commander Dante, Warhammer 40,000) in the thumbnail! I also add in some comments and put in some other stuff about Knight and general things about the game you can use to your advantage.

Just read this, and you will become the Jesus Christ himself. Or Sanguinius.

OVERVIEW
OVERVIEW
Knight is by far (in my opinion) the best melee-tank or juggernaut in the game, comparable to Wildling. He wields a copper sword and automatically starts at Str 3 with the 3 character affinities: Sword, Holy, and Defensive. The Knight also starts with 100 HP solo and 80 in MP, making him the most durable, rivaled only by Wildling.
CHARACTER AFFINITIES
Sword primarily focuses on, well, his swordsmanship. Everything on Sword circles anything that counts as a sword, which includes each of the following: Copper Sword, Steel Sword, Broadsword, Dragon Slayer, and Bone Sword.
  • Level 1 gives you the ability to strafe left and right, even in midair while charging and thrusting the sword. This is useful for dodging attacks or closing a gap/playing aggressively against the monster(s).
  • Level 2 is the 2nd most valuable skill, which allows you to pogostick (infinitely down-strike on any monster) on any monster and boss. It also gives the overhead swing which is useful for getting those pesky flying eyeballs, but jumping and pogosticking is a much better alternative.
  • Level 3 is pretty good, it allows you to hold the attack button to charge your thrust into a more powerful thrust. Essentially, more damage, and you can strafe while doing this. Also works with Overhead swing.
  • Level 4 is ABSOLUTE GOD LEVEL atrocious thing in the world. It essentially makes every sword's attack speed (except Dragon Slayer) equal to a dagger, fist weapon, or normal fists, if not faster. This is extremely overpowered, especially with swords having Shocking or Burning, even Splash Attack.
  • Level 5 just sucks. Yeah, you can spin around with your sword but the damage done by overhead swing and pogosticking is far superior. Don't get Sword 5.

Holy focuses on the survivability of the Knight. It's pretty good, but nowhere near as good as Sword if you want to try maxing this out first.
  • Level 1 makes it so you can't EVER take fall damage. This is exceptionally great since you may have the tendency to fall on accident in this game. Now you don't need to take Featherfall unless you don't want to die by floor spikes.
  • Level 2 makes it so you can shoot energy projectiles from your sword. It has charges and does not count as a spell anymore, which can recharge by fighting (i guess, I never really searched more into it). It's alright, but damage is pretty insignificant (I got 2-3 damage using these, but I guess it's still good if you maxed Sword first)
  • Level 3 makes it so your charges of the Legend of Zelda thing above gives you complete elemental resistence. Yes. Elemental resistance. (If you have 3 in, let's say Poison Resist, you're immune it poison)
  • Level 4 is basically Death Protection. This is very very good and you should get this after Sword 4.

Defensive focuses on the defense, if you couldn't tell by the name and the icon. It's also a good skill affinity, for almost every monster and boss especially.
  • Level 1 allows you to hold the down button to block any physical attack against you, which sacrifices durability. You have a limited amount, but it recharges slowly, so keep that in mind.
  • Level 2 makes you immune to knockbacks. Knockback is pretty much when you get attacked by a Goblin in the Dark Caves, you get knocked back and stunned for a bit.
  • Level 3 gives you a regenerating shield which makes you receive half the damage done by your attacker automatically.
  • Level 4 makes it so that if you time you blocks correctly, you will parry it and reflect the damage back at your attacker.
  • Level 5 makes it so that some attacks against you are automatically blocked, meaning if you forgot to block and you get stabbed, there's a chance the hit will do not damage and be "blocked."
CLASS WEAPONS
Copper Sword and Dragon Slayer swords are just awful. Copper is obvious, since it's the starter sword and you could get literally anything else. The only times when you should keep Copper and Dragon swords are if they have a godly trait like Life Steal, Splash Damage, or Fairy Magic and the other swords have worse traits.

Dragon Slayer is VERY slow, like Axe attack speed slow. It's so slow that Sword 4 only increases its attack speed to a normal sword's attack speed pre-Sword 4. The other 3 swords have higher DPS on Sword 4, especially if they have good traits.

Any of these 3 are KING. Steel Sword, Broadsword and Bone Sword.

Steel and Broad deal 3-6 and 3-7 damage respectively, whereas Bone Sword deals 5-9 damage. Paired with higher traits like Fairy Magic, Life Steal, Spirit Emitter, or even Frozen/Electric/Burning + Envenomed and Sword 4, these swords hit like a truck. Pair a jacked up Steel or Broad sword with Berserkitis and you've become a slightly better wildling.

BEST WEAPON ATTRIBUTES:
From Best to Worst, Top to Bottom:
- Life Steal: Self-explanatory
- Fairy Magic: Ignores Armor
- Splash Damage: AoE damage + Pogosticking/Overhead and Sword 4 is destructive crowd control.
- Spirit Emitter: Lots of spirits proccing with 2-4 damage per spirit adds a lot to your DPS
- Burning: Elemental damage
- Freezing: Stuns your target
- Electric: Elemental Damage
- Knockback+: This literally sucks
CLASS COMPARISON
ROGUE compared to Knight is more versatile, fast, and a trickster to play around with. Rogue makes more risky moves with his stealth and acrobatics, since he can steal items while invisible and dodge the shopkeeper in time with acrobatic roll, combined with less starting VIT than Knight. In my opinion, Rogue is slightly more difficult to master than Knight.

MAGE compared to Knight is trickier and fast fingers to play. There is much more management with how Mage works and his devastating spells can be levelled up and switched around to go for magic attack combos. Knight is much easier to play and master.

WILDLING is like the kung fu monk version of Knight. They have the same starting VIT and STR, but much more DEX at 4. Wildling is (in my opinion) the easiest class to master since all he does is punch things, get angry, punch more things in a fit of rage, then get Black Rage and Red Thirst in the process It's a Warhammer 40k joke. The only difference is that Knight's affinities center mostly around his own survival throughout the game. Knight has a much more likely chance to finish the game due to his Defense affinities and if he has Berserkitis w/ maxed Sword affinity, he is basically Wildling with a sword.
BUILD EXAMPLES
EXPERIENCED (+1 Starting Level Trait):
Caves 1, 2, 3, and before Forrest 1 - Sword 1-4
Forest 2 - Holy 1
Forest 3, Catacombs 1, 2, 3, Planes of Despair 1 - Holy max
Planes of Despair 2, 3, Before 2nd Dark Caves 1 - Defense maxed

This is the standard build. Sword 4 gives a vast increase to Knight's DPS even with a starter sword. The reason to take Holy next is so that you can max level it for 1 free revive per level. Defense is pretty mediocre since Vagante is a game where every bit of your health matters, except 90% of every attack in the game can be dodged with proper timing. Defense only really matters later on when enemies become a lot stronger and more difficult to dodge.

DEATH'S ACCOLYTE TRAIT (Death becomes easier to encounter)/b][/u]
Caves 1 - 3, Forest 1 - Holy Max
Forest 2, 3, Catacombs 1 - 2 - Sword 4
Catacombs 3 to end - Luck Max

This is a fun build for those who have Death's Accolyte. If you want to unlock the trait, you must complete 3 floors entirely while wearing a Death Becomes Easier To Encounter item.

Holy Max for the free revive since you'll always die in 1 hit, so any mistake you make can be undone with the revive. Then sword for DPS increase. Luck max for extra evasion chance and crit chance for even more DPS. As you can tell, this build is for people who know how to be patient or are able to comfortably complete whole levels without getting hit.

Don't get Sword 5, it doesn't work that well and its inconvenient placement will kill you. Defense does not help at all since taking 1 hit still counts as 1 damage, so blocking hits will kill you.
TIPS
If you don't have Sword 4 or Defensive 1, your weakness is everywhere except what's in front of you. Go into a tight space where you only have to worry about one direction and start thrusting and strafing or jump-strafing if you can or must.

Death Protection items basically adds another Holy Resurrection

Dragon Slayer is the only sword that doesn't go as fast as a dagger or fist at Sword 4, it has the slowest attack speed since it's basically a buster sword. I don't recommend using this sword at all, I prefer the Broad Sword over DS anyday unless the DS's stats are absolutely ridiculous (think Life Steal, +2 STR, +3 LCK, +4 DEX, +1 INT, +2 SPD on one DS ridiculous + Sword 4)

Bows can be extremely useful to Knight as well, it's not always exclusive for Rogue. I prefer using Longbow w/ Homing Arrows or Multishot normal arrows. Longbow has a faster loading and attack speed than both Crossbow (since you need to load it) and Shortbow.

If you have boots with Jumping on Enemies Deals Damage, it's not worth it since pogosticking is basically the same thing especially if your sword has an elemental property or Life Steal.
- However if you have Trailblazer, it's much better since burning lasts and is the 2nd fastest acting DPS (damage per second) element, beaten by Lightning/Electricity.

The best spell is obviously Frost Nova. You can freeze nearby enemies in place, allowing you to quickly position or run, then easily kill them off by freezing, stabbing, and repeating.

Evil Transformation is only good when you have Sword 4 since you can maximize your Life Steal with the supreme ATK SPD and damage output, especially if your sword has Life Steal on it as well, then good lord.

Strength, Defense, Luck, and Dexterity are the best Knight stats to use (from best to not really a priority best is from left to right, STR being the best of the best).

IN MULTIPLAYER
Knight excels at going in frontline and surviving front encounters with his Defense and Sword 1. He can work as a distraction or meatshield for Bow Rogue or Spellcast Mage. Knight's higher VIT also allows him to res more players if he wishes, which means if you want to live, give your healing to Knight so he can res you, or you can keep playing as Afterlife skeleton man.

Knight paired with Wildling can make a great pair-up, with Knight being the tank while he catches up with Wildling in DPS at Sword 4.

Knight with Mage support can turn the Knight into a killing machine; Mage can use Alchemy to automatically keep or toss any potions anyone can come across. Anything that a Knight needs, Mage can give, like STR or DEX while Mage can keep INT or LCK. If the Mage goes Enchant, he can upgrade Knight's weapons for permanent Burning, Freezing, AND Electric damage on top of their original attributes.

Paired with Rogue, Knight can work as a meatshield for Bow Rogue, or he can be a back protector or continuous meatshield while Rogue mows the lawn of children Goblins and Forest Archers with his acrobatics and stabbing.

Paired with Houndmaster, HM usually likes throwing his dog and is able to do crowd control and use the dog as a meat shield while both Knight and HM beat everybody else.

tl;dr Early game, tank things, cover your teammates, and don't let them die. Late game, go bonkers

I am not removing the tips; while some stuff is from the gamepedia, it's actually been updated and these are things I personally find helpful with my runs, although that's just my experience

I don't really know, it randomly charges in the middle of a level and in between levels as far as my experience goes with Knight, so you don't really have to worry about it running out

When does the holy weapon level 2 charge?
