Introduction
Yabo, adventurers! This is a guide showing everything that varies in Boundless - from tree trunks to gleam! If you want a lovely build, or want to know what gem is best for you, this is the guide for you! I will need a LOT of help from the community, if you know anything I've missed, feel free to comment or notify me some other way! (I know about all the gems. However, gleam is a very unknown subject to me. I am basing most of this on what's found in and around the Omnishop on the European Server's planets. I am also curious to know if the dark purple sedimentary rock found in Sanctum is obtainable in-game too. Anyways, on to the guide!
Trees, Trunks and Timber
So, in Boundless, if you just started off, you'll probably notice that there are 3 types of logs avaliable on your planet - Lustrous, Twisted, and Ancient. They all have their own models, and models for their planks. They also probably have similar, but different, colours. However, on other planets they have those too, but they are different colours! These all share one of the three types, and use their models, but (obviously) are the different colours. You can chop these with an axe or totem (or any tool really), of course, but the Omnishop on Munteen IV sells them pretty cheaply too.

They are all pretty similar - various browns, beiges, blah blah blah.

However there are some interesting ones - Bright Red logs - in Twisted and Lustrous. These can be found on Vulpto.

There is also a green Twisted log. It can be found on Nasharil.

Rocks, Stones, Decorations and Roads
So, next part of the guide, rocks. Rocks, again, share 3 distinctive models - even more distinctive than timber. Metamorphic, Sedimentary, and Igneous.

If you just started they probably look like this.

However, there are red versions, all on Vulpto, like above.

And there are these - Purple Metamorphic, and Yellow Sedimentary and Igneous. These are all found on Nasharil.

If you're a new builder, you may not know this, but rocks are one of the most advanced materials in the game. There's the basic rock, then there's stones - 2 made from one rock - and then refined. This made from stone. Bricks are also made from stone - 4 stones and some clay too, which is why you may see that clay is more expensive than other dirts. Then there's decorative blocks, made from refined. Here are the images (they also come in all colours):

Gems, Colours and Stats!
So, this is a less build-focused section, and a more 'general new-player section'. Or one who just wants to know which gems to focus on. Each of the gems is equally rare and valuable - and equally good, in their own way, for their purpose, for example, heavy hammers swing slower and do more damage proportionately. However, each gem you use is up to you! For Slingbows, you will need either the 'Repeater' or 'Charger' ability from the Slingbow Mastery Tree to get better use. There is one of each Chisel type. The Precise ones make more shapes, but use more durability due to removing less block each time. The wrenches have no differences, as do the torches, except for the fact that they emit a coloured light, making Diamond best for mining.

Ruby is the first gem. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Swift' and swing faster - this is the same as Copper and Silver. Its slingbow is the 'Sniper Rifle' of Boundless. It is a long-range charger. Its chisel is the Basic Slope. It is red, and found on Vulpto, low altitude.

Sapphire is the second gem. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Heavy' and swing slower - this is the same as Iron. Its slingbow is Heavy - with a low arc. It is hard to hit flying enemies. It is a slow-firing charger. This is also similar to the Iron slingbow. Its chisel is the Precise Square. It is blue (and with the deep-blue, best-looking in my opinion), and found on Nasharil, high altitude.

Topaz is the third gem. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Swift' and swing faster - this is the same as Copper and Silver. Its slingbow is the 'Assault Rifle' of Boundless - with crits. It is a luck-based repeater. It does 'electric' damage for purely extra damage on some shots. This is changed by Luck. Its chisel is the Precise Slope. It is yellow and found on Epsilo, high altitude.

Emerald is the fourth gem. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Infectious' and leave a DoT effect on blocks - this is completely unique. Its slingbow does a cluster shot (5 bullets) of infection too. It does not need an ability to maximise the usage - so it's a good gem-entry bow. Its chisel is the Basic Bevel. It is green and found on Alturnik, high altitude.

Amythest is the fifth gem. Don't worry, we're almost there! The only reason the screenshot is strange was because it looked shiny. It's not - but the shop put it in a weird place. I had to find a different stand. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Heavy Tunnelers' and leave do extra damage to basic blocks, I believe. Needs confirmation. - this is completely unique. Its slingbow is similar to the gold one (which is awful. Do not buy it. The gem one is ok though.) It fires 3 shots. It is a fast-firing spread (3 bullets) repeater. Its chisel is the Basic Square. It is purple and found on Munteen IV, high altitude.

Diamond is the sixth gem. Its basic tools (Hammer, Shovel, Axe) are all 'Scythe' and hit 2 adjacent blocks to the target - this is completely unique. Its slingbow is the 'Shotgun' of Boundless. It is hard to hit flying enemies effectively. It is a slow-firing Cluster (5 bullets) charger. Its chisel is the Precise Bevel. It is white, and found on Andooweem, low altitude.

Personally, I use the Diamond Slingbow and Shovel, with a Ruby Hammer, Grapple and Axe. I use all the chisels, one of each type is best (I mean I would, if I could afford 6 gem items).

All the hammers.

Torches.

Their original form.
The Great Gleam Finale
Oh boy, the unknown section. I know next to nothing about gleam, but I will tell you what I know.

This is the Omnishop selection.

Cream gleam (right) is cheapest and can be found underwater.

The rest of the gleam is increasing in value from right to left until 600 coin for one red gleam (unrefined). They can also all be crafted into gleam lanterns like in some pictures below.

There is also dark green and purple. This is very expensive where I can find it, and I think it is only given out by the devs for prizes. Needs confirmation..

Here are some additional screenshots I found, help would be great:
Basic Tips
Oh boy, this guide took a while to write. Well, it was my first one ever, and I'd like to finish with some tips.

The sanctum bug - if you go into a space smaller than 3x2, and return to Sanctum, the portal will jump up to the nearest 3x2 space above it. Useful for exploration and escaping caves.

Chisels - Precise Chisels should only be used if you need their specific shapes for a block, otherwise, use a Basic one.

Civilisation - The Omnishop is the best shop. It defines the market. It can be found in Munteen Paradise - practically the only city on Munteen - and you should buy from there. Just saying.

Go to Sanctum - Obvious, but if you're afk, go to Sanctum first.

Different colours - The reason I made this guide is almost anything you craft is actually affected by the colour of one of the materials used to make it. This is really cool. Placed workbenches get the wood colour, and all the other machine CRATES do, but when complete, all the other machines look identical.

Finally, feel free to visit me, Spooky! I have a house in Munteen Paradise and own the giant Skull Portal in the city. Feel free to drop by, or move in! (I'm making a city soon).

Have fun in Boundless, all! I hope this guide helped you!

Sorry man - gotta ask someone else on that one. Have you found the main community of the game? You can always ask in-game. I haven't played for a fortnight (away from home) so I don't remember, nor can I log in and see. Sorry and good luck!

:)

I've managed to convince the wife to play on the proviso that we build a city from the book she's writing.

That said she's getting pretty into exploration and mining. I was trying to figure out what half the skills do -- a problem when they seem to get more and more expensive as the game goes on.

What does "mastery" do?
And what does that "advanced placement options" do on the Core Skills tab?

Ah - I forgot to include that. Before I met everyone in Boundless and adventured by myself, I crafted my own tools - including a Copper Hammer. It was really bad, far worse than the stone ones. Seriously. If you don't die too much, just carry 9 Stone Hammers, it's way better.

Really useful, thank you!

I've got a question though.. Does crafting Copper Hammers actually make a difference? It feels like it deals the same Damage and has the same durability.
