16bit Trader has 29 sidequests. These quests all involve going to a large settlement and hitting the quest bubble in the lower left corner. This formula never changes. If something quest-related is available, there will be a bubble with "Quest" written on it in the lower-left part of the screen. Click the bubble to quest.

Your quest log is the bubble with the journal on the upper left part of the screen visible at the hub screen of any settlement, mine, or ruin. It tracks your active quests and (usually) tells you where to go.

You may only have up to three quests in your quest log at a time.

Quest lines will not spawn if you have a full quest log.

The quest log glitches if more than three quests are taken at a time.
If you take more than three quests (such as if a city has two quests available at once and you have two quests already in your log) the quest log will glitch and display objectives of unrelated quests, hiding your actual quest objectives. Your actual quests are still the quests you had accepted. Following the added "false" entries in the log will not lead to completion of those quests. I recommend avoiding breaking the three quest limit.

Side quests are found only in the large settlements. Smaller settlements are irrelevant and can be ignored.

Each large settlement has three areas: the exchange ($ icon), the marketplace (arrows icon), and the tavern (drink icon). These are the only areas where quests are found and finished.

All quest lines are available from the start of the game.

If a quest did not appear, reload the file.
A quest may not appear even if you are in the correct area and have room available in your quest log. Choosing to "Save & Exit" and loading the file up again may cause the quest to appear (both the "Continue" and "Load" option will work). It often takes multiple reloads for the quest to finally appear.

If you have started a quest the next step of the quest is always available in its location. The next step of a quest will take priority over any quests that start in the shared area.

IMPORTANT! Do not say "No" to quest givers!
If you leave town or "Save & Exit" after saying no to a quest giver that quest will be permanently gone and a new game will need to be started to complete all quests. Saying "no" then returning to the quest giver to say "yes" before leaving town or saving and exiting should be fine. Ignore the quest bubble if you do not wish to take on a quest yet. Ignored quests may still spawn.

Helper of People requires all 29 quests to be completed on one file. The game considers a quest complete once a reward has been earned. Other quest achievements will be completed while in pursuit of Helper of People.

Cities are sorted by alphabetical order. Each city has two or three quest lines beginning in that city.
