Beginner's "ADVANCED" Guide into Darwin Project
By Spartanid0
Its pretty simple: You are a prey, or a hunter.

Kill. Win! This is your teritory.

WILL UPDATE THE GUIDE ONCE GAME GOES LIVE ON 20.1.2020.

UPDATED 30.1.2019

If you want to have the highest chance of winning at the start of the game, do the following:

1. IN the main lobby, go to Crafting Wheel.

2. Click on the "Arrow" and change it to "Tracking Arrows". Tracking is the new meta.

TRAPS
3. Click on the "Trap" (hotkey 1) and Use the one that Benefits your playstyle the most. Here they are, explained in detail:

a) "Trip-wire". Use it Wisely and gain a huge momentum and advantage. Can be placed anywhere, tracks the enemy and lets you land that free shot. Costs 1 lumber 1 leather, pretty okayish for the start.

b) "Bear Trap", or How I like to call it, FREE HEADSHOT. Costs 1 lumber (INEXPENSIVE AF), and lets you hit that free headshot. All you have to do is wait for the enemy to parry witht he axe, and then give them one arrow to the face. In case they are aiming back at you, try to bait the arrow, or simply shoot one in the chest. (If the enemy has Teleport or Mega Jump, the could potentially escape the trap and move out for its duration). These are hard to spot on the ground, in the houses and especially inside trees and high bushes. Great all around tool, especially if paired with the new tool, "The Hook".

c) "The Hook". Newly Addition to the game, hook is a great tool that will let you shorten the distance between you and your enemy. It costs 1 leather (Also inexpensive AF) and you should always make 1 or 2 at the very begining. (I would advise to get 1 hook, 1 lvl of boots, etc). You can use it after jumping, gliding, parrying, teleporting, mega jumping, etc. All you have to do is hit the enemy with the hook, WAIT FOR THEM TO BE DRAWN TO YOU (DO NOT swing before they are in front of you or you will get slammed in the face), and then get that one free axe swing on them. Add some juice to your axe sharpener, and watch them cry about it.

d) "The Glider". Honestly, if you are not using the glider, you are a scrub. No worries, thats why you are here, to learn the theoretical part of the game so that you can actually improve your gameplay through constant grind and experience gain. Glider lets you move accors the map (usually between 200-300m of distance, based on how you use it). It is great for escapes, early aggressive approach on the enemy, and escaping nukes, lava falls and closed zones. Costs 1 lumber 1 leather, and is pretty inexpensive. Best value in the game.

e) "The Cage". If you are an absolute hardcore beast who cannot resist going toe to toe with your prey, this is the tool for you. Costs 1 lumber to make and is pretty easily obtained at the start of the game. However, when placed on the ground, anyone holding Right Click will easily spot it. That is why you should play it in a combination with one of the electronics or other tools.
For example, trap them with tripwire, then place a cage trap. Or, Use Icebolt electronic, approach them, place a cage, watch them cry. Try it out, and let me know how it goes. There is only one rule of the cage: If you are the one placing the cage, if you die often, play another tool.

f) "Snowball". These are fun, cost 1sec to make, no mats. You can put fires with them, destroy turrets, deer. When hiting a player, make sure to wait for their cold meter to drop before firing another. Also, pair it with immediate arrow. Just watch out, if they parry one in your face, your cold meter goes down quickly. Pay attention to it.

POWERS

4. Click on your "Powers". Choose out 3 out of the following :

a) Turret.
Why Turret?: Its OP: shoots deer for you, does 3 shots of 50 dmg each. Great all around for new and advanced players. Paired with smoke and placed well, it can be a game changer. Also, in clutch situations and 1v1, it puts pressure on the other player to destroy it. While doing so, they are exposed for at least 1 free shot from you and potential tactical positioning.

b) Teleport
Why Teleport? If you can use TeleAxe (Teleport+axe swing), you get a certain hit on the enemy. Also, it is great for moving around the map, escaping nukes, cold zones, lavas. Great Advanced yet simple tool.

c) Mega Jump
Why Mega Jump? : Any Mobility advantage that you can get early game will significantly help you win. Helps you reach your target, Electronics, or even escape from a tight situation. While in the air, you could also land a shot on the enemy or use TeleAxe.

d) IceBolt
Why Icebolt? It lowers the enemy's coldmeter by 40%, keeps them immobilized for a few seconds and lets you create a tactical advantage. YOu could place a turret, set a cage trap (or do both), collect arrows, use healing, make fire, escape. Literally, you have about 4 seconds of time to decide your next move. And if their cold meter is already low, they may be on the run for a chance to craft a fire. Perhaps turn that to your own advantage?

e) The Arena
Why Arena? Until it gets nerfed, great electronic for everything. In danger? Use arena and craft armor+use heal. Killed someone? Use arena to loot the body safely.

f) Radar
Why Radar? IF you want wall hack for 15 seconds, radar is the tool for you. As a bonus, you can see clues.Enough said.

h)Energy Shield
Why The Shield? Also known as the "Bubble", shield is a great electronic. If used properly, it could save your life and give you an advantage over your opponent. If you find yourself in a cross fire, pop the Bubble and you're good to go. However, disadvantages of using the Bubble are its enormous hitbox. You will get bounced around like a drunk friend on the dance floor. Just remember this: Your best friend is the cage, your worst enemy is the gravity storm.

EQUIPMENT

- Boots - I go for Hunter Boots. Tracking is the new meta. However, consider Evader boots for more passive playstyle.
-Cloak - Runner Cloak= Infinite, Almost Unlimited Stamina at lvl 5. Ghost Cloak= if your playstyle is more defensive. Revenge Cloak=good for combining with Hunter boots.

-Axe -
a) Axe sharpener - PURE DPS. Expensive though. If you like that Sweet taste of doing 200+ dmg with 1 axe swing, or hate getting trapped and killed in CAges, get the AXE SHARPENER BABY! Ez win, salt lvl over 9000.

b)Lumberjuck: Why? Because you need SPEEEED when looting/crafting.

There are 5 ways to heal in the game:
a) by finding a Med Kit from a loot box or a deer carcas
b) by killing another player (300 hp, currently the best method)
c) by a Game Director (should he/she wish to spend their heal on you)
d) by killing a deer (50 hp, slow and insecure way)
e) Scavenger Axe (+25hp per lvl)
There are many deers around the map. And players. All you have to do is kill them.

DEsigned to Kill! You are a Hunter, not the Prey! Show them how its done. Remember to leave a Thumbs up, Follow, and Share if you like this guide. If you are a new player, and if you haven't finished all of your introductory quests, you won't have the "hook" unlocked. Finish all quests at the begining in order to unlock the hook. It is worth it :)

I don't know what everyone has against this guide. Besides some unnecessary spelling mistakes it gives a good overview for newer players what how good each items are and what their place is in the current meta.
