How do I Spawn an Engineer
The example below shows you where the Engineer unit is located in the unit roster. For this guide i have chosen to use the Rebel faction as my example. For all factions the Engineer unit can be found in the same location as shown within the yellow borders.
You will note the engineer is worth 60 Manpower (MP) and contributes 5 resource points (CP) to my allowable CP total. For more information on these settings check out my 'Guide for the In-Game Interface' and look at the section titled 'Resource and Manpower Overlay'.When you order the Engineer unit the game will spawn in 2 Engineer soldiers.

The Engineer's Inventory
The below image shows the Engineers inventory.
To display the inventory, select the soldier and press 'i'. All inventory items can be transferred to other soldiers.
Each Engineer has the same inventory. I will identify each item below.
Note: Inventory contents may differ between each faction when game is released.

1st Row
M16A2 rifle
- contains 300 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition
- fires single shot
- has a basic iron sight

2nd Row
1 x RDG-M Smoke grenade
- useful for concealing the units movement when under fire from the enemy
- good to use as a decoy to give the impression that a larger force is approaching from the location of the smoke

2 x M18A1 Claymore Anti-Personnel Mines
The image below shows a mine that has been placed (green flag) and a mine that is being placed (red flag).

- it is a proximity mine that kills enemy soldiers and light vehicles
- it should be placed in areas where enemy soldiers are likely to travel
- it can also be placed as a last line of defence around strategic defensive positions
- if placed near a stationary vehicle and detonated, there is a much larger secondary explosion which is likely to take out a larger enemy force
- once placed it cannot be picked up
To place a mine, select the Engineer and click on the Mine icon on the quick action bar shown below. Then click on the location you want to place the mine. Holding shift will allow you to place two mines consecutively.

Mines will detonate if shot at

3rd Row
C4 High Explosive
Can be selected by clicking the secondary weapon box beneath the rifle as shown below.

- can cause severe damage to heavily armoured vehicles
- can destroy lightly armoured vehicles
- has a 9 second delay from throw to detonation
- particularly useful to level single story buildings and obstacles to enable improved fields of fire for fixed gun emplacements. The below depicts a single C4 explosion on a farmhouse in the 1v1 Creek map. I usually do this to give the fixed gun emplacement, that is built by the Engineers a better field of view toward the centre ammo point on the map.

3 x Medical Kits

- used to heal the soldier when injured. Just click on the first aid icon in the quick action bar
- AI will use these automatically if it feels it needs to.
- cannot be used to heal other players

Building Fortifications with Engineers (WIP)
Engineers can build 4 levels of fortification at flag points in Last Man Standing game modes and at locations where a Shield is seen on the ground in Combined Arms game modes. Shield locations are easily identified by the small white triangle shown on the minimap in the image on the right.

How to build.
1. Select Engineer
2. Move mouse cursor over flag point or Shield.
3. Right Click when you see the mouse cursor change to sandbags.
4. Hold shift and right click to give consecutive orders.
5. A small blue bar will indicate progress on that fortification

Below are the stages for Last Man Standing game modes.

Stage 1.
The Heavy Machine Gun
Important to note that the gun only has 500 rounds unless you build the Stage 4. If Stage 4 is built it will have unlimited ammunition.

Stage 2.
Single width Sandbag Wall on 3 sides

Stage 3.
Double width Sandbag Wall on 3 sides.

Stage 4.
Ammunition Point
The small white circles are from the ammunition points on both sides. Any soldier within these small circles will reload automatically.

Below are the stages for the Combined Arms game modes.

Stage 1.
Fortified Bunker

Stage 2.
Heavy Machine Gun
Once again, the gun only has 500 rounds of ammunition unless you build Stage 5.

Stage 3.
Single width Sandbag Wall on 3 sides.

Stage 4.
Double Width Sandbag Wall on 3 sides

Stage 5.
Ammunition Point
Note the smaller circles. Any unit within those 2 smaller white circles will reload automatically.

Repairing with Engineers
Footnote
As of the time of this article being written 11th Apr 2018, the Devs have stated that a new damage system will be added in the future. Therefore the contents of this section are current at version 0.996.3.

Engineers are the only unit that can repair heavily damaged vehicles. Heavy damage is things such as Hull damage. The image below shows a Technical Grad-P of the rebel faction with a blown front right tyre and Hull damage. This is shown in detail through the red shading on the diagram of the vehicle at bottom left of the screen.

In the next image, I selected a rebel soldier, who was crewing the vehicle and gave him the repair order by selecting the spanner icon in the quick action men along the bottom of screen. When the repair of the wheel is complete, it no longer shows as red in the diagram at bottom left.

Now when I order the rebel soldier to repair the hull damage, i am present with a red x meaning that he cannot perform the action. This tells me that the remaining damage depicted in the vehicle diagram is beyond his ability so must be heavy damage. Which means only an Engineer can repair it.
In the below image, I selected a rebel Engineer, gave him the repair order and he set to work repairing the heavily damaged hull. When all repairs are completed, you will notice the red shading has disappeared from the vehicle diagram at bottom left and the vehicle can once again be used as intended.

In Domination/Assault Zones you can also use them to build defenses around the basic objectives. Up to 8 total sandbags.
Last Guardian 3 May, 2018 @ 11:12pm
In Evacuation mode. Stage 1 fortification is circle low walls of sandbags. Stage 2 adds a high wall layer inside the circle. Stage 3 add 4 ammo boxes arround it. Stage 4 adds 4 Heavy Machine gun M60 on high walls. Stage 5 will add an Anti-tank Missile launcher in the middle of the circle.
I don't know if the game is broken or somewhat but ATGM launcher can only shoot 4 times and it stop firing even there is plenty of ammo left. All MG will have unlimited ammo.

In Combat/Assault Zones, you can use them to fortify flags at two levels, I think?
