How to get Sacred Gold to work on Windows 10/11

Many people on Windows 10 and modern computers have trouble getting Sacred Gold to run, for me it kept freezing whenever it was loading fonts. But I found this quick and easy fix that made the game work for me.

1: Go to the file location of Sacred Gold. (This can be done easily by right clicking the game in your library and selecting properties, local files, browse local files.)

2: Find config.exe and run it.

3: Make sure these boxes are checkmarked, "Fullscreen" "Play Movies" "32 Bit Color" "Filter Active (anti-alasing)" "Video Compatibility Mode." "Sound Activated"

4: Click ok and exit config.exe. (Note: I myself was following my guide on my most recent install, and found the config.exe didn't save these options, so open it up again and make sure everything is still checkmarked! Then exit out by clicking ok.)

5: Start the game normally through the Steam Library and it should load and work.

set compatibility mode on sacred.exe to windows 98, it works then

I discovered there are 2 Settings.cfg files in your Sacred folder
1 is Settings.cfg, the other is Steam_settings.cfg
The Steam cfg actually resets the config to the default.
As long as Steam cfg is in the folder and you click all the boxes, when the game launches it uses the Steam cfg which unchecks all the boxes you just clicked.
I deleted my Steam cfg and it ran just fine

I run Sacred Gold on win 10 x64 Pro and the only thing i did to start the game was to change the compability to Windows XP SP3 and it work very good for me.
