Dystopia Pickup Games
Aside from playing pubilc games, something many Dystopia players enjoy doing is organizing and playing "pickup games" (PUGs). These consist of 8 to 12 players getting together and playing a semi-organized match of 2 rounds against one another. This guide is to help you learn how to get into PUGs and how they work so everything can go smoothly!
The Steam Group & Chat
To start pugging, you need to join the steam group:

http://cs2bus.com/groups/dyspugs

The group is public and anyone can join. Note that by joining this group you will probably get at least a few announcements each night, as this is the primary method for how the players alert each other that they're looking to start a game.

Once you've joined the group, you should either wait for one of the announcements to happen, or ask a group administrator to do one. Then, join the group chat and wait for more players to join. Being in the chat is important - this is how everyone will know when there are enough players to start!

Once a certain number of people have joined the chat (usually 10), everyone will then connect to a specified server and start the pickup game process. The server will most likely have a password, just ask someone for it (it's probably "dgl").

If there's already a pug in progress, feel free to spectate, but make sure not to join a team!
Pre-game Setup
Once all players are in-game, the game setup will start. This consists of choosing captains captains, the captains picking their teams, and coming up with a strategy and game plan and finally playing the match.

Before starting a pickup game, you should make sure to have at least 45 minutes to an hour available! A pug consists of two rounds, and with the pre-game setup it can take a fair amount of time in all.

Captains
The first thing that must be done is choosing captains. Two players need to volunteer for the role, one for each team. When you're new to pugs, you shouldn't try to captain and instead learn from others first.

When everyone is in-game and players call for captains ("caps"), everyone should go spectate (hit "M" and under "Team" -> Spectate). This ensures the team lists are clear so there's no confusion that everyone is ready to proceed.

Picking
After the captains have volunteed and joined teams they will start picking players from the spectators to join their team.

Players who are not captain should stay in spectate until a captain calls their name. At that point they join the captain's team and wait for the match to start.

Strategy
A captain may wish to direct his team and come up with a strategy, including telling the players what to play. You should try and follow the captains advice, or let him know he wants you to play something you're inexperienced at and would rather do something else.
Finally: the Match
Once everyone is on a team and have their strategies set and are ready to go, someone will call a map restart vote ("callvote map_restart" in console). When it passes and the map restarts, the game will be "live". If something is wrong (someone is AFK, or crashes, etc.) then someone may call not live ("nl"). In that case, wait for the issue to be resolved and for another restart.

If everything is set and the game is live, play to the best of your ability and have fun!

Stopwatch Mode
After the round is over, don't leave the server! Pickup games are played in "stopwatch mode", which means both teams play the map twice, once on each side. The victor is decided by which team has the best time to complete the map, or who got to the further objective.

If the round was really poorly balanced, then the players may decide to pick new teams and/or a new map rather than play out a second round. In this case it's generally fine to leave if you'd like, but otherwise it's considered poor manners to leave a pug without giving the other team their round, so try to stick around for the full match!

That about wraps this up. Have fun and keep on puggin~
