Level a character to 50 for the Master Acheivement - Cheese Guide
By barsiem
Hi all,

I wasn't going to grind for this trophy but it was the only one I didn't have, which stupidly bothered me. I then realised I could do it quite quickly with a bit of a cheesing 1980's style.

I would recommend doing this for the trophy only - create a new save using your existing party and then delete said save after you get the trophy.

I completed this in less time it took to write this guide - that's taking my Bard up 23 levels! Definitely seems the easiest way to get the acheivement but if anyone has a better way let us all know!

Version 1 - A Bard with a Horn
A Bard of fairly high level - Mine was lvl 27 but I think you could probably do this from around lvl 20 if your AC is good enough (mine was -19)
A couple of Flame / Frost horns (you could also possible get away with Fire) with full charge, or possibly just one

Desirables:
One Mage with Lvl 7 Magician / Conjurer spells - will be a pain without this but not impossible

How to do it:
Get your party of 2 and head to the catacombs. Use you mage to teleport to the staircase on Level 2 at N8 E11 and go down to lvl 3, or walk but beware of traps. From there get your Mage to cast Ybarra Shield, Greater Revelation & Greater Levitation and your bard to play Travellers Tune and then walk to N4 E13 (running from the battle at N7 E12).

You will face some 69 Ghouls. Attack, then set your Bard to defence, and your mage to attack. Repeat until your Mage is dead! Then attack again, and use your Flame (or equivilant) horn against the Ghouls to finish them off easily. You won't be able to open the chest but that's not important. Your bard should not get hit if he / she is levelled enough

After the battle is over, go to N3 E9 on the same level. Fight the 36 Wights and again use the Flame Horn to finish them off quickly.

This two battles will net your bard circa 153K exp! Go back to the stairs at N8 E13 and go to the second floor, then immediately go back down and repeat the two battles. Repeat until you have 2.8m exp for your bard. Then, walk home - making sure to save before you go over any traps in case you get stoned! Go to the board and see your level fly and the acheivement pop :)

those fights you mention don't reset in the remake without using legacy options, and a ybarrashield you don't get, at all, until you get the magic mouth question unless you mean DRBR. I you're doing this you might as well after you hit 7 mag and 7 con for two mages so you have all buff spells change them to wizard and wait until you get REDE. Does more damage and cheaper than DRBR and SHSP. One cast will kill them all. after you get that change them back to the alterate co/ma for the lowest level requirements and hit it. if you're waiting until you've got elf cloaks, shield rings, shield staffs, elf cloaks, etc before you start trying this you can easily do that with one mage only and double the exp gains. That said if you manage to get a very low AC on a mage you can take 2 mages only with mibl and repeat the beserker fight.

[Despite the lack of 396 Barbarians reset, power levellng is alive and well in BT:Trilogy. If you are in BT2, you can power level any of your characters to dizzying heights. Strategy]

You can do the same trick earlier too if you are in a hurry.
I haven't got to dargoth's yet, so I bet i'm missing tons of xp - but I started doing your trick on lvl 3 of the tombs .

There are a batch of doors that are all clumped together and it is monsters galore. And you can tp to the lvl 2 stairs, take them down, do it -then walk back up and back down.

I was able to get an archamage at start (transferred in) then I summoned some wind dragons -
and I used them instead on kringle bros on lvl 3 of the tombs to get a lvl 30 archmage.

I haven't moved on yet cause I'm liking the xp - its probably way slower than what you recommend, but I was in a hurry and had to try it - and it works!

Thank you for sharing your idea!

Here's to Dargoth!

You can with the appropriate legacy mode enabled, but yes with repeatable encounters turned off this no longer works I’m afraid

Can't do this anymore. Those encounters only happen once :steamsad:

The infinite exp from the first big quest/dungeon reward in BT3 is fixed in this version? Otherwise it'd be much faster .

If you're going to power level your characters I would suggest waiting until the 3rd chapter where the stat cap is 30.

None of the battles on Cata 3 are repeatable at current date playing default, non legacy

Despite the lack of 396 Barbarians reset, power levelling is alive and well in BT:Trilogy. If you are in BT2, you can power level any of your characters to dizzying heights. Strategy:

1. Dump party in Guild, and pull out one arch mage.
2. Exit Guild and cast Kringle Brothers
3. Return to Guild and swap out arch mage for any character, but if not a mage or bard, then make sure they have a light wand or some means of lighting.
4. Enter Dargoth's Tower; if you have ZZGO, TP to it. Why Dargoth's? The balance is perfect: Kringles can kill all monsters with one breath attack, while having enough AC and HP to survive for a long time. Kringle breath range is 50', and most monsters spawn within that range. Dargoth monsters often appear in large groups and are worth a lot of XP. With just one PC in the party, there is no XP split; it is not uncommon to obtain over 100,000 XP per battle (that's one level).
Using this process I power levelled my arch mage to over L200, 2000+HP and 2000+SP.

Finish Game, Mangar's Tower level 1 and 2 Summari, Ghoul's, Eye's and Ghost's, leveled all to 50. (Took only my mages to Catacombs to level them through Wizard and then added party back when they were even for level 19 all). Love this Game

I had an level 13 Wizard when I started who can cast level 7 spells. I summonded 6 Demon Lords (I got one Greater Demon who I fired), buffed the party then recharged my mana at Roscoe's. The trip down was 24 mana, casting repel undead was 4 mana - more often than not one of the demon lords cast a group damage spell saving me the cost - and 24 mana to get back out to level. I would say around 80 mana total but it took longer since he was lower level.
