Guild BAM need-to-knows in TERA EU (patch 79 update)
By Sunflare
Hello stranger,

New to TERA and wondering what guild BAMs are all about? Or tired of guessing their spawn times? Whatever your reasons, I hope here you'll find the answers you're looking for.

This guide is more of an information thread - just like the one I created on the regular forum[board.tera.gameforge.com] in June 2017. The forum thread is now deleted because moderators keep removing content instead of creating and updating it, that's why I decided to create this little guide, so I could update it when needed.

Cheers,
Sun

Note: I updated this guide after patch 114 (Feb 2022) despite TERA EU Support refusing to give the community information about spawn times.

Guild BAMs in a Nutshell
What are guild BAMs indeed
These are easy-to-fight boss monsters which require ideally a raid to kill because of their increased endurance (scroll down for information about loot). It's a good occasion for available guild members to team up and join the fight by forming a raid or joining one.

How to find them
Once you've seen a global system announcement that a guild BAM is about to spawn, it will make its appearance a few minutes later in the zone specified. Each BAM used to have a fixed spawn location before. Now they spawn somewhat randomly within their spawning area. Only 1 guild BAM appears at a random time everyday in the open world (see below for spawn times and locations).

Guild quests
There is a daily guild quest associated with killing the guild BAM - one quest per day which becomes available to take as soon as the announcement that the gBAM is on its way appears. All guilds can take the quest, provided they have available so called Valderon Tokens (weekly guild quest points), i.e. not 1700/1700 already (depending on guild size).
History of Guild BAMs
These buffed boys used to spawn in the open world at first. This meant all fights on Killian (the PvP server) were in a PvP-enabled environment, while fights on Mystel and the other (PvE) servers were taking place in a PvE environment.

Drops were also given in a different way - top DPS raids could get a box or two of tradeable best set pieces + gems and gold. Almost like old Guild Wars BAMs on Sunday but without the 'final hit' rule.

Then guild BAMs got moved to Civil Unrest where we were having 2 PvP and 4 PvE area fights every week. It was great, as players could plan their attendance based on PvP/PvE preferences. Check the video on the right for reference.

But now they've been moved back into the open world after no consultation with players. This means no PvP fights over gBAMs anymore which is extremely disappointing.
Important Part
1. Once a guild quest has been accepted (by any guild member), any level character can complete the quest as long as they interact with the BAM, i.e. they need to hit the BAM after it spawns and witness its death (= be within 100 m of the BAM when it dies).

2. You should avoid dying. If you do die or disconnect, however, and respawn away from the big boy, make sure to hit it after coming back, else you risk failing to advance the guild quest and/or not getting rewards.

3. Should the BAM reset (by reset I mean reset its current position to its initial spawn location; its HP will not reset!), you must hit it again, otherwise you won't complete the guild quest and/or won't get rewards even if your party/raid has earned a top 5 rank.

4. BAM quest disappears automatically. If you didn't take the quest, it will disappear with BAM's death. If you took the quest, it will disappear 2 hours later irrespective of status, which means even a completed but undelivered quest will automatically fail 2 hours after it was accepted, therefore you should deliver the completed gBAM quest as soon as possible.

5. It's advisable to lower your video settings (in addition to the automatic adjustment) and even completely relog (= restart the game client) while waiting for the BAM to spawn in order to avoid crashing mid-fight and risk your contribution towards completion of the guild quest not being counted, as well as not getting rewards.

5.1. In addition, there's now an in-game setting (in case you don't know what "fps mode 3" is) to disable player skills effects. Make sure you activate it before you join the fight.
Tips & Tricks
You could keep an offline alt in the raid and still get a reward on it, provided it interacted with the BAM and the latter didn't reset afterwards. This is actually good news for people who happen to genuinely crash just before the end of the fight - they would still get a reward if their raid was in top 5, just wouldn't complete the guild quest. Having too many offline raid members, however, carries the risk of not dealing enough damage for a top 5 rank, so this is a double-edged knife.

Similarly, you don't need to be there when the BAM spawns. It's enough to join a raid and hit the BAM at least once for you to get a reward box, provided your raid ends up in top 5. Which doesn't mean every raid leader will agree to invite you seconds before boss dies, thus lowering the amount of gold everyone else who actually contributed would get. At the same time, inviting people mid-fight won't cost you that much if you're a raid leader but it could mean a lot to them.

There's a very, very low chance for you to get 2 rewards on the same character if you fought the BAM both on your own most of the time and as part of a raid towards the end of the fight. For this to happen, your individual damage before joining a top 5 raid must have been enough for a top 5 rank on its own.

The fewer the raid members, the higher the gold reward per capita. But also the higher the risk of not getting any reward whatsoever should your party damage not be enough for a top 5 rank. So don't be greedy, as you may leave empty-handed.

Last one is neither a tip, nor a trick but there's a known bug where - on a very rare occasion - one would contribute to a battleground guild quest twice. It can be seen during jackpot hours but it could happen at any time*. If this happens to you, you are likely to get 2x the reward**. It remains a mystery as to how and when this bug occurs in the first place. As far as guild BAM quests are concerned, you could contribute twice if you joined a raid mid-fight but this won't net you 2 rewards unless you did insane damage on your own first and/or there were just 4 parties present.

*Last bug report I've seen is from 24th January 2019.
**Not 100% guaranteed but it's a safe bet you will get double rewards. I've personally experienced this bug once.

Evidently, it's still not fixed 15 months later.
Schedule & Locations
Here are the currently applicable spawn windows (as of patch 90, February 2020):

Feel free to download the image or bookmark this page for future reference. Just, please, don't pretend you didn't know who put together the previous timetable before cutting my signature and reusing the same image. You know who you are. Sorry but I just needed to say it. I feel much better now, thank you. :-) (January 2019)

Location descriptions in the schedule above are there to help you remember but if you're rather new to guild BAMs, screenshots below should give you a better idea.

Anansha:

Frygaras & Sabranak:

As you can see, there is more than 1 possible spot as now gBAMs spawn randomly at one of the pre-set spots but always on channel 1 and within the drawn area. Old fixed locations are still a possible spawn location, btw.
Rewards
Now we're talking!

Rewards are given to the top 5 groups (or individuals) based on their overall damage dealt to the BAM, sorted in a descending order starting with the highest damage group. Top 1 gets Princely Guild Supplies, ranks 2-3 get Baronial Guild Supplies, and Ducal Guild Supplies for ranks 4-5 (see below for descriptions). There's also gold given to each raid member equally. Gold pool to be shared differs based on group's rank.

Princely Guild Supplies - given to top 1 group; drops varying amounts of the listed items, same as the Civil Unrest reward box.

Baronial Guild Supplies - given to top 2-3 groups; drops varying amounts of the listed items, same as the Civil Unrest reward box.

Ducal Guild Supplies - given to top 4-5 groups; drops varying amounts of the listed items, same as the Civil Unrest reward box.

Reward examples:

Rank 1, 30-man raid
