I was seldom short on cash and didn't have to resort to underhanded trickery to get to three stars, but then perhaps Tarquin was particularly cooperative with me or something?
I took your advice, after my second near bankruptcy, and scrapped the hospital, forego curing people and just played for money. Which is really hard for me, because I want to care for people, even little fake ones.. Around level 8 I think, when I had established some treatment rooms and had a skeleton staff, I did get a GP's office and treated a few people. There were usually about 40 people waiting in line, but the large crowd was helpful during the epidemics. Having some treatment going on and giving people things like benches and telephones raised my reputation enough to get the first star without expending anything more.
I think I learned a lot about training and staffing. Probably things that other people figured out right away, but it really helped when you have to limit what you can do to.
Rooms that I keep closed/ sold mid way are: Surgery, Injection Room, DNA, and XRay.
The money just vanishes and never returns. I complete tasks but its not enough to get me out of the red.
Two Point Studios on this one level have managed to ruin and sap the fun out of a whole game for me. Well done thats an achievement.
