I understand that you found it comfortable and that it helped you on your early playtime. But my guide is intended to explain which are the best weapons strictly in terms of their performance, by how effective they are essentially (the reasoning behind my rankings is found in the Weapons: Firearms section).
My choices are meant to help both new players and veterans alike. This means that the best weapons will be the ones that give you the highest chance of success in any map, including extremely difficult ones which new players tend not to play at first for obvious reasons. The winchester unfortunately doesn't meet that criteria, but I'm glad that some players can find it useful regardless.
well, i need to say.. winchester is good for starting, for newbies, it's was very comfortable to aim with it
i only have 50h now and already ok with revolver. but winchester helped a lot
However, now is impossible to do so, let's say 10 of them then now I hardly can instant kill one while my video back then is 7-8 by simply aiming at that area, even hipfiring, 9mm/.22lr weapons just take only 1-2 rounds if hit correctly on that stem box, bolt action weapons will be harder but not as hard as trying to put 2 high caliber rounds on their forehead and they are still not dead. I have mods but all of it are just reskin mods, doesn't affect the gameplay nor I turn any mutations or realism mode on.
However, this doesn't mean that you can't get good results with it. Like any weapon, good or bad, sometimes it comes in handy if there are no better options available. But, being able to get good results with it doesn't mean that it's a good option compared to all the other firearms.
i just completed broadway2 classic SOLO with a hatchet, glock, and super x3
i also used a winchester, it's a good weapon imho, 16 round, very good accuracy, not too fast, so i can't panic with it like with automatic guns
