Folks, this is based on several real guides to snipers, adapted for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2.


Thou shall not kill everything in sight

In most cases, killing everything in sight will only get you discovered, then rushed and machined guned to death. Even if you can achieve a kill, consider letting the guy go and see where he goes. If he stays still for a long time, THEN stealth kill him.


Thou shall kill soldiers that no one will notice

It is best to kill soldiers that can't be seen by any other soldiers. That way they cannot be missed. That usually means you work from the outside in. Look for soldiers on patrol routes that leave them to the edge of the area, then shoot them when they are out of view of their buddies.


Thou shall shoot calmly

Take a deep breath, hold, then steadily pull the trigger (not jerking it). Hurried shots usually miss unless you're at point-blank range. It is obvious that you need to aim for the head or the chest. Do NOT aim for top of the head as bullet can glance off the helmet, alarming the target (and revealing your presence)


Thou shall kill enemy snipers first

Your primary threat is enemy snipers, unless you're discovered. Enemy snipers don't radio in, so you can kill them to your heart's content.


Thou shall displace after every shot (if you are allowed to)

If you are free to move, it is best to displace after every shot, at least somewhat so enemies do not know where you are shooting from even if they know you are close by.

Keep in mind that there are certain sequences in the game where you are locked in place until the sequence is over. That is normal.


Thou shall keep both weapons fully loaded as much as possible.

Keep the pistol for when you move at a crouch or standing, and the rifle when you're crouched or prone for longe range shots. Both should have magazine topped off as much as possible. It is bad to have a weapon empty or near empty.


Thou shall practice in distance judging

Do NOT rely on the red ball indicator. That makes you lazy. Instead, you should use it to LEARN how to compensate for wind and bullet drop based on distance.



Thou shall hide in shadows and foliage whenever possible

At night, the only way to hide from enemies with night-viz is to hide in foliage, and you can get very very close and still not get discovered if you are careful. In day time, foliage can almost completely conceal you from detection.


Thou shall be patient

Sometimes, it is best to let the enemy go, as they will often leave you and you can stealth kill them later. At times, one guy that moved away will cause others to move as well, opening you a path. So don't be in a hurry to kill everything. Identify all enemies present (use binocs to ID them) then you can track them much better.

Finally... Thou shall be bold.

There are some areas of the map where you MUST take the initiative and deal with the enemy soldiers, in order to continue, as it may be impossible to pick them off one by one. Remember, set up ambush, then execute with boldness.
