You're going to need 7-zip or software like 7-zip, I'm going to assume you're using 7z for the rest of this guide. If you don't already have it you can find it here:

If you're plan is to convert your existing farm entirely into a flat map I would strongly suggest also changing the map type to flat. Flat maps require 25% more XP to level up crops and give you 20% less money, this is just to help balance the map types. I'll include how to change the map type in this guide, if you opt not to then you're making it easier for yourself then is intended and may as well just edit your levels at that point.

Always edit backups, if you mess something up without a backup it might be difficult to get your farm back to a point where it can even be loaded.

Step 1: Close the game.

Step 2: Navigate to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\89972734\673950\remote\Farms


This is where all of your saves are locally saved.

Step 3: Right click on the save file for your world (farm_#.data), hover over the 7-Zip option to expand the 7z menu and click the first option ("Open archive").


Step 4: In the new window, right click on the farm file and select "Edit".


This will open your save in your default text editor, for me it's Notepad++, but will likely be notepad for you.

Step 5: Near the start of this file you'll see "FarmStyle":"FarmStyleDefault", change this to "FarmStyle":"FarmStyleFlat" (change the word "Default" to "Flat").



Step 6: Press ctrl+f to open the find window.


Step 7: A farm is saved in 25 chunks (the 24 unlockable sections+starting section). If you search for "chunkid", it will take you to the first chunk.


Step 8: You want to replace the listed chunk with "Flat_Chunk" (in my case it was "TwoMountains").


Step 9: Repeat this process for the other 24 chunks, replacing them all with "Flat_Chunk". You can also use this process to replace/remove any specific chunks you might want to change.

Step 10: Once you've finished editing the file, save and close it.

Step 11: Back in the 7z window, it will tell you that the file was modified and ask you if you want to update the achive, select okay and close the 7z window.


Step 12: Launch the game and enjoy. :)
