Special items are items that are recieved after praying to Charon at a Spiritual Shrine. When you obtain one, it will be shown in the slot next to your spell. You can only have one item at a time - if you obtain a new item whilst you already have one, the old one will be destroyed.

Spiritual Shrines can be in a room in any section of the castle.


After obtaining this item, a compass will appear at the top of the screen. If you follow the direction of the compass, you will find a hidden location in a room. Once you are in the correct spot in the room, the game will prompt you to press up. This will put you in a room that usually contains two chests. The chests will normally contain stat increses or blueprints.

Once you have entered the secret room, the compass will be destroyed.


This item will allow you to enter the castle without paying Charon any coins on your next run. It will always be used the next time you enter the castle - you can't decide when to use it.


When you get hit by an enemy while using this item, you will drop a portion of your coins onto the ground - similar to how Sonic loses his rings in the Sonic The Hedgehog games.

You will drop more coins than you lose when hit, so this item can be used to gain more coins.

This item is destroyed upon death.


This item will increase the chance that enemies will drop gold.

This item will allow you to walk on spikes on the floor without being damaged. This does not apply to spikes on the walls or ceilings and does not prevent spike traps from triggering, like the P.A.D. trait does.

This item will revive you once when you die. You will be revived with 25% HP and the item will be destroyed.


This item removes the Color Blindness, Nearsighted, Farsighted, Nostalgic and Vertigo traits. It also will make hidden items visible and allow you to see the correct chest in the gambling game where you have to pick from three chests.
