Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019 is the latest in a line of Trainz products that began in 2001.

Over the last 20 years (almost), the team at N3V Games have been working on improving every aspect of Trainz.

We've have been listening to our customers, and with TRS19 we're closer that every before to delivering the product you've been asking for.

In short, that means:

Have we reached perfection with this release? No, of course not, but we are getting closer! (Perhaps once you cannot tell the difference between simulator and reality we will have reached that goal).

With the improved game engine we're making everything look much more realistic - even the content that hasn't been updated to take advantage of the new "Physically-based rendering" techniques.

We are confident that TRS19 is our best ever Trainz release, and that we will continue to update and improve upon this release over time.

TRS19 includes a huge amount of content as "built-in" content.

The initial install includes the updated Kickstarter Country 2 route, plus a Content Sample map.

The additional 5 built-in routes are made available as free downloadable content using the in-game Asset Download system. This makes the initial download smaller, and allows users to select which routes to download and when.

TRS19 is a stand-alone version of Trainz and will be installed in a new directory separate from any other Trainz installs you may have from Steam or Trainzportal.com. It is available on Mac or PC.

Once installed, the first time you start TRS19, you are presented with the Performance Configurator[online.ts2009.com] which offers you a selection of preset performance settings.

We highly recommend that you follow these guidelines.

In short, the minimum specifications allow you to run the game with performance sliders reduced, while to run the game with all features enabled we recommend a GTX 980 or better.

To run the game with "everything maxed", you may still need to consider reducing the draw distance.

You will also not that your frame rate is capped at 30fps unless you adjust the "Vsync setting" in the Launcher. We recommend only changing to the Full option if you are gettnig a steady 60fps.

There are two main ways to access a huge variety of additional content for your TRS19 installation.

1. Trainz Download Station
The "DLS" contains almost 500,000 additional items you can download for free. There is a speed limit and a daily download limit for the free downloads, and we offer a "First Class Ticket" to remove these limits. This service costs under 10 cents a day, and ensures that we can continue to provide the service for all users.

2. DLC (Downloadable Content)
TRS19 offers a selection of OPTIONAL DLC items available for extra purchase.

The release version of TRS19 includes an enormous amount of content including 6 routes, over 100 locos, 500 freight and pasenger wagons and over 17000 items in total.

If you want to expand your collection by purchasing additional DLC items, then we're happy (as our our content partners who provide the additional content for your enjoyment).

If you do not want to purchase any additional items (which is the most common decision) then we're fine with that as well.

DLC Names
There is currently a bug in the listing of names for the DLC items. The item is listed by our internal "Resource ID" rather than the correct DLC product name. A listing appears at this wiki page.[online.ts2009.com]

Trainz A New Era DLC items
Existing "TANE" owners will be prompted to download and install their TANE builtin and DLC items when starting TRS19.
