1. download the zip file from http://amyoplasia.com/kmq2_coopordie.zip

2. Unzip the contents into your steam directory ... default is usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake 2" on a 64 bit system or "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Quake 2" on a 32 bit system.

3. (Only required for official coopordie multiplayer) Visit http://coopordie.com and register for a username and password. you will not need to download anything from the site as all files except the additional maps are included in the zip file.

4. Edit the coopordie.bat file in the quake2 parent folder to launch the kmquake2.exe engine. My coopordie.bat file reads "start kmquake2.exe +set wsrv_url www.coopordie.com/quake2/rpc +set game coopordie +map pregame +bind o wsrv_login {myusername} {mypassword}"

5. Send a shortcut to your desktop and launch the game using the bat file. Press the "o" key to login to the world server pregame map and your ready to have some coop fun :D

6. Pay attention to the muliplayer client compatibility as there is the kmquake 56 protocol and the original quake2.exe protocol.
kmquake.exe can run both but you must manually change this setting in join server menu.
**** PLEASE NOTE ALSO*** If you want to host games you will need to setup a port forward to your local ip address in your router.










P.S. if you just want to play quake2.exe in its original format just use steam to launch the game like normal. If you want to play single player with the kmquake2 engine just use the bat file but don't press the "o" key to log into the world server... press esc and start a single player game.

1) head on over to Quake 2 Gametracker[www.gametracker.com].

2) copy the servers listed and paste them in the address book under the join server multiplayer menu



3) make sure you set your protocol to the stock quake 34 for deathmatch games if your using the kmquake2.exe or coopordie.bat to launch kmquake2.exe




4) if your running the original quake2.exe through steam just add the address and off you go.

P.S. remember to enable the download options for all objects.
