What dumb@$$ logic lmaoooo

Even the best written games ever made like Mass Effect or Bioshock have DLC and external media in their storylines at different parts of the timeline you absolute dumbfuCOUGH

It's also not "NEEDED" to understand the story, its MORE STORY

No, lets not blame the publisher for forcing them to cut the story into DLCs or brand blitz the media market

If you have to make a guide like this, then the story is fucking HORRIBLY written. *cough cough* dark souls *cough cough*.

Spoilers ahead
Ravus is a totally different character with totally different motivations.
Not once Luna is called Oracle.
When Nix Ulric tries to use the ring kings let him choose a sacrifice. Luna is one of the options. As if they dont care about their main mission at all.
Movie intro makes it look like Tenebrae was invaded by empire recently, in fact it was annexed 400 years ago.
The main plot point of the movie is glaves not wanting their homes to be given to empire. In game this happened decades ago when Mars (Regis' father) reduced the wall to only cover Insomnia itself. Thats why Lucis is full of old looking cars and TVs, and they even use empire's gil and not Insomnia's yens (remember the reason why Noctis starts the game with empty pockets and basically nobody to everyone in Lucis).
Lucis continent is not a warzone as it is shown in the movie. At the start of the game all old forts are long abandoned.

There are many more major discrepancies.

No no no no. Do NOT watch Kingsglaive movie to better understand the story. It was made by a different team and I dont know what happened but looks like they werent completely in touch with game developers and were given only a basic outline of game's story or just decided to took many liberties on their own.
If you want a solid action CGI then its worth looking at, but it constantly contradicts the game and watching it before playing is a sure way to get confused.

Everything you need for the story is in the game itself and its DLCs. Brotherhood is a free extra and lines up with game's story well. All other outside materials either dont add anything significant, or contradict main game or clearly "what if" scenarios.

But really though? It was Sqaure's biggest and longest production game yet through all their success in the RPG genre... they need supplementary material outside of the game to understand the game's story line? I don't know seems like two steps backwards. when it released I played it on the PS4 and I was confused about the whole story. I saw more positive reviews now and bought it on PC... but now I'm regretting playing it again. However that maybe because I have a bias from my first initial play through. and I am seeing if they fixed the story line but... as far as I can see 8 hours in... not much changed. plus I never played the DLC so.. I guess I'm looking forward to that? So in short... I don't think any game should have ... supplementary material outside of the game to understand the story line or really any part of the game to understand it. It should be all in one package and at the end it should all make sense in the end.

I love how we actually need a guide to actually understand the game's damn story Lmao
I love Square but I feel like they do some really retarded things sometimes

I like the guide but... why is Brotherhood listed before starting Chapter 1? It takes place around Chapter 2 story wise - If I hadn't already played up to Chapter 2 then Episode 1 of Brotherhood would have given some big spoilers (for me at least). Chapter 2 onward it works of course.

I didn't know all these resources existed. They should have marketed the movie and anime more!
