Preface
Thank you for continue reading! First of all sorry for my bad English. Please correct me if you found any of my sentence confusing. There are few thing need to take note before move on further:

1. All the feedback listed is mainly for vehicle default performance
2. This guide will not discuss manually tuning or tweaking performance
3. The result is base on test driving in Time Trial mode with xbox controller
4 The performance result might not be same in Career mode
5. The listed feedback might not 100% apply same to every human being
6. Feedback comparison is listed to compare just among same vehicle class
7. Here is the "Assist Setting" if you want exactly same performance as listed

8. Some old information will be update, stay tuned.
9. Welcome any gamer to become a contributor for listing more Vehicle Recommendation.

Hope this guide to help you to get higher ranking in leaderboard. Happy racing!

DLC + Other Analysis from Contributor: Covfefe
H2 FWD:

Volkwagen Golf GTI 16V:
The fastest and the heaviest in the class, it is definitely faster than the other car
tends to be a little more difficult to handle. It tends to oversteer on liftoff and when the surface
gets bumpy it will kick the car around a lot resulting in oversteer. My tuning has not been able to
remedy this.

Peugeot 205 GTI:
This car is slower but lighter than the other. That, with the shorter and narrower wheelbase
and the great grip and handling of this car makes it a good choice for the tighter rallies.

H3 RWD:

Renault 5 Turbo:
Very fast and light, but the short wheelbase makes it very unstable.
Tightening up the diffs and stiffening the car up makes it much more manageable on tarmac
but it is still very hard to manage on gravel. Great for asphalt with a little tuning
but I would stick with the E30 M3 for this class for gravel.

R2:

Opel Adam:
Average all around. Doesn't feel as powerful as the Peugeot but more powerful than
the Ford and handles easier than the Peugeot but not as well as the Ford. Safe choice but
nothing special.

Peugeot 208:
Fastest car in the class with nice, even NA power delivery. Handles a little floaty and will
snap oversteer, especially over crests. Handling can be improved with some tuning to the springs
and dampers. With some tuning adjustments and a fully upgraded it is a killer in the class.
It sounds terrible and has a face to match though.

Ford Fiesta:
Technically the Slowest car in the class and is turbocharged, so power delivery is not linear.
If kept in the powerband after upgrades and with smart shifting and maybe a little gearbox
tuning it is pretty close to the other cars in the class. It handles great though, grip for days
and very predictable. Tends to understeer in tighter turns and stock suspension is pretty
stiff so some tuning may be helpful for courses like Argentina.

(DLC) F2 Kit Car:

Seat Ibiza Kit Car:
Both cars handle very well in their own ways, but the Seat is a little slower. The Seat
is more fast and loose, it is very quick to turn a corner, but a little unstable feeling.
Driving it almost feels like it's a little top heavy or wobbly. Some tuning may be able to help
this but I was mostly unsuccessful trying. This car works great on slower stages with tight
sections, but it would perform very poorly against the Peugeot in any place with lots of high
speed sections.

Peugeot 306 Maxi:
Both cars in this class handle very similarly, but the Peugeot is noticeably faster
and the power delivery is better and more linear as well, lending itself better to handling a
very powerful FWD car. Handling on tighter tracks tends to understeer, which can be completely
fixed with diff tuning. Brake hard right before the turn, turn in with no throttle, and roll
back on the power a little before the apex and this car will grip incredibly well everywhere.

(DLC) 2000cc and below:

01 Impreza:
Lacks high end power, somewhat remedied by engine upgrades and moving
gear ratios closer together. Understeers on tight gravel courses with stock tuning,
moving stock differential setting one tick looser on middle and front diff helps a lot and
makes it very competitive in this class.

01 Focus:
Fastest on the monte carlo stages but doesn’t do elsewhere driven by elite level NPCs. Yet to test myself.

Ford Focus:
One of the two highest power cars in the class, but not by a ton. The 07 Focus grips
very well on tarmac and it is a powerhouse in Germany or Spain. The power delivery for this car
is very linear as well, but the gearbox only having 5 speeds somewhat mitigates that. It has
fairly tall ratios but it has the powerband to compensate for that.

Rally GT:

Aston Vantage GT4:
Not the lightest or most powerful car in the class, but it is the perfect
balance of the two. It is very manageable on both tarmac and gravel with no tuning. It is
very stable and easy to drive compared to the others in the class.

BMW M2:
Not the most powerful but it is light and fairly easy to manage. It has a
comparatively short wheelbase for the class which makes it a solid choice for tight and
curvy tracks, but it may not be the best choice for tarmac (maybe except Monte Carlo) or
courses with more straightaways like Poland.

(DLC) Porsche 911 RGT:
They call old Porsches "windowmakers" for a reason. While pretty powerful
and handles well when you have it under control, it will violently and suddenly oversteer
upon acceleration and when lifting off the throttle especially. The rear engine weight balance
makes it drive like pendulum, and tuning doesn't help much. It is extremely difficult on
gravel and still quite difficult on tarmac. There are better options for both surfaces,
but the 911 is pretty good on both if you can keep it under control. A significant amount
of the global board, so it' great if you have to skill and perhaps a nice wheel to really
play in this car.

Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R:
Very powerful with explosive acceleration, but due it’s weight and long wheelbase, not to mention al that engine sitting up front, it understeers if you take it slow and easy, but oversteers if you try to muscle it through.

Step 1:
Knowing your regular global ranking. For example: I usually get about top 50% often in the global leaderboard.

Step 2:
Start any Time Trial stage and open leaderboard

Step 3:
Scroll down your regular global ranking (For me which is top 50% of the leaderboard)

Step 4:
Choose 3 players to download their personal best ghost car (recommend different car)

Step 5:
After seeing the ghost icon in front of the player name, that consider done. Have fun!

Launch Control, Stability Control and Traction Control, all slows you down and make it harder, if not impossible to make the car do what its supposed to do. The turbo lag in Group B does not make it impossible/pointless to drive. Turn off all driving assists to drive the way it's supposed to be driven. Comprehensive guide, but pointless if you drive without assists because the cars behaves very different WITH vs WITHOUT driving assists.

Driving with assists is a bad, and in many of your examples, the cars does not even have those assists IRL.

i have googled how to sync a new ps4 controller a few different options and did what they say. when i go into steam and then dirt 2.0 and controller settings it says i am using a ps4 controller but the one that is lit up is a xbox controller. my old ps4 controller works fine but it is 8 plus years old and it wont reverse and i don't get full throttle so i bought a new controller and when i try to sync it with the 2 buttons it flashes blue and within a min it flashes the orange and when i try to drive its reactions are slow and on a straitaway it will random turn me off the track.... how do i fix this please....
Unregistered HyperCam 2 7 Aug, 2023 @ 12:46am
I made a few top 100+ with no assist either BUT, i do play with ABS on 1 or 2 depending on the car, and especially if use mouse steering, otherwise custom setup and no assist is the way.

Stability and Traction at 5? *Spits at the Ground* You lose so much performance and car control using Assists. Whether its a Wheel, Controller, or Keyboard. Wonder why your car understeers so much? its most likely TC and SC, after I would try to tune it out. Anyways, 100% most WR and top 100 dont use assists. Just Turn them down a tad as you play or off all together and relearn how to drive with them off. Youre cars will come alive and youll most likely have more fun wrangling them around a stage. Good guide though aside from the ASSISTS.
