How To Grind XP Quickly (RENOVATED)
By Cosmo
(I have completely overhauled this guide, start to finish. It should be easier to read and follow now)

This guide aims to help new and old players alike achieve high ranks and high individual squad levels - through abusing console commands and bots

A few things to note:
  • I did not find these commands, credit goes to This guide.
  • I am open to criticism. If you spot an error, feel free to point it out to me in the comments.
  • This is my first proper guide, and as such will be slightly rough around the edges.
  • If you find yourself stuck at any point, go to the comments and tell me what the issue is, I'll try to help the best I can.

With all that out of the way, let me show you my form of quick XP grinding!

Edits:

The "Pregame"
To start, go to the "custom match" option in the menu, then set these in the parameters:
  • Set the passwords (or only admin passwords if you want anyone to be able to join),
  • Starting level: you can choose any map you wish, but I go with Argonne because it has a good grinding spot
  • Max players and Fill with bots until player count to full (64),
  • Bot difficulty to easy,
  • Year (doesn't change anything, just sets the uniforms),
  • Friendly fire and friendly fire penalty to off
  • Starting level is set to Argonne (easiest map I've found for this)
  • And the section Entente and section Central depends on which squad you're trying to level. If you want to level up an Entente squad, choose section central as "Alpenjäger", and if you are trying to level up a Central powers squad, choose either the "Highlanders" or the "Chasseurs Alpins". Doing this will mean you won't fall victim to bot artillery, or grenades

A possible setup, in favour of the Entente

And that's the Pregame. onto the next part!
The "Start"
Once you have loaded in, choose the squad you wish to grind, choose NCO (first member), open the chat with Y , and type the following commands:

  • /setbotdamage 0
  • /setbotshootrange 1
  • /setabilitycooldownmodifier 49
  • /settimelimit 99 (once the round has started, it will not work before)
  • /setfactionspawntimemodifier Central or Entente 0
  • /setbotaccuracy 10000
  • /setfillbots (Don't go too high as it causes lag on lower spec machines)

There are a few commands to remember during the match, as I will explain in the next section.
  • friendlyfire true/false: Enabling this grants you the ability to kill your teammates. While not entirely needed, it can be helpful for keeping "piles" together (more on this in a moment)
  • /capturecontested: instantly captures whichever trench is currently being attacked. Using this when defending means you can capture it again, giving you a standard 200 personal XP (plus 10 if you are playing as a rifles squad, and even more points if playing as the 2nd role (rifleman) and standing within the command order). this can be useful for getting massive personal XP, but will not give any squad XP.
  • /Switch attacker: forces the game to switch who is attacking, much like a normal game of Frontlines when the attack timer runs out. whoever was attacking is now defending and must retreat to their trench, and vice versa. It will play an important role in the Squad XP method, detailed further below
  • openmap true/false (on and off also work): disables the out of bounds areas, excluding the map edges. Turning this on means you'll be able to exit your trench and head towards the enemy's trench if you're defending. If the bots over extend while this is active, toggle off to have them return to the current objective

Again, credit to the original guide which outlines the commands
The "Grind" & Conclusion
So, the commands are set. What now?

The bots should start combining into piles, unable to kill each other. It is important to note that since both sides are locked to recon squads, no bots will have access to grenades. The simple method is to then kill them repeatedly, as the opposing side will respawn at an increased rate from the commands, and will funnel into the piles again, but this will result in sporadic point gain. This can be enhanced.

Depending on whether the faction you want to grind starts on attack or defence, you will have to do some adjusting before you can start grinding.

If you're attacking, let all your bots leave the trench and advance. Wait until they have all entered the enemy trench and start to clump together. At this point, type /Switchattacker and return to your trench. The bots will begin to move back to your trench and pile on the outskirts.

If you're defending, type /switchattacker and then follow the process detailed above

There will be multiple piles, but we want to make a singular, massive pile. To do this, choose one pile you with to make the main one. I've found the best place is the finger extending outwards into no mans land of Argonne, shown in the images below.
As NCO, place your Squad Order (Q + Left click, or M + Q + Left click on the map) in the middle of the pile. Changing class within the squad at this point may cause the bot NCO to move the order, but keep switching back and placing it in the correct loaction until they no longer move it. Once you've selected your pile, eliminate the others, starting with the furthest from the desired pile location. This is to avoid the bots in said piles going in the opposite direction, heading to one of the outer ones. After this is done, you should have one large, juicy pile ready and waiting.

Multiple piles stretched out across the trench

One large pile

Now, do /Openmap true/on and step out into no mans land whilst remaining inside the squad order. Kill one enemy from the pile. If the method was a success, you should see two green (squad) point indicators appear. They are:
  • Offensive kill +25: This occurs when performing the kill standing outside of the trench. the game calculates this as being in offensive territory, and awards you with a lot squad of points. It has a tendency to bug out, so do not expect it with every kill. If it does stop, try entering your trench, exiting and killing an enemy, or respawning.
  • Teamwork I, II or III (+5, 10 or 15)/Order followed +15: The first only applies to the NCO, while the latter applies only to the other three. For Teamwork, the amount of points gained is dependant on how many squad mates are closeby when you kill an enemy, each man resulting in +5 points. This can be tricky to do consistently so I prefer using Order followed, triggered by killing an enemy while inside the squad order, and always results in +15 squad points every time
Now continue to kill the bots, leaving at least one alive that is inside the cap zone. This will foothold the cap, meaning you don't have to worry about doing /switchattacker again, and your bots will target them, keeping the pile together. Keep in mind that bots may use grenades, so having the enemy squad be locked to the Recon squad type reduces the chance of your pile being ruined. Eventually one or two friendly bots may die, which can cause more piles to form from returning enemies you kill. You can remedy this by killing the friendly bots and lead the enemy bots to the pile. Repeat until your squad is at a satisfactory level. If you have the time and dedication, you can get every squad to level 100 relatively quickly.

I do hope this guide can help all of you on your way to prestige or max level squads.
Do remember I am open to suggestions, and don't be afraid to request assistance if you are having trouble. One final thanks to This guide on console commands for making this possible

You get the late war outfit for each squad, the abilities of the squad level up (which you can see in the squad menu) and the squad leader gets a stronger call-in. the two "main" abilities the whole squad gets also get upgraded, like in the last image staying in the NCO's aura grants unlimited sprint instead of a stamina drain reduction

Kinda late to the party but is there a benefit in ranking up the different squads?
Unless I'm missing something I see all the 3 loadout options for each one and the max rank is only uniform changes as far as I understand.
Thanks in advance if anyone wants to clear this up.

Yep,I see the problem. I forgot one of the crucial commands. Thought it was already there, but clearly it wasn't. That's my fault and I've fixed it. the command is /Setbotshootrange 1. Thank you for pointing that out Nacho

When I do this, the bots on both sides tend to get stuck at various points around no man's land, forming a few small piles but no where near the size that they should be. What am I doing wrong?
