The Dirty Scoundrel's Guide To Filching The Historian Achievement
By Blackthorne
Here's a little work-around I found for those Achievement Hunters out there that want to ensure The Historian triggers even if they miss one of the pages in the Terminator: Resistance world. Take note that this will likely get patched pretty quick, so jump in while you can.

As Always, The Spoiler Warning
The following guide will contain spoilers for the Terminator: Resistance game, and is geared towards players who have already made their way through the first couple of missions. Proceed at your preferred gaming experience.
WOT - No Images Or Vids?!?
Yep, text only here folks. I don't bother with in-game images and/or videos.

Don't like it? No skin off my nose. Make up your own guide.

Right - Without Further Ado...
I stumbled across this little thing quite by accident (okay, I'll confess - it was through being completely impatient... and it paid off!), and thought I'd share with you all before it gets fixed in an update further down the track.

So here goes...

  • Make your way through the game missions until you get to tracking down The Resistance at the "Hospitality" mission; if you've already passed this point - you're on your own. You may find a similar spot that you can use this approach in another mission, but this is likely the quickest, easiest and earliest opportunity to do so.
  • Work your way through the street level and hospital entrance at your own pace; fast and loud, slow and stealthy - it won't matter for this. I DO recommend hacking every turret that you come across to make your mission exit path a little easier, but that's completely up to you.
  • Once you've made your way into the hospital ruins, you'll find a spot where you're stealthing your way past T-800 Terminators. At this stage, your weapons will be completely useless/won't damage these guys.

Okay, sure - you CAN stun them for a brief moment with a shotgun if you're walking around with Mr Remington and MAYBE run right through the area, but quite frankly all that's going to do is tick them off, and could make things worse for your achievement hunting than if you took the Solid Snake approach.
  • In this area, you'll find a series of locked doors. Open these up (You ***DID*** take Lockpicking at least at the base level by now, didn't you...?) where necessary close the door/use the room for cover if you're one of the patrolling T-8's are heading towards you.
  • In one of these locked rooms, you'll find an excerpt from Doctor Silberman's report on Sarah Connor's mental state. Pick this up, head out the door...

And get yourself killed by the nearest T-800.

Th-Th-That's right folks. Walk up and give it a big grin, shoot it in the face, do jumping jacks in a corridor as the Termy's heading towards you... get yourself deaded, and reload at the last checkpoint.

    So what now?
  • RINSE AND REPEAT UNTIL THE ACHIEVEMENT TRIGGERS.

Yep, that's right - the collection trigger doesn't reset when your character dies in this game, and given that the pickup point for the Dr Silberman report is a minute's gaming away from the checkpoint... it's an easy nab!
  • Once you've triggered the achievement, you can carry on with your regular gaming style. Make sure to open up those locked doors and grab all the scattered trade goods and medkits before heading off, and then rock on through the mission.
That's All Folks
I honestly don't know how easy it is to find - or miss - the pages scattered around the game's zones, which is why I thought I'd share this little trick. Have come across a few in rather obscure places, and I know there folks out there that would prefer to NOT have to do another playthrough just to hunt down that last wayward note, so I hope this helps speed things up for people out there.

I'm not likely to do any updates to this micro-guide (except to flag it as outdated if/when the patch rolls in), but if there's any constructive content that folks would like to add, you're more than welcome to leave details in the comments section.

Happy hunting!

Not sure if it's still viable, mind; it's been a goodly while since I've written this up, so not sure if they've patched the game to the point where this little workaround has been fixed...

There's another option. Try to get 20 to 30 Pipebombs and you've got a chance to turn the T-800s into junk. And don't forget hacking all of the plasma turrets.
