Introduction
My goal was to make this guide as comprehensive as I could; taking information from the in-game files, the Carmageddon Wiki[carmageddon.fandom.com], and the tips book bundled with the October 1997 issue of PC Zone (yes, I still have a copy of this). I've tried to go into specific or esoteric details, where they exist, for the different vehicles including regional variations, bugs, glitches, and interesting quirks.

I have, effectively, finished this guide - for the time being at least, but will be checking through everything for consistency and providing updates based on comments or any additional findings that I come across. I am also planning on providing supplementary "artwork" to this guide which will basically be a series of graphs showing how vehicles compare against each other. After all, this guide is around the sixty page mark and I want something a little more 'tl;dr' as a quick reference guide.

For each competitor, I will be providing the following information:

Vehicle: The name of the vehicle.

Top Speed: The vehicle's maximum speed, in mph, across flat ground. For stealworthy vehicles, this applies to a level one engine.

0-60 In: The amount of time, in seconds, that it takes to reach 60 mph from a standing start. For stealworthy vehicles, this applies to a level one engine.

Kerb Weight: The vehicle's weight in tons. In practice, this figure is used as a basis for damage calculations; more weight = more damage at the same speed. It also affects a vehicle's ability to push other vehicles around.

Race Number: The race number displayed on the vehicle. Not all vehicles have race numbers and this is purely aesthetic.

Opponent Tier: Opponents are broken down into three tiers to signify when they will appear in the season. This prevents difficult opponents from appearing before suitable upgrades or vehicles have been acquired to deal with them.

Strength (1-5): Opponents are broken down into five ranks to represent how easily they take damage and how much damage they can take before being wasted. This doesn't mean that all vehicles with a strength rating of one are the same and the calculations are more complicated than these figures would indicate. For example, there are three buggies in the original Carmageddon with a strength value of three, but they are as weak as several opponents with a rating of one - I believe that their strength has been over-inflated to compensate for their significantly lower weight to prevent them from exploding under their own weight.

Stealworthy?: Some vehicles can be unlocked throughout the course of the season, but only once a rank threshold has been achieved. There is a chance that these vehicles can added to the garage when wasted, although, this is not guaranteed. However, the Cops Special Forces' Suppressor is guaranteed to be stolen when wasted, although, this does not appear as a standard opponent.

Featured In: Which games the vehicle is featured in - Carmageddon, the Splat Pack, or both. Some opponents appear in both games but with different vehicles.

Description: The in-game flavour text that accompanies the competitors' mugshots on the View Racers section of the race menu.

Advice: I've tried to go into detail regarding the personality of the driver(s) and the features of their vehicles, how they stack up against similar vehicles, how to handle wasting 'em, and any weak spots that may exist. I've also used this section to look at regional variations, bugs, glitches, and interesting quirks that the vehicles may have. For stealworthy vehicles, I've tried to go into detail regarding when they can be obtained, how they handle, and (ultimately) if they are worth using.

I've listed the competitors in a rather specific order: I've started with Max Damage and Die Anna, being the two competitors that you will see first and use for the entirety of both Carmageddon and the Splat Pack. Secondly, I have written about the police force - both The Cops and The Cops Special Forces - neither of these are typical competitors and can appear in races in varying amounts. Thirdly, I have listed each computer controlled competitor in alphabetical order (Auto Scum are listed alphabetically by vehicle).
Max Damage: Red Eagle / Eagle II
Vehicle:
Red Eagle
Top Speed:
200 mph
0-60 In:
4.01 seconds
Kerb Weight:
1.1 tons
Race Number:
Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Vehicle:
Eagle II
Top Speed:
200 mph
0-60 In:
4.01 seconds
Kerb Weight:
1.1 tons
Race Number:
Featured In:
Splat Pack only

Description: "Mad maximum impact fruitcake with a hydraulic neck and no crumple zones in his brain. Drives the Eagle, a car designed for rammin’ and slammin’."

Advice: The Red Eagle and Eagle II are statistically identical and any differences are purely cosmetic. Of the two starter cars on offer, I prefer the Eagle over the Hawk - the weight advantage allows you to deal out more damage per hit and is a viable option for pretty much everything the game can throw at you, with sufficient upgrades.
Die Anna: Yellow Hawk / Hawk II
Vehicle:
Yellow Hawk
Top Speed:
250 mph
0-60 In:
3.15 seconds
Kerb Weight:
0.8 tons
Race Number:
Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Vehicle:
Hawk II
Top Speed:
250 mph
0-60 In:
3.15 seconds
Kerb Weight:
0.8 tons
Race Number:
Featured In:
Splat Pack only

Description: "Psychopathic stunner. Born in a body bag and raised in a morgue. Drives the Hawk - faster than Max’s Eagle but not as strong. Best suited to impacts with flesh rather than steel."

Advice: The Yellow Hawk and Hawk II are statistically identical and any differences are purely cosmetic. Of the two starter cars on offer, I rarely choose to use the Hawk - the lack of kerb weight quickly becomes a problem as tier two and three opponents appear in races. The Hawk has a definite speed advantage over the Eagle, but this is rarely the way I find my races going - especially on normal or hard difficulties.
The Cops: Squad Car
Vehicle:
Squad Car
Top Speed:

Carmageddon & Splat Pack

Hear sirens and you're in trouble! Squad cars appear on most tracks in increasing numbers as the season wears on and The Cops are among the most aggressive drivers in Carmageddon or the Splat Pack. They will attack with relentless ferocity - occasionally in teams of two or more cars; in Carmageddon's "Blood on the Rooftops", it is not unreasonable to see up to four Squad Cars and the Suppressor on the same stretch of road.

The Squad Car only boasts an average top speed but its acceleration and weight more than make up for this. With the exception of the Suppressor, the Squad Car is by far the toughest car to waste in the game. They sport incredibly tough armour that the majority of other vehicles just can't compete against - it is difficult to tell how damaged a Squad Car is because, for some reason, it is the only vehicle model that doesn't deform when it takes damage.

The Cops' favourite tactic is to shunt you along at high speed, usually straight into a wall or an obstacle, for massive damage. The only option you have is to rely on long, fast, head-on collisions - don't try to push them around, you'll lose. Damaging the engine is all you can do and it's going to take a long time to whittle the armour down.

Don't even think about taking on the cops unless you're in the Caddy Fat Cat, Towmeister, The Plow, or Rig O'Mortis (some heavyweight CHEAT cars, such as the King Merc, would also work) and you'll need level 4 or 5 upgrades to armour, power, and offence. Be aggressive, persevere, and line up your shots and you'll eventually manage to waste a Squad Car.

Try hitting a cop whilst in Pinball Mode for a laugh...
The Cops Special Forces: Suppressor
Vehicle:
Suppressor
Top Speed:
250 mph
0-60 In:

Kerb Weight:
5.0 tons
Race Number:
501
Strength (1-5):

Stealworthy?:
Yes, below rank 9
Featured In:
Carmageddon & Splat Pack

You'll only meet them on one track in both Carmageddon and the Splat Pack. The Special Forces are ruthless, relentless, and aggressive - wasting 'em is harder than any of the other competitors.

The Suppressor is the ultimate killing machine - huge, fast, and practically indestructible. At 5.0 tons, it is heavier than anything in Carmageddon and tied with the Rig O'Mortis for heaviest in the Splat Pack. A top speed of 250mph ties the Suppressor with the Yellow Hawk for fifth fastest in Carmageddon (behind the Annihilator, Tashita Coupé, Countslash, and Fearari F666).

You'll need an incredibly heavy and strong vehicle to stand a chance against them; in Carmageddon, the Caddy Fat Cat or Towmeister should be considered a minimum but The Plow would be the preferred option, in the Splat Pack, the same three vehicles can be considered with the addition of the Rig O'Mortis and, potentially, the Monster Masher. Level five upgrades to armour, offence, and power are absolutely essential to even make a dent in the Suppressor's armour.

In Carmageddon, the Special Forces can only be found in race 33, Blood on the Rooftops, on the roof of a building by checkpoint four. Following the road signs into the building and onto the roof, wrestle your way directly behind the huge APC and shunt it off of the building - stay in contact with the back end all of the way down and you should piledrive it into the asphalt with incredible force which will cause massive damage. Hopefully, the drop will cause the Suppressor to roll on its side or roof - carefully push it against a wall and line up impacts with the sides, as fast as you are able to. You want to keep the Special Forces from attacking you as much as possible as you will not out muscle it under any circumstances.
Agent Orange: Leadpumper
Vehicle:
Leadpumper
Top Speed:
150 mph
0-60 In:
7.6 seconds
Kerb Weight:
1.7 tons
Race Number:
12
Opponent Tier:
2
Strength (1-5):
4
Stealworthy?:
No
Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Description: "The mad ex-FBI agent will hunt you down with extreme prejudice if you dare to hit his heavyweight sedan."

Advice: Agent Orange is a highly aggressive driver and reacts similarly to Otis P. Jivefunk - scratch his paintwork and he'll get mad and stop at nothing to trash you.

Sinthea's flavour text mentions that she was in a relationship with Agent Orange and that he died between the events of Carmageddon and the Splat Pack - this makes him the only driver mentioned to have died in the canon of the story.

The Leadpumper is a black sedan with an exposed fan. It looks great, is heavy, and hits hard. The sedan is low and wide which allows Agent Orange to easily attack you and can push most vehicles around with ease. The top speed and acceleration leave something to be desired but Agent Orange is always on the attack and isn't trying to win a race by completing laps.

The exposed fan highlights the Leadpumper's weak spot - repeated head-on collisions can trash the ex-FBI agent's vehicle, but it's well armoured and will take a tough car to make much of a dent.
Alfonso Spaghetti: Stiletto
Vehicle:
Stiletto
Top Speed:
170 mph
0-60 In:
5.5 seconds
Kerb Weight:
1.3 tons
Race Number:
71
Opponent Tier:
1
Strength (1-5):
2
Stealworthy?:
No
Featured In:
Splat Pack only

Description: "Super slippery race ace Alfonso likes to look good, and his likes his car to look good too. Scratch that bright yellow paint at your peril!"

Advice: Alfonso is the king of the race circuit and will trash anyone who says otherwise. He's very aggressive, especially when compared to other tier one drivers, but shouldn't cause too many issues.

Alfonso Spaghetti and his car, the Stiletto, appear to be analogous to Val Hella and her Cleaver - they share the same driving style, the same acceleration, the same strength, the same kerb weight... The only real difference between the Stiletto and the Cleaver, other than the appearance, is that the Stiletto is has a significantly lower top speed - dropping 50 mph.

The Stiletto is a low-slung, modified Alfa Romeo and features bumper mounted blades which are ideal for mowing down pedestrians. It's not as fast as the Cleaver but is equally nimble and perhaps heavier than it deserves to be.

Unfortunately for Alfonso, the Stiletto only has a strength rating of two, meaning that you won't have any issues in smashing it up. He's particularly weak to head-on collisions, regardless of the bladed bumper, but you should probably avoid attempting to shunt him into a wall, until you have some upgrades.
Auto Scum: Razorbill
Vehicle:
Razorbill
Top Speed:
210 mph
0-60 In:
4.5 seconds
Kerb Weight:
0.6 tons
Race Number:

Opponent Tier:

Strength (1-5):
3
Stealworthy?:
No
Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Description: "Road-going gang of psychos, muggers & murderers who drive a variety of armored off-roaders."

Advice: The Auto Scum gang is different from all other Carmageddon competitors - typically, each opponent has their own car, but this gang of four divide themselves between three vehicles, including two tag-team buggies. Only one Auto Scum vehicle can appear as an opponent in a single race. All of the drivers act in the same way - they aren't too aggressive and will tear around the circuit, looking for an opportunity to attack.

Razorbill is Auto Scum's smallest vehicle - and the only one-seater, at that - however, all three of them are very similar. At a mere 0.6 tons, it is tied with another Auto Scum vehicle, Road Bratt, for second lightest vehicle in Carmageddon - after Mech Maniac's Grunge Buster. Razorbill is slightly slower and has worse acceleration than Road Bratt, despite having the same kerb weight and no passenger. However, Razorbill has a higher strength rating than Road Bratt, so it can be assumed that increased armour is the reason for the reduced speed.

Razorbill is small, has a low centre of gravity, and is fast - meaning that it can be fairly awkward to hit directly. However, the extremely low weight means the gang member is unable to fight back effectively should contact be made - allowing you piledrive him into a wall.

Only one Auto Scum vehicle can appear as an opponent in a single race. All of the drivers act in the same way - they aren't too aggressive and will tear around the circuit, looking for an opportunity to attack.

Road Bratt is one of Auto Scum's two-seaters and is quite different from the other, Street Eater, it has a higher top speed and better acceleration at a cost of lower weight and a lower strength rating. At a mere 0.6 tons, it is tied with the third Auto Scum vehicle, Razorbill, for second lightest vehicle in Carmageddon - after Mech Maniac's Grunge Buster. Road Bratt is slightly faster and has better acceleration than Razorbill, despite having the same kerb weight and a passenger. Road Bratt also has a lower strength rating, so it can be assumed that reduced armour is the reason for the increased speed.

On paper, Road Bratt is the weakest of the three Auto Scum vehicles but, in practice, there is little difference between the three, thanks to the kerb weight being significantly less than any available player vehicle... except Mech Maniac's Grunge Buster. The size and speed of Road Bratt makes it somewhat difficult to score a direct hit. However, its low weight and low strength make it easy to waste by simply shunting it into a wall at speed.

Only one Auto Scum vehicle can appear as an opponent in a single race. All of the drivers act in the same way - they aren't too aggressive and will tear around the circuit, looking for an opportunity to attack.

Street Eater is one of Auto Scum's two-seaters and is quite different from the other, Road Bratt. It is much slower than Road Bratt and is actually Auto Scum's slowest vehicle. However, at 0.9 tons, it is 50% heavier than the other two Auto Scum vehicles and actually weighs as much as the significantly larger (and, well, better) Tashita Coupe. Street Eater has a strength rating of three, which is the same as Razorbill, and, when coupled with the kerb weight, can be considered the muscle of the Auto Scum gang.

However, in practice, Street Eater is a slower - and therefore, easier to hit - version of Road Bratt. The additional weight means very little when there are only two other available vehicles that aren't heavier than Street Eater (Grunge Buster and Tashita Coupe). The size of Street Eater can make it harder to hit that most of the other vehicles available, but it is still simple to shunt it into a wall.
Big Daddy: Ramraider
Vehicle:

Kerb Weight:

Splat Pack only

Description: "The big man with the face paint is keen to introduce you to his pet ram. It's attached to a big stick and heading for ya at speed now!"

Advice: Big Daddy is big, fat, and piѕѕed off. He drives extremely aggressively and will pick on you for the entire race and will almost never attempt to retreat after taking heavy damage.

The Ramraider is a green Jeep with bonnet mounted battering ram adorned with a ram's head. It's big, heavy, and has armour that is stronger than average. The acceleration is fairly poor and the top speed of 100 mph is abysmal - in fact, the Ramraider is tied for the slowest vehicle in the Splat Pack (tied with Don Dumpster's The Plow, Sawbones' Blood Mobile, Mike O'Kane's Killer Coop, and Moonchild's Piecemaker).

Big D can push most vehicles around with relative ease and will often try to piledrive them straight into a wall with his giant battering ram. The Ramraider is rather boxy and it's not uncommon to see him stuck on his side. Shrewd drivers should use this to their advantage and try to waste him as quickly as possible.

The Ramraider is weak to side-on collisions and attacks should be focused to this area. Obviously, it is advised to avoid the front as much as possible to avoid taking heavy damage. The Ramraider is well armoured and is able to absorb quite a lot of punishment. As such, you'll need quite a tough car to waste Big Daddy.
Brothers Grimm: Stiffshifter
Vehicle:
Stiffshifter
Top Speed:
230 mph
0-60 In:
4.2 seconds
Kerb Weight:
1.2 tons
Race Number:

Strength (1-5):
2
Stealworthy?:
No
Featured In:
Carmageddon & Splat Pack

Description: "The funeral funsters will deliver you straight to hell in style with their nitrous snorting hot-rod hearse."

Advice: The Grimms are aggressive and will chase you around the track, not giving a thought for their resident corpse. Taking damage doesn't seem to deter them and won't stop attacking if you fight back.

The Stiffshifter is an extremely fast hearse with an equally impressive rate of acceleration. At 1.2 tons, the hearse's weight is above either of the two starter cars and ranks fifth heaviest out of the sixteen vehicles in tier 1 (behind OK Stimpson's Fraud Broko, Screwie Lewie's Twister, Ivan the Bastard's Bear, and Val Hella's Cleaver). The Stiffshifter also has good grip on corners and can out maneuver many of the other vehicles.

The Grimms' hearse has light armour and is weak to head-on collisions - hit it hard enough and parts will crumple. Smash into it at the right place and it's possible to set fire to their coffin!
Burly Shirley: Pink Pulveriser
Vehicle:
Pink Pulveriser
Top Speed:

Kerb Weight:
2.0 tons
Race Number:

Strength (1-5):
5
Stealworthy?:
No
Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Description: "Halfwit Harry’s sister is as devoted to Squealer the pet pig as he is (and has the same single figure IQ)."

Advice: Halfwit Harry's equally dense sister drives in much the same manner as Harry - you'll often see her car careering towards you at high speeds, with little to no regard for her own safety. Shirley and her brother will routinely chase you for an entire race and almost never attempt to retreat after taking heavy damage.

The Pink Pulveriser is a large, armoured Humvee featuring an oversized bullbar and spiked front bumper. It is almost identical to the Lumberer, although, the Pink Pulveriser is slightly heavier (with slightly worse acceleration to match). Shirley and her brother's vehicles both have a low centre of gravity and a wide footprint which makes it fairly difficult to get underneath to flip it over.

Due to the heavy armour and bullbar, head-on collisions are not advised. Instead, heavy impacts to the sides at speed will cause maximum damage. The heavy armour can take a lot of damage before Lumberer is wasted so some perseverance will be required.
Carkey & Clutch: Stodge Barger
Vehicle:
Stodge Barger
Top Speed:

1.7 tons
Race Number:

Stealworthy?:
Yes, from rank 55
Featured In:
Splat Pack only

Description: "This dynamic duo look like they're trapped in a timewarp. Flares, afros and a muscle car... it's the 'In-a-state '76' pair!"

Advice: Carkey & Clutch are a dangerous pair of drivers with a balanced driving style; they are as likely to attack as they are to drive around the circuit. However, when the do attack, they are particularly viscous. The duo are clearly based on Taurus and Groove Champion from Interstate '76 - this is hinted to in their flavour text and the fact that, in the Splat Pack demo, their original names were Tortoise & Chump.

The Stodge Barger, despite its name, is a blue 1967 Chevrolet Camaro and not a Dodge Charger. It sports cow horns on the front bumper and the racing stripes from a Chevrolet Chevelle. In terms of performance, it is far above average for a vehicle based on a real world car; the top speed, acceleration, and kerb weight are better than average but the strength rating of 5 make the Stodge Barger and absolute tank when it comes to taking damage.

Unfortunately for Carkey & Clutch, the handling seems to be considerably more awkward than other vehicles with real world counterparts and you'll often see the duo spinning out of control. It is advised to use this to your advantage and shunt them into a wall as they are attempting to regain control.

The Stodge Barger sports incredibly tough armour and is probably the most difficult vehicle to waste that is based on an actual car. Is is weak to head-on collisions but you're going to need something significantly larger, or more industrial, to make much of an impact on it. It is also stealworthy and can be unlocked at rank 55, or below. However, it is somewhat awkward to use efficiently - there is strong understeer when turning in second gear or above but it also easily spins out of control at low speed or on surfaces other than asphalt which, together, is contradictory for a front engine - rear wheel drive vehicle. It does, however, pack one hell of a wallop and can easily waste many of the vehicles in game. Personally, I do not find it as useful as the Caddy Fat Cat as, although tougher, it is harder to control.
Don Dumpster: The Plow
Vehicle:
The Plow
Top Speed:
100 mph
0-60 In:
14.8 seconds
Kerb Weight:

Race Number:

Stealworthy?:
Yes, below rank 21
Featured In:
Carmageddon & Splat Pack

Description: "Big truck, big guy...no heart. Don’s a disgruntled municipal worker and he drives a customized earthmover; hard, fast & heavy."

Advice: Don is big, fat, and piѕѕed off. He drives extremely aggressively and will pick on you for the entire race. It is strongly recommended to stay well away from him until you have a vehicle that is capable of taking him on.

The Plow is an industrial earthmover with a giant, graffitied scoop which is the second heaviest vehicle in the original Carmageddon (after Heinz Faust's King Merc). In the Splat Pack, The Plow is reduced to fourth heaviest (behind Mother Trucker's Rig O'Mortis, Helga Shwein's Roadhog, and Herman Monster's Monster Masher) - however, The Plow inexplicably increases in size by a considerable amount between games, where it actually has the largest footprint of any vehicle in either Carmageddon or the Splat Pack (the weight doesn't appear to change, however).

Because The Plow has vertical, flat sides it can easily be toppled onto its side - if you can get under it, at least. Sloped surfaces are definitely the best method for incapacitating Don Dumpster as he can easily roll over if attempting to turn on a slope. It's very slow, the slowest vehicle in Carmageddon, in fact - but Don isn't going to try and win races by completing laps.

The Plow is very difficult to waste in game and, due to its weight, it is not easy to push around (unless you're driving the Suppressor). Avoid the scoop on the front, you aren't going to do any damage by crashing into it, instead, rely on fast, hard collisions with the side, or preferably, the white cab when he's stuck on his side. You're going to need a tough vehicle to make a dent in Don's armour - the Eagle is going to need level four upgrades as a minimum, but you'd be better off using the Caddy Fat Cat or, preferably, the Towmeister.

The Plow can be stolen from rank 21 and is the last standard competitor vehicle that becomes available. It's very easy to waste the vast majority of other vehicles with it but you will find yourself recovering more often as The Plow will tip over often. In Carmageddon, it is also important to remove all engine upgrades as well, as these will cause The Plow to pull a wheelie from a standing start which often can lead to The Plow tipping over. It is worth noting that this wheelie issue was fixed for the Splat Pack. I don't find The Plow as useful as the Towmeister for the majority of late game situations - however, you're going to have an easier time wasting the Suppressor with it.

Carmageddon & Splat Pack

Description: "Ed blew a fuse and went psycho. The crazed android stole a prototype prized racing coupe in order to cause high-speed carnage."

Advice: Ed 101 is a psychotic driver who will try and single you or another driver out at the start of a race and attack until only one driver is left - fortunately for you, Ed is usually the first to get wasted.

The Tashita Coupe is the second fastest vehicle in Carmageddon and the Splat Pack, although, this accolade is tied with Kutter's Countslash in the original Carmageddon. It falls short of the Countslash in terms of acceleration and kerb weight but, despite this, feels more robust on the streets.

Of all the vehicles with a strength rating of 1 the Tashita Coupe is probably the hardest to waste - narrowly edging out Madam Scarlett's Fearari F666 - but it's still not a particularly difficult task, especially when offensive upgrades are purchased. Head-on collisions will quickly eliminate Ed 101 from races and his low kerb weight means that he can easily be pushed around by practically everyone.

The Tashita Coupe is stealworthy from rank 89, which would allow you to potentially steal it as early as the third race of the season. It is faster and lighter than both the Red Eagle and Yellow Hawk whilst having a comparable acceleration - providing pacifistic players with a solid option for the entire game.

Description: "Survivalist Ed wants to rid the world of Commies. But to him, everyone’s a pinko. His armoured station wagon’s a moving roadblock."

Advice: Ed Hunter seeks out commies with extreme prejudice and won't hesitate to waste anyone that stands in his way - He's out to get everyone, including you. Ed will attack anyone and everyone around him, without hesitation, and refuses to flee when taking damage.

The Hevy Impaler looks like an unassuming station wagon but, in reality, is big, strong, reasonably fast, and sports incredibly tough armour. In the original Carmageddon, it is by far the heaviest vehicle in tier 2 and even outweighs most of tier - sitting behind Heinz Faust's King Merc and Don Dumpster's The Plow as third heaviest vehicle. In addition to being the heaviest in its tier, it is tied for third fastest but comes rock bottom in terms of acceleration and is, basically, a quicker and heavier version of Agent Orange's Leadpumper and should be handled in much the same way.

Normal battering won't get you anywhere as the Hevy Impaler's armour is far too strong - colliding head-on repeatedly will make an impression but the sides seem to be weaker and are easier to line up when travelling at high speed. It is advisable to use the Hevy Impala's poor acceleration against it - run rings around Ed until you can line up your coup de grâce.

Description: "Crazed chem. worker Firestorm stole a company tanker and took to racing. The rig is big and the driver is brutal."

Advice: Firestorm acts aggressively but doesn't really have the vehicle to back up his attacks. He will attack with reckless abandon but this is usually his undoing as he routinely incapacitates himself with rather little effort.

The Tanka isn't as big as the description would have you believe - which was clearly written before the game was completed. Originally, an additional, articulated trailer was featured as part of the design but limitations with the game engine prevented this from happening.

The removal of the trailer makes the Tanka look much smaller than it should and feel very strange in game; the front section is left intact with the cab and some form of intake cantilevering forward of the front axle by around half the total length of the vehicle. The Tanka also has an incredibly short wheelbase (barely long enough to prevent the wheels from rubbing together), when this is coupled with the cab position, you are left with a very front-heavy vehicle that wildly tips forward and backward whilst accelerating or decelerating.

On paper the Tanka is a something of a scaled down version of Don Dumpster's Plow; same top speed with a trade in reduced weight for improved acceleration and slightly less strength. Fortunately, the Tanka is considerably easier to push around, thanks to how unstable it is, and can be incapacitated easily because to its wheelbase. The Tanka is weak to head-on collisions, although, you're going to need to be going at a decent speed to damage his armour.

Description: "Harry will try to win at any cost, so he can lavish the winnings on his pet pig, Squealer. Best stay out of his way if you can."

Advice: Harry is as thick as his pet pig, Squealer's, er, "waste products". You'll often see him driving straight at you, not caring a jot for his own safety, or yours. Harry and his sister will routinely chase you for an entire race and almost never attempt to retreat after taking heavy damage.

The Lumberer is a large, armoured Humvee featuring an oversized bullbar and spiked front bumper. It is almost identical to Pink Pulveriser, although, Lumberer is slightly lighter (with slightly better acceleration to match). Harry and his sister's vehicles both have a low centre of gravity and a wide footprint which makes it fairly difficult to get underneath to flip it over.

Due to the heavy armour and bullbar, head-on collisions are not advised. Instead, heavy impacts to the sides at speed will cause maximum damage. The heavy armour can take a lot of damage before Lumberer is wasted so some perseverance will be required.

Description: "Hammy thinks he’s a superhero, but actually he’s just another nut. He drives his own twisted creation with demented zeal."

Advice: Hammerhead is one of the most dangerous drivers in Carmageddon; he knows how fast and tough his vehicle is and won't hesitate to slam you into a wall at high speed.

Project X is Hammerhead's own creation - it's very fast and very heavy with some of the toughest armour seen in Carmageddon. Fortunately, it sports an awkward shape that give it poor cornering and an incredibly low ground clearance that routinely causes the bodywork to catch obstacles that it drives over.

Project X is probably the most unique vehicle in Carmageddon; sporting a low-slung Y shaped chassis with two spiked fenders to the front and a wide, studded roller in lieu of rear wheels. The lack of rear wheels prevents the back end from being incapacitated too easily as there is a much wider area to gain traction on the terrain - however, this doesn't overcome the other handling issues that Project X is plagued with.

Hammerhead is tricky to waste, as he is often maneuvering to get into the best position to attack and by the time you've turned around to face him, he's elsewhere. There isn't really a perfect position to attack him from either as he's protected from spiked fenders to the front and the engine bay is protected by the studded roller to the rear. Repeated impacts at high speed to the sides will slowly whittle down Hammerhead's armour but a tough vehicle is going to be required as the Eagle will definitely struggle to deal heavy damage.

Description: "Teutonic terror Heinz has a supercharged superheavy sport coupe with go anywhere tank tracks... Don’t get caught in his path!"

Advice: Big, mad, and German - and quite willing to drive over your head to get where he's going. Heinz Faust is a highly dangerous and aggressive driver that will routinely chase you for an entire race.

King Merc is the heaviest of all of the competitor's vehicles in Carmageddon (and second heaviest overall, after the Suppressor APC) and is also probably the most difficult to waste. King Merc is a German sports coupe on tank tracks with a huge amount of horsepower and traction that allows Heinz to push anyone around like they were nothing - even Don Dumpster and The Plow will struggle, thanks to Heinz's 400kg weight advantage.

Fortunately, King Merc has an obvious weak spot - the coupe is front engined. Repeated high-speed, head-on collisions in a large, strong, fast car will work - but it going to take a significant amount of effort - and don't even attempt to push King Merc against a wall as Heinz can easily out-muscle anything (with the exception of Suppressor). Occasionally, Heinz manages to tip onto his side, thanks to a raised centre of gravity - this will allow you to easily line up your collisions.

Description: "Distant cousin of Halfwit Harry and Burly Shirley, Helga has a pet Warthog - the love of her life."

Advice: Helga Shwein hails from the same family as Halfwit Harry and Burly Shirley from the original Carmageddon and it shows. Her driving style is very similar to that of her cousins; you'll often find her screaming towards you at top speed, with little regard for her own safety. Helga is a dangerous opponent who will chase you for an entire race and will not retreat after taking heavy damage.

The Warthog is a large, armoured off-roader featuring a tusked front bumper. It is fairly similar to the Lumberer and Pink Pulveriser from the original Carmageddon but the Warthog is a ton heavier and has a far faster rate of acceleration. However, the Helga's vehicle suffers from a considerably lower top speed than those of her cousins. The Warthog has large rear tyres and a low centre of gravity which makes it fairly difficult to get underneath to flip it over.

The heavy armour and tusked bumper make head-on collisions ill-advised. However, the exposed engine block provides a perfect weak spot and heavy impacts should be directly at the sides to cause maximum damage. The Warthog is one of the toughest vehicles in the Splat Pack so some perseverance will be required.

Description: "Herman likes to have a good view of the road ahead, and hates getting caught in a traffic jam. Lucky for him he drives the Masher!"

Advice: Herman Monster is an aggressive driver who prefers to attack other drivers instead of racing. You'll regularly see him flying through the air or climbing up obstacles as he attempts to retreat after taking heavy damage.

The Monster Masher is giant, stereotypical monster truck. The wheels alone tower over every other vehicle in the Splat Pack - even the others on oversized tyres (such as Screwie Lewie's Twister). The top speed and acceleration of the Monster Masher are only average, at best, but it is considerably heavier than average. At 2.9 tons, it is the third heaviest vehicle in the Splat Pack (behind Mother Trucker's Rig O'Mortis and Helga Shwein's Warthog), if you discount the Suppressor.

Herman's truck is somewhat frustrating to waste in game and, due to its weight, it is not easy to push around. It has a habit jumping over you when you collide with it and, thanks to the monster truck tyres, its weak spot it well out of your reach. With any luck, it'll tip on to its side (or rarely, its roof) after going airborne - use this as an opportunity to collide with the front at high speed. The Monster Masher only has average armour so wasting it, when in the correct position, isn't too difficult

The Monster Masher can be stolen from rank 55, or below. However, it does not perform as well as many of the other mid-game vehicles due to the frequency of it tipping over as you try to waste other drivers. These incapacitations quickly become irritating and chip away at your earnings.

Description: "With a Ukraine-manufactured monster truck and vodka-manufactured hangover, Ivan's black mood makes him a dangerous competitor."

Advice: Ivan's hangover has seemingly put him in a bad mood as he's one of the most aggressive drivers that you'll come across in the early stages of the season. He'll attack without hesitation and has a habit of following you around the circuit.

The Bear is an imposing sight when first encountered; thanks to over-sized tyres and a front mounted, oscillating blade. Fortunately, first impressions aren't everything and Ivan isn't as difficult to waste as he looks.

The Bear is a horrible car; poor handling means that Ivan will spin out of control often and a high centre of gravity makes it easy for him to topple over. Despite the blade on the front, The Bear is vulnerable to head-on collisions and has a lower strength rating than it probably should have.

Ivan's Bear is stealworthy and can be stolen from rank 55, or lower. There's no reason why you would want to use it, however, as it is slower, lighter, and accelerates at a lower rate than the Red Eagle. The Bear has a weight advantage over the Yellow Hawk, but this isn't really enough of a justification to switch vehicle. Should morbid curiosity get the better of you, lay off the vodka before you drive it...

Description: "He takes great pleasure in causing pain, and seems curiously keen to receive punishment in return. Who are you to argue?"

Advice: Kutter is not an aggressive driver by any means and he'd prefer to avoid a fight if at all possible. He simply doesn't have the vehicle to fight off an attack of any kind. Fortunately, for him, his car is very fast.

Kutter's Countslash is tied for Carmageddon's second fastest vehicle with Ed 101's Tashita Coupe but, despite both having a strength value of 1, feels considerably flimsier - this feels strange in game as the Countslash accelerates faster and weighs more than the Tashita Coupe. In fact, the Countslash feels like the weakest car in Carmageddon as it can be wasted with a relatively weak impact.

There are three other vehicles in Carmageddon that have a strength value of 1 (Ed 101's Tashita Coupe, Madam Scarlett's Fearari F666, and Vlad's Annihilator) and, on paper, the Countslash is the most well-rounded of the four, but in practice, the Countslash crumples like wet cardboard. The others can usually take ONE half-decent hit, but Kutter is usually eliminated from races with one collision from either of the starter cars, even without upgrades.

The Countslash is 'technically' weak to side-on collisions, but in all honesty, even the Grunge Buster can easily waste Kutter with rear hits.

Description: "Lady Bug-Smyth-Gery looks rather too sophisticated to be involved in this madness. You won't think that when she steams up your rear!"

Advice: Lady Bug is a fairly relaxed driver that appears too preoccupied to focus on attacking you. She'll occasionally pick on another driver, but she'll more than happy to drive around at her own leisurely pace.

The Bugutti is a stunning red Bugatti Type 41 "Royale" (one of the rarest production cars ever made) with non-standard whitewall tyres and side vents. It is one of the thinnest cars in the Splat Pack and is longer than the average car with a real world counterpart - creating a car which understeers quite a lot.

Unfortunately for Lady Bug, the performance of the Bugutti isn't as breathtaking as its appearance and only sports an average top speed, acceleration, kerb weight, and strength rating. However, you don't need to get anywhere quickly when you look as classy as this.

The Bugutti is weak to head-on collisions and only sports average armour. Due to how thin it is, the Bugutti isn't the easiest car to hit cleanly so it may be advantageous to attempt to shunt it into a wall or other obstacle to cause damage.

Description: "She's behind the wheel of one of the fastest cars on the circuit, And she'll take your breath away... for good."

Advice: Madam Scarlett appears at the beginning of the original Carmageddon and is a relatively easy opponent to deal with. She's not the most aggressive driver that you'll come up against - but certainly more so than Mech Maniac.

The Fearari F666 is one of the fastest vehicles seen in the original Carmageddon but offers nothing that Ed 101's Tashita Coupe doesn't already do. The Fearari is marginally slower than the Tashita but statistically identical in all other areas.

Of all the vehicles with a strength rating of 1, in the original Carmageddon, the Fearari is probably the second easiest to waste - narrowly losing out to the Tashita Coupe. Wasting this sports car is a relatively simple task; having a mid-engine, the sides are a particular weak point and are extremely vulnerable to side-on collisions.

The low kerb weight means that the Fearari can also be easily pushed around by most other vehicles and, when shunted from the side, can be helplessly piledriven into walls - this leads to some pretty easy destruction - and it allows you to avoid the blades on the front bumper.

Description: "He’s a hi-tech hi-spec speed freak who knows no fear. The Grungebuster is super-quick but super-twitchy, so Mech needs nerves of steel."

Advice: Mech Maniac is quite a skittish driver who would prefer to disappear away from a fight and race his tiny car around the circuit - and who can blame him? He's certainly one of the easier opponents in both Carmageddon and the Splat Pack to deal with.

The Grungebuster is feather light (in fact, it's the lightest vehicle in either Carmageddon or the Splat Pack) and fast. It's light weight and boxy nature means that you often see Mech Maniac helplessly stuck on his roof. It has a strength rating of 3 but its very easily wasted - I believe that this strength rating is artificially inflated to prevent it bursting into flames just from colliding with the scenery. The Grungebuster is small, fast, and maneuverable - providing a fairly difficult target. However, due to it's incredibly light weight it's very easy to push around - allowing you to slam it into a wall.

The Grungebuster can be stolen from rank 89 - meaning that you can be using it as early as the fourth race in the season. However, don't try and use this vehicle to waste others - it's far too weak! There are also faster and stronger options available at this rank, meaning that there really isn't a good reason to ever use it in a race... unless you are looking for the ultimate challenge.

Description: "Since major brain surgery Mikey hasn't been himself. That's because he was given a murdering lunatic's brain due to an administrative error."

Advice: Metal Mikey is an aggressive driver and will pursue you for the whole race. He drives with quite a balanced style; picking on weaker or damaged opponents but not afraid to flee if he's outclassed.

The De Gory'Un is a De Lorean DMC-12 with a blade covered beam bolted to the front bumper and fenders. It looks great and packs a decent punch but the top speed, acceleration, and kerb weight are only average, at best. The De Gory'Un has a strength rating of 4, which means that the armour is pretty tough.

Mikey's De Gory'Un is fairly low and wide, giving the car a low centre of gravity - this along with its wedge-like shape create a car that is not particularly easy to get underneath and one that can definitely cause a few issues for higher riding cars (such as Screwie Lewie's The Twister or even Don Dumpster's The Plow).

The De Gory'Un is weak to side-on collisions and you should do what you can to avoid getting too close to the front of it. The De Gory'Un is tough to incapacitate so repeated side-on collisions or attempting to piledrive it into a wall or obstacle would be the best way to deal with it.

Description: "It's chirpy Cockney Mike O′Kane, in the Killer Coop. Keep yer ′Mince Pies′ peeled, unless you want him to take that lance and ′Elephant and Castle′."

Advice: Mike O'Kane is one of the least aggressive drivers that you'll come up against; he'll do anything to avoid a fight. He'll use his tiny car to duck and dive away from collisions and will rarely try to attack other drivers.

The Killer Coop is a 1960s Mini Cooper and features no modifications, other than a rather large spike that has been attached to the driver's side wing. There's certainly no evidence that the armour or power has been increased since it rolled out of the factory.

Mike's Mini is a rather pathetic car; arguably the worst car in the Splat Pack - and probably worse than anything in the original Carmageddon as well. The only positive points about the Killer Coop are that the acceleration is pretty average and it is small target (making it harder to hit) - that's it. The negative points are that the top speed of 100 mph is abysmal (tied for slowest with Don Dumpster's The Plow, Sawbones' Blood Mobile, Big Daddy's Ramraider, and Moonchild's Piecemaker), the kerb weight of 0.7 tons is pathetic (tied for second lightest with Moonchild's Piecemaker), and that a strength rating of 1 is incredibly flimsy - the combination of these factors make the Killer Coop an incredibly slow car that is very easy to waste and too light to dish out damage.

The Killer Coop is 'technically' weak to head-on collisions, but in all honesty, even the Grunge Buster can easily waste Mike O'Kane without much effort. The kerb weight makes it incredibly easy to push around, as well.

The Piecemaker is a late 1960s Citroën 2CV and features no modifications, other than a cylinder lawnmower blade that has been attached to the front bumper. There's certainly no evidence that the armour or power has been increased since it rolled out of the factory.

Moonchild's Citroën is a rather pathetic car and is one of the worst in the Splat Pack. The only positive points about the Piecemaker are that the acceleration is pretty average and it has a strength rating of 2 - that's it. The negative points are that the top speed of 100 mph is abysmal (tied for slowest with Don Dumpster's The Plow, Sawbones' Blood Mobile, Big Daddy's Ramraider, and Mike O'Kane's Killer Coop), the kerb weight of 0.7 tons is pathetic (tied for second lightest with Mike O'Kane's Killer Coop), and its boxy nature makes it somewhat easy to tip onto its side - the combination of these factors make the Piecemaker an incredibly slow car that is easy to incapacitate and too light to dish out damage.

The Piecemaker is weak to head-on collisions and features below average armour - so won't cause any issues in wasting it. The kerb weight makes it incredibly easy to push around, as well.

Advice: Mother Trucker is an incredibly dangerous competitor that should be approached with extreme caution. She will attack any other driver, without warning, and can easily incapacitate virtually any vehicle in the Splat Pack.

At 5.0 tons, the Rig O'Mortis is the heaviest vehicle belonging to any competitor in Carmageddon or the Splat Pack (and tied with the Suppressor for heaviest overall). The huge truck cab towers over every other vehicle on the track (except for the Monster Masher) and can easily outmuscle anything that Ma Truck comes up against. Fortunately, the top speed is somewhat below average and the wheelbase makes the pensioner easy to outmaneuver, with the right car.

The Rig O'Mortis has incredible armour that only a select few vehicles can damage, even with level five offensive upgrades - leave the Caddy Fat Cat behind, it won't help you here. The Plow or the Suppressor will be able to whittle down the armour with fast, head-on collisions but anything else won't even make a dent. The Rig O'Mortis is by far the toughest competitor vehicle to waste.

Fortunately, the Rig O'Mortis can be stolen and can be unlocked at rank 21, or below - making it a fantastic option for aggressive drivers, late into the season. With level five upgrades to offense, very few vehicles can even survive being pushed by the Rig O'Mortis, let alone collided with at high speed.

"This man loves oranges, but because of his OTT suspension he tends to spill his orange juice everywhere!" - Juicy Jones

In the American version of Carmageddon, OK Stimpson was named Juicy Jones - he was presented with edited and recoloured blood on his shirt (to resemble orange juice...or O.J.) and a rewritten bio.

Juicy Jones' portrait has some obvious differences when compared to the other competitors - his name uses a different font and lacks any transitions - this makes the changes quite abrupt and jarring. No official statement has ever been made as to the reasons for the changes, although, the obvious likeness to O. J. Simpson seems likely.

Advice: OK Stimpson isn't a particularly aggressive driver, despite his car's appearance, and will flee from danger if he starts taking damage - making him one of the easier opponents in the original Carmageddon. He will attack you if you are nearby but then get himself out of harm's way as fast as he can.

The Fraud Broko is a large SUV that is far heavier than any other vehicle that appears at the start of the season - in fact, it is the heaviest vehicle in tier one. The top speed and acceleration are only average, at best, but it's imposing size and spiked bullbar definitely give the impression that he is more dangerous than he really is. There is one large issue with the Fraud Broko - it appears to be permanently equipped with the "Oh Dear, Jelly Suspension!" powerup. The suspension is incredibly loose and the frame wobbles on top of the wheels as if there were no shock absorbers, meaning the it's very easy to tip the Fraud Broko onto its side - in fact, OK Stimpson usually does this himself with very little effort on your part.

Stimpson's SUV is very vulnerable to head-on collisions, which are easy to line up as he is likely to be on his side for a large percentage of races. The Fraud Broko has a strength rating of three, so either of the starter cars should be able to make light work of it, even without offensive upgrades.

When the season is complete, and all of the CHEAT cars are unlocked, it's definitely worth taking the Fraud Broko for a spin, just to see what OK had to put up with all the way through the season.

Advice: Otis is one of the most aggressive mid season opponents who will stop at nothing to waste you if you scratch his paintwork. He will pursue you until he is wasted and will not flee from danger if you damage his car.

The Caddy Fat Cat is a great vehicle that appears mid season - it's quite fast and very strong with a low centre of gravity and a mean set of spikes on the front bumper.

Otis' dropped suspension helps create a very low target which is difficult to get underneath and the short sides prevent the Caddy from being tipped over. Otis is equally as aggressive as his Caddy and will pursue you for an entire race, if you hit him. To waste it you'll need to collide with it at high speed and head-on.

The Caddy Fat Cat can be stolen from rank 38, or lower, in both Carmageddon and the Splat Pack and provides a fantastic option for the mid to late season; much heavier and stronger than either of two starter cars and tied with Screwie Lewie's Twister in weight, although, it's a little bit slower than all three. Realistically, the Towmeister or the Caddy Fat Cat will see you through to the end of the season, due to being better rounded than The Plow. On that basis, the Caddy Fat Cat is the better option for nimble or tactical drivers that don't need the extra grunt that the Towmeister provides.

The Towmeister is heavy and well armoured, so you're going to need a tough car to trash it. Upgrading your offensive capabilities to the highest available at the time that Pitbull starts appearing will help, but it's still no easy task.

Pitbull's truck is bottom heavy and awkwardly shaped, thanks to the loading arm, which means that it rarely lands on its roof. Head-on collisions are the Towmeister's only real weakness and it's going to take quite a few attempts to really chip away at his armour.

Advice: Pսssy LaGore appears at the beginning of the Splat Pack and is a relatively easy opponent to deal with. She's quite aggressive and will chase you around the track, with little to no regard for her own safety.

The Killer Kitty is an extremely fast mid-engine sports car that is slightly longer than average and sports a bladed spoiler. Its acceleration and kerb weight are fairly average and it offers very little that other cars don't already do better.

Wasting this sports car is a relatively simple task; having a mid-engine, the sides are a particular weak point and are extremely vulnerable to side-on collisions.

The low kerb weight means that the Killer Kitty can also be easily pushed around by most other vehicles and, when shunted from the side, can be helplessly piledriven into walls - this leads to some pretty easy destruction - and it allows you to avoid the blades on the spoiler.

Description: "Psycho surgeon Sawbones is almost always the first to arrive on the scene of an accident. Usually he caused it."

Advice: Sawbones is a dangerous opponent who will single you out and pursue you until one of you is wasted. Dishing out damage is his main objective and he doesn't seem to care for his own safety.

The Blood Mobile is a blood soaked ambulance that doesn't feature any modifications. It's heavier than average and features some of the toughest armour in the Splat Pack. However, the acceleration of the Blood Mobile is definitely below average and the top speed of 100 mph is tied for the slowest in the Splat Pack (with Don Dumpster's The Plow, Mike O'Kane's Killer Coop, Big Daddy's Ramraider, and Moonchild's Piecemaker).

Sawbones' ambulance is weak to head-on collisions but its heavy armour means that some perseverance will be required. The Blood Mobile's kerb weight means its a tough vehicle to push around but its boxy nature makes it extremely vulnerable to getting stuck on its side or roof. Should you see Sawbones incapacitated, you should not miss the opportunity to line up fast head-on collisions.

Description: "This wacky guy favors the ‘supercar/monster truck/light aircraft/mole machine’ mode of transport. He’s about as insane as they come."

Advice: Insane, but not as aggressive as the other competitors. He'll often use the speed of his vehicle to out-run anyone that might threaten him. The Twister may look huge, thanks to a set of monster truck wheels, but its armour is quite light which means that the top speed is deceptively high.

The Twister is fairly similar to Ivan the Bastard's Bear in a lot of regards; same tier, same strength rating, same monster truck wheels, and a similar mounted weapon - however, the similarities end there as Lewie's mole machine is better than The Bear in almost every way; faster, heavier, and quicker off the line.

The bodywork is considerably more sleek than the other raised vehicles which makes it harder to incapacitate and it has enough strength to push back against most low level vehicles. Fast collisions to the rear will eventually chip away at what little armour Lewie has but The Twister is definitely a dangerous vehicle when first encountered as it can out-pace and out-muscle the Red Eagle (and is only slightly slower than the Yellow Hawk).

The Twister is stealworthy and can be stolen from rank 55, or lower, and is definitely a better option than any other stealworthy vehicle available at that time, being a solid balance of speed, weight, and strength which will tide you over until the Caddy Fat Cat or Towmeister become available.

Description: "Ex-squeeze of Agent Orange, Synthea's taken to the streets in order to avenge the agent's untimely demise." (Sinthea is misspelt in the flavour text)

Advice: Sinthea is a highly aggressive driver and reacts similarly to Otis P. Jivefunk - scratch her paintwork and she'll get mad and stop at nothing to trash you. Her flavour text mentions that she was in a relationship with Agent Orange and that he died between the events of Carmageddon and the Splat Pack - this makes him the only non-returning driver mentioned to have died in the canon of the story.

Sinthea and her car, The Sled, appear to be analogous to Agent Orange and his Leadpumper - they share the same driving style, similar car appearance, and an identical top speed, acceleration, and kerb weight... The only real difference between The Sled and Leadpumper is that Sinthea's car gains wheel mounted blades.

The Sled is a late 1940s black Plymouth Coupe with wheel mounted blades. It looks great, is heavy, and hits hard. The coupe is low and wide which allows Sinthea to easily attack you and can push most vehicles around with ease. The top speed and acceleration leave something to be desired but Sinthea is always on the attack and isn't trying to win a race by completing laps.

The Sled is weak to head-on collisions but has armour that is higher than average. Repeated collisions will be required to waste Sinthea and you'll need a tough car to make much of a dent.

Carmageddon & Splat Pack

Description: "Stella’s got herself wired to the battery of her super sleek racer, she says it gives her an extra buzz... enough said."

Advice: Stella has wired her crotch into the battery of her car to give her that "extra buzz" and the Electric Blue comes with a built in Electro-Bastard Ray which allows Stella to steal your kills by simply driving by, which she does with annoying regularity. As she is racking up points in pedestrian kills, Stella isn't particularly focused on attacking the other drivers and is somewhat skittish, preferring to get herself out of danger and to where pedestrians are trying to hide.

The Electric Blue is deceptively tough, having a strength rating of four, but shows up early enough in both Carmageddon and the Splat pack where you'd be forgiven for thinking it was easy to waste. It doesn't appear to be strongly armoured and, other than the paintjob, isn't as visually distinct as something like the Towmeister but it is significantly tougher than it appears to be.

Stella's car is also very fast with great acceleration, but is one of the lightest cars in either Carmageddon or the Splat Pack meaning that, should you be able to get hold of her, she's very easy to shunt into a wall or object.

The Electric Blue is weak to head-on collisions, thanks to having a front mounted engine, but can take quite a few impacts to waste - especially with low level upgrades. Unfortunately, it cannot be stolen but upon completing either game, it can be used, and it is definitely worth using for the permanent Electro-Bastard Ray alone.
Stig O'Sore: Volkswerker / Carrerasaur

Description: "Stig knows that what his car lacks in speed, it more than makes up for in strength and durability. And he thinks it’s beautiful."

Advice: Biactol boy, Stig, is very proud of his bug and will use whatever means necessary to stop you trashing it. He's a fairly passive opponent until you start attacking him, which allows you to leave him alone until the more dangerous drivers are out of the way.

The Volkswerker is fairly well armoured (for the early stage of the game, at least) and rather slow with poor acceleration. It's just like any other Beetle, apart from the array of huge spikes, of course. Despite having a strength rating of two, it feels like it has better armour than Wanda Lust's Cullwing or Val Hella's Cleaver - probably a balancing method for the considerably lower speed and awful acceleration. The performance of the Volkswerker is rather underwhelming when upgrades for the Eagle are available, but it can cause a few issues at the very beginning of the season and shouldn't be taken lightly in the first few races.

Stig's Beetle has a low ground clearance and will catch his bodywork on objects on the floor quite regularly. The handling seems quite poor as it also has a habit of tumbling out of control when at speed. Like most of the car-based vehicles in game, Volkswerker is weak to head-on collisions but it will take more impacts than the others to waste him (without decent offensive upgrades, of course).

Description: "Stig traded up from his old Volkswerker, to the latest model from the Porky Mo.Co. The Carrerasaurus is hard, fast and drop dead gorgeous..."

Advice: Stig is back for the Splat Pack with a new car and drives in much the same as the original Carmageddon; he's fairly passive until you attack him, but now he has a faster car and will hunt you down.

The Carrerasaurus is a much better car in practically every regard; faster, heavier, and an incredible 8.0 seconds faster when going from 0-60mph. It retains the strength rating of two and feels just as well armoured as the Volkswerker. The issues with the low ground clearance seem to have been fixed as well and the handling is sharper and more responsive. The Carrerasaurus is definitely a formidable vehicle to compete against at the beginning of the Splat Pack.

Stig's car now sports a rear-engine layout, mirroring its real world counterpart, which moves the weak spot to the back. Fortunately, it's still not too difficult to waste - but rear weak spots are somewhat harder than the front or sides to target.

Stig is the only competitor whose vehicle is stealworthy in the Splat Pack but not the original Carmageddon and the Carrerasaurus can be stolen from rank 89, or below. It is possible to steal it from as early as the third race of the Splat Pack season and acts somewhat like a slower (but better accelerating) version of the Eagle II. It's certainly better than either of the two other cars that can be stolen at rank 89 (the returning Tashita Coupe and Grunge Buster) but it isn't really a better option than either the Eagle II or Hawk II.

Description: "Techno-crazy Su split from the Auto-Scum to indulge in some solo road-rampage. The Doozer packs a helluva punch, so watch out!"

Advice: Su Borg is a former member of the non-returning Auto-Scum gang and drives in pretty much the same way as they did in the original Carmageddon. She's not overly aggressive but will drive around the track looking for an opportunity to strike.

The Doozer is a heavily modified industrial bulldozer sporting a decorated blade. It's fairly heavy, for a tier 2 vehicle, and has decent acceleration but suffers from a pretty terrible top speed. Su biggest problem, however, is an incredibly short wheelbase which makes the Doozer very unstable and likely to spin out of control or rock back and forth on its wheels as it moves around. This instability allows you to easily outmaneuver Su.

Thanks to the heavy blade on the front of the Doozer, Su Borg is not weak against head-on collisions. Instead, the sides of the Doozer should be targeted when trying to waste it and its instability should definitely be taken advantage of when lining up a high speed impact. The Doozer sports average armour so wasting it should not cause any issues.

The Doozer can be stolen from rank 55, or below. However, due to the handling issues and pathetic top speed, the Doozer should be left in the garage.

Description: "He's behind the wheel of one of the fastest cars on the circuit... and one of the softest. Catch him in a head-on and send him into orbit!"

Advice: The Ashteroid appears at the beginning of the Splat Pack and is a relatively easy opponent to deal with. He's not the most aggressive driver that you'll come up against - but certainly more so than Mech Maniac.

The Ashteroid and his car, the Fearari F999, appear to be analogous to Madam Scarlett and her Fearari F666 - they share the same driving style, similar car names, similar car appearance, an identical top speed and kerb weight... The only real differences between the Fearari F999 and F666 is that The Ashteroid's car loses the bladed front bumper but manages to shave a full two seconds off of the 0-60 mph time - making it the best accelerating vehicle in either the original Carmageddon or the Splat Pack, beating Vlad's Annihilators by 0.1 seconds.

Of all the vehicles with a strength rating of 1, in the Splat Pack, the Fearari is probably the second easiest to waste - narrowly losing out to the Tashita Coupe. Wasting this sports car is a relatively simple task; having a mid-engine, the sides are a particular weak point and are extremely vulnerable to side-on collisions.

The low kerb weight means that the Fearari can also be easily pushed around by most other vehicles and, when shunted from the side, can be helplessly piledriven into walls - this leads to some pretty easy destruction.

Description: "She's the self-crowned queen of the race scene, and her chariot is aptly equipped with wheel mounted blades."

Advice: Val is convinced she is queen of the race circuit and will trash anyone who says otherwise. She's very aggressive, especially when compared to other tier one drivers, but shouldn't cause too many issues.

The Cleaver is a low-slung, modified sports car and features wheel mounted blades which are ideal for mowing down pedestrians. It is fast, nimble, and surprisingly heavy - more than it probably deserves to be. It's quite similar to Wanda Lust's Cullwing but better in every regard.

Unfortunately for Val, Cleaver only has a strength rating of two, meaning that you won't have any issues in smashing it up. She's particularly weak to head-on collisions but you should probably avoid attempting to shunt her into a wall, until you have some upgrades.

Description: "For Vlad, it's not the winning, it's the taking apart that counts. This car's speed is unbeatable... Just don't try to corner it."

Advice: The joint-fastest vehicles in the Max Pack, nothing else even comes close. No other stock vehicle can even break 300 mph, let alone 400 mph! However, speed isn't everything and the Annihilators are among the worst handling vehicles available. Due to extreme understeer, cornering is practically impossible in anything other than first gear.

At tier 1 and strength 1, you should never have any issues wasting either Annihilator, except, if you're driving the Grunge Buster (maybe). Head-on collisions will make extremely short work of the Annihilators but you're going to be aiming for a small target. Due to the length and low speed cornering, side-on collisions to the front section would provide a much easier target. For an easy wasting, position yourself in front of Vlad on the starting grid and simply slam the Eagle into reverse on the green light. Vlad will probably survive the initial smash but is almost guaranteed to go up in flames when piledriven into a wall.

The Annihilator is stealworthy from rank 89, which would allow you to potentially steal it as early as the third race of the season. However, there are better vehicles available in almost all circumstances. Tight courses can only be navigated at a snail's pace and the low ground clearance on offer make the Annihilators difficult to use on anything other than straight asphalt. A low strength level also does nothing to enhance the experience. With the exception of top speed and acceleration, the Eagles and Hawks are better in every regard.

The Annihilator and Annihilator II are statistically identical and only vary in appearance. That said, the Annihilator is stealworthy whilst the Annihilator II is not. Unlike other non-stealworthy vehicles in Splat Pack, Vlad's vehicle lacks a CHEAT banner which leads me to believe that this omission is a mistake.
Wanda Lust: Cullwing

Featured In:
Carmageddon only

Description: "She's mean, lean and she's got a killing machine. Wanda's lust is primarily for blood - yours."

Advice: Wanda Lust can run rings around you, and often will. However, her blood-lust soon gets the better of her and she will often try to trash you. She's quite an aggressive driver but doesn't seem to have the longest attention span and won't relentlessly pursue you, making her something of an opportunist.

Cullwing is a sleek, silver, blade-infested sports car, adorned with slightly disturbing "I ♥ U" license plates. It's rather fast and has decent acceleration but, thanks to a strength rating of two, is very weak and prone to folding after a nasty crash.

Wanda is weak to head-on collisions but attempting to shunt her around is probably best avoided as Cullwing weighs as much as Red Eagle and more than all of the other available vehicles whilst she still appears.

Taking out pedestrians isn't something I gave much thought to (when I probably should have) but that's a fantastic point - it's one of the reasons I hate the Annihilator. I feel the Project X would have a similar effect although it's more awkward to drive.

The Plow is actually a great vehicle. That wide front makes it a lot easier to harvest multiple pedestrians from a group at once giving you 4x or 5x bonus, where the Eagle and Hawk thread through the crowd and you're lucky to pick up a 2x bonus. I got 460,000 points in the Splat Pack's "Figure of Hate" by repeatedly scooping up lots of pedestrians and getting two Pedestrian Respawns. And in Splat Pack at least, the Plow is pretty good at landing upright.

Great guide, and exactly as I remember it and am rediscovering on replay – Towmeister or Caddy Fat Cat FTW. The Twister is better for exploring once you're ahead on time. "If you see a ramp, take it" (Steve Winwood) ♫

@Seseorang, the manual only shows top speed, acceleration, and kerb weight. I've corrected mistakes from the manual, added additional statistics from the in-game files, and gone into far more detail than the manual.

After some testing and checking info from other sources i am certain than Grunge Buster becomes stealworthy at rank 55, not 89. Phew, that sure took a while to confirm this.
