Puzzle Dependency Charts (PDCs) offer a fascinating insight into the design and structure of puzzle adventure games. The can be used for study purposes and as a walkthrough.

If you want to learn more about PDCs, you can read my blog post here[dreamsofgerontius.com]. Short version: they were conceived by Ron Gilbert while designing Monkey Island, and I use LucasArts' The Dig as an example.

If you are struggling with Goetia, this PDC shows how the puzzles depend from one another. Rather than giving the full answer, a PDC tells you what information or items you require to solve a puzzle, to point you in the right direction or to let you know if you are at a dead end.

This PDC covers only the manor section of Goetia, where the game starts and ends. The 4 other areas are not mapped out in full, only the results of completing those areas (by banishing demons and gaining powers) on the mansion.
