Guide for Commander's Challenge

This guide will show you how to finish all 50 challenges under par time.

Summary
There're a total of 50 challenges, so use "Ctrl + F" to find the challenge you need. Some challenges pit you against "Brutal" AI, which receives double income from Ore Refineries. I'll make it clear if they are present.

Now let's learn some of the basic strategies:

Empire Dojo Rush
Get 3-4 Dojo cores and move them near your enemy, then deploy them and use a quick burst of Tankbusters to defeat your enemy. Do not deploy all of them as you need one core to crush enemy infantry. You'll usually need to sell your MCV since this is an all-out strategy, and you'll need a couple of Imperial Warriors to shut down enemy Barracks/Boot Camp/Dojo, or Archer Maidens if your enemy uses aircraft. To ensure you don't suffer from "low power" stuff, deploy a Generator at your starting location while doing this. It may seem stupid but it really just works. If a challenge has a par time of less than 7 minutes, this should always be the way to go. Top Secret Protocol should focus on Honorable Discharge.

Empire Tengu + VX Spam
Buy the Mecha Bay Upgrade immediately after you build one to mass Mecha Tengu and Striker-VX. Tengus can shred infantry or tear apart enemy aircrafts while the VXs demolish enemy structures. It takes some micro but it's a very versatile and potent strategy. If your enemy does not do early raids, you can boom up a little by going for 4 Ore Refineries and 2 Mecha Bays. If they do raid, make a few Tengus and VXs to help defend. Advanced Rocket Pods should be prioritized.

Empire Rocket Angel Spam
Do not bother with Mecha Bay, instead, go for the Nanotech Mainframe and buy the Dojo Breakthrough fast. This takes longer to be fully functional and you'll spend more time and credit for the preparation but once there, Rocket Angels can take on anything thrown against them for a much cheaper price than Tengu + VX combo. If your enemy tends to throw in a lot of Tengus or AA jets, it's better to go back to the Tengu + VX combo. Why yes, Rocket Angels are great, but they are not great against AA jets. Again, pick up Advanced Rocket Pods.

Soviets Super Reactor Bomb
Start with Crusher Crane and continue the normal build with it, but move your MCV close to your enemy and deploy a Super Reactor in their base. AIs will always target a constructing building first, and thankfully due to the bug in Uprising, even a 1% constructed Super Reactor will explode with full might when destroyed. Following it up with a Tower Rush or forward Barracks usually yields better results. Cash Bounty is preferred.

Soviets Tower Rush
Start with Crusher Crane and continue the normal build with it, move your MCV close to your enemy and put sentry guns/tesla coils near their ore refineries. You can always follow it up with a forward Barracks/War Factory.

Soviets Engineer + Terror Drone Combo
If the enemy packs their MCVs because of your engineer, the Terror Drone can infect it and then destroy it. Useful in early games and is often used with either Bullfrog or Twinblade.

Note that my tactics are not always the best, but at least I can assure you that it does work, even for a noob like me. This guide is aim to get every challenge under par time, so you should never press that red button, which sets your timer to 99:59.

Side notes: The two enemies will ignore you until you attack (capturing buildings, killing their units, etc) either of them, which makes it a 1-vs-2 fight.

Strategy: Get a good economy setting up and then just rush both enemy simultaneously with tanks. Soviets and Empire are recommended as they expand faster.

Side notes: Enemy starts with a few Generators and some Defender-VXs and will also actively try Tower Rush.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush. You need a few Burstdrones to trick the enemy so his base defenses will only use the AA mode, leaving your infantry unharmed. Allied Javelin Soldier with Heroic Veterancy can outrange those turrets when using the laser mode, you can farm veterancy by killing Kenji's nanocores.

I recommend you to get this done as soon as possible. Because many of my strategies will need Striker-VX.

Strategy: I would suggest going with Soviet War Bear spam. Attack Dogs are too fragile and thus will die easily to the Imperial Warriors. If you haven't got War Bear yet, go get them in Number One Threat to America. This is a side challenge anyways, so it's okay to leave it undone for a while.

The build order is to get 2 Barracks up soon, then just start spamming War Bears and send them to all 3 enemy bases to spawncamp their Dojos. You may wonder, how can I spawncamp 3 enemies with 2 Barracks? Well, just make sure you shut down one early, then you can leave a group of bears there and focus on the other two. After all Dojos are shut down, all that takes to finish the level is one Natasha.

Yuriko has an AoE move that kills all infantry units around her, so keep that in mind when controlling the bears and do not lose too many to that.

Also, remember to put some towers to defend the slopes just in case Takara plans to flank you from behind.

Strategy: Those cannons can obliterate anything in 1 hit, so let's not waste time on ground battle. Empire Tengu + VX spam will work just fine.

Side notes: Orange will never bother attacking you if Green is not completely defeated. And once both Green base lose their MCVs, you gain the vision of Orange and trigger their aggro.

Strategy: Oh boy, our very first difficult one. Do not be frustrated if it takes multiple tries, since I already suffered. My strategy is to pick Empire and use the great mobility of their Refinery Cores to quickly get yourself 8 Ore Mines buffing your economy in the early game, then flood Shinzo (Orange) with VX + Tengu spam, and later Kenji (Green). Shinzo has many Jet Tengus so make sure you can secure air superiority over him with your own mass of Jet Tengus.

Build Order: Dojo (garrison in buildings to hold off early aggression) -> Generator x2 -> Ore Refinery x3 -> Mecha Bay (add in a few Tengus and VXs to help defend) -> Ore Refinery x5 -> Mecha Bay (as many as you like, to quickly amass an army of 20+ VXs and 10+ Tengus).

Side notes: Enemy units gain veterancy for each base destroyed.

Strategy: Despite being 1 vs 5, all enemies seem to be on the lowest difficulty. All you need to do is to pick Empire to do the Dojo Rush to every enemy base, the key is to shut down their barracks so you can get engineer to capture their buildings and sell them for money, still watch out for collectors crushing though. Or you can try use Soviets with Bear spam to shut down enemy barracks, then capture their buildings. Note that 4 of 5 base will sell everything if their production structures are gone (MCV, Barracks, etc.), so one base will require you to destroy them completely. Of course Moskvin is going to study your tactics so don't worry about killing his men.

If Dojo Rush is too much of micro for you, playing normally with Tengu + VX spam works as well and you don't even need that big of an army to take them down.

Side notes: There are many giant bears called "Ursa Major" around the map, which possess strong firepower against land units and ships. Any unit that lands the final blow to kill them receives instant Heroic Veterancy.

Strategy: Empire with VX spam. The giant bears give instant Heroic Veterancy to whichever unit that lands the killing blow, so use them to get an army of fully upgraded VXs to get rid of Oleg (Red). It works better if you have Sea-Wings unlocked when trying this.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush but this time you have to figure out the best destination for your Dojo Cores to unfurl, otherwise you'll probably need to restart. I usually deploy them near the top right area of enemy base. Enemy infantry will take the nearby houses so make sure you take them first to secure a foothold before going in. This level isn't hard but rushing through it could be very difficult, and a 4-minute threshold has to be Dojo Rush.

Strategy: Empire VX spam, only VX for this mission and don't waste money on adding too many Tengus, usually 2 at your own base for defending enemy Sky-Wings and 3 for killing enemy infantry is enough. Do remember that enemy has Archer Maidens, take them out first and then Dojos. You only have 9 minutes to defeat 3 enemies, so you must sell your MCV once your Mecha Bay is up otherwise the "insufficient funds" will slow you down considerably. Dojo Rush might work but Sky-Wings counter infantry very hard.

Side notes: All players start with an Iron Curtain protected by Tesla Coils and Flak Cannons. As long as the Iron Curtain stands, the corresponding player's base will be forever invulnerable.

Strategy: If you decide to do this one early, Empire Tengu + VX spam should be the way to go here, otherwise you can try Harbinger Gunship or even the Giga-Fortress. You can snipe those Iron Curtains and Super Reactors down with VXs without triggering Flak Cannons so take your time positioning them to minimize casualities. Once all the Iron Curtains are down, flood them with the wrath of Tengus and VXs. Oleg only targets your Iron Curtain and he will not raid your Ore Refineries, so leave a few VXs at home to help and take your time booming up the economy.

By the time you reach your destination, Vera should have Mortar Cycles already, so make sure you don't accidentally get their aggro too early by deploying a bit further away from her base.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush. Sell your MCV and send the engineer to a nearby Hospital for the heals. Take out Vera and Lydia first, as they will use aircraft against you if left for too long, and Archer Maidens are too costly for such tactics. Takara does not use aircraft whatsoever so you can spare her early on.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush. 2-3 Dojos for each base. In most cases you can surely defeat at least 2 of them easily, so if the 3rd one didn't take that much damage, just rally your forces that were steamrolling the other two and get rid of the final one. Remember to capture the Veteran Academy and Hospital. Striker VX + Tengu spam works fine since you have 20,000 credits to start with, but you need to watch out for massed Archer Maiden.

Strategy: Soviets Super Reactor Bomb combined with Tower Rush, then finish the rest with Flak Troopers. It still fails sometimes but I think the failure rate is low enough to be a qualified tactic. They key here is to kill the 2 Reapers with your Super Reactor so your Barracks and infantry have a bit more chance surviving. Dojo rush is possible but requires a bit of luck and some micro because Reapers can stomp on your infantry with their special ability, not to mention that the enemy still use Twinblades, which means you have to spend more money for Archer Maidens.

Strategy: Empire Tengu + VX spam. Feel free to get more Ore Mines before taking the battle to Moskvin. He does drop some Flak Cannons, so make sure you kill his Super Reactor fast. Keeping a few Tengus at home also helps in case Moskvin sends random Kirovs at you.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush against both enemies simultaneously. If you're too slow to pull this off, focus on killing one but leave one Powerplant/Reactor standing before taking the fight to the other.

Strategy: Empire VX + Tengu Rush. First you get some Tengus to harass Giles' collectors and shoot down their Vindicators, this will soon make him sell everything and thus render them useless for the entire game. In the mean while, make some more Tengus to defend yourself from Vera (she basically only use Twinblades after the initial infantry raiding party, so a few Tengus can keep them out of your Ore Refineries easily). Then you can send a few VXs to finish Giles off, and Vera soon after.

05-02-01-01 Vicious Cycle

Side notes: Enemy to the south-east starts with some Spectrum Towers for defense.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush and Tengu + VX spam. First make 2 Dojos to the enemy to the south-east, deploy them near the lighthouse, then make around 15 Tankbusters and some Imperial Warriors. Garrison your Tankbusters into the lighthouse so they can dispatch one Spectrum Tower unharmed. Once it's down, you can sneak in and shred their base because they will not make any land units. Take out powerplants first and all their base defense will be offline, you can then finish the rest. Do not spend too much on making infantry since they won't be useful for taking the other base. The enemy base to the top-left might constantly harass you with Riptide ACVs and later those tanks and Athena Cannons, so blow up the bridge to prevent their fierce land units. The ACVs aren't that troublesome so a few Tengus and VXs can keep them out for good. After that you just wait for your Tengu + VX spam and kill the last enemy, they might have additional ore refineries on water at this point so keep an eye out.

You must take out the enemy to the south-east first because they will soon amass Harbinger Gunships and escort them with large amount of Apollos if left ignored.

Dojo Rush again works, but requires good micro.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush. Need an engineer (selling you MCV is the best choice) to repair the bridge so you can flank the enemy. That Greater King Oni might be a bit troublesome but it won't bull rush or crush your infantry, and your Tankbusters can take 2 hits from the monstrosity. Burrowing does not reduce damage taken so don't waste time on that.

Strategy: Empire VX spam but first dojo rush against the closest base, then you can either keep it for 4 ore refineries or sell them for quick cash. Blow up 2 bridges to the left and right, this will force them to take the middle path. Get like 6 VXs and you're ready to wipe the two remaining base off the floor. The enemy doesn't seem to use Javelin Soldiers or IFVs very often, so no need for Tengus.

Strategy: Getting Yuriko Omega and Rocket Angel first is recommended (actually any commando works, as long as you get some proper escort). You can use her along with escort from Rocket Angels to take out all 5 bases (in a counter-clockwise pattern) with little problem. However you should remember that enemy might build Spectrum Tower, therefore you should target their powerplants first and avoid all turrets, if it can't be avoided, send in your Rocket Angels to do a kamikaze attack. Enemy aerial units will not bother to harass your economy so take your time to expand. There are some other strategies like quickly hitting T3 and spamming heavy-bombardment ships or flood them with Tsunami Tanks.

Strategy: Soviets with Hammer Tank spam. Try to get 3 Ore Refineries and 2 War Factories fast, then sell your MCV and send the engineer to take Hill's Garage so he no longer has auto-repair on tanks. Now you just spam Hammer Tanks, set the rally point straight to your enemy's base, and remember to repeatedly press F to make them deal insane damage with their Leech Beam (a bug from 1.000 version of Red Alert 3, which Uprising is based on). You'll need this technique to make sure their MCV never escapes.

Side notes: There are lots of unmanned vehicles scattering around the map, with most of the T3 units near the middle.

Strategy: Empire Dojo Rush and get as many T3 units as you can. Once you capture the majority of those T3 and bombardment units, you can steamroll the rest of the two enemies simultaneously since their T1/T2 units won't stand against T3 units. Soviets can also do this trick thanks to their cheapest Conscript cost. Make it quick or it will be super hard.

Strategy: 3 minutes? That has to be Empire Dojo Rush. Best with 5+ Dojos and a few Generators, deploy the Dojos a bit further away from Lydia and keep pumping out Tankbusters and Archer Maidens once you get enough Imperial Warriors to shut down enemy Boot Camp.

Destroy their production buildings and MCVs first, then go to the next enemy and do the same, and eventually come back and kill them for good. Soviets Engineer + Terror Drone Combo with Bullfrog can be extremely useful to put them down fast if you can do this to all 3 enemies at once. As the name implies, you must be quick or you'll be dead because all enemies boom up really fast. It's a difficult challenge, but definitely worth it once you know how versatile Rocket Angel Spam can be.

Do this a few times and Takara will sell everything, then you just clean up her base at ease.

Rush your way to T3 and start spamming these units, with some proper escort, then slowly wipe the enemy off the floor.

Strategy: You start with 40k credits and we already have the Harbinger Gunships at our disposal, so the best way to beat this challenge is to choose the Allied, get the Advanced Aeronautics upgrade, then set up 4 Air Bases and spam the Harbinger Gunships and Apollo Fighters while spamming Refinery Cores from the Empire MCV for booming. For the early game, just spam the entrance to your base at the top and bottom with base defenses, this will deny most of enemy early raids. Kenji will use Yuriko and Giga-Fortress so killing him first is suggested.

Then get 2 Mecha Bays ready with one of them creating some Tengus to deal with early harassment. Once you get 3-4 VX ready, you can take them along with those previous Tengus to Vera, use Tengu to deal with enemy Twinblades and Flak Troopers while VXs blowing up production buildings. Oleg may help Vera so kill his units if they get in the way. Once Vera is out, kill Oleg and Moskvin with the same tactic. Chopper-VXs can do the Reverse Move command (D key by default) while in the air so use that to pull them away from a exploding Super Reactor.

Strategy: Oh boy, I will say this is by far the hardest challenge. But luckily we have 4 Future Tanks, so send them to kill Hill (Green) first. You can just run in and use the Riot Beam to destroy all 4 Spectrum Towers, or force attack the ground and use the splash damage to destroy the Spectrum Towers if you want to play safe (the Spectrum Towers won't hit back when your Future Tanks are positioned right). And while you are doing this, build normally and protect your Ore Refineries with massed Tengus because Giles (Blue) is very aggressive with his Vindicators and they are not scared away by base defenses.

After all Spectrum Towers are down, move your Future Tanks in and use the Riot Beam on Hill's MCV, it takes 2 Riot Beam payloads to kill an MCV so make sure you kill it before it runs away. After Hill's down, you can move back to focus on Lydia (Purple). Lydia makes Cryocopters and Giles sometimes goes for your Future Tanks if he can't hit your Ore Refineries so you'll need to keep some Tengus to escort the Future Tanks. If you can secure your base at this point with the Tengus you can add in some VXs to kill the Spectrum Towers faster. Then you do what you did to Hill before to Lydia again after the Spectrum Towers are down.

Giles usually has Proton Colliders ready at this point, and he probably will send in Tanya and soon the Harbinger Gunships if you keep ignoring him, so time to add in more VXs and toss him out of the battle before things go nasty.

This is a legitimately great guide overall. The strats aren't the funnest thing (I like big siege matches, pretty much), but they are very well made and I can confirm they work beyond a shadow of a doubt. I did NOT know VX + Tengu stuff was this strong.

I actually beat Vicious Circle just now in 10:13, which feels nutso.

Show of Force.
The way to victory lies through Combined Arms Warfrare. Assemble an army consisting from Apocalypse Tanks, Reapers, Sickles, and Desolators and just wipe all enemy bases out. Before that, protect your base with Tesla Towers and bunkers, which garrisons consist from Flak Troopers and Conscripts. Time - 19:58.

The Final Countdown.
The easiest way to beat is to spam as many Soviet Dreadnoughts as possible. Giles' Vindicators are terrible against T3 ships and the enemy will try to use his superweapons against your warships, rather than to destroy your base (time - 14:20).

Arms Race.
Your enemy does not use air force at all, so I beat him as Allies. I used the chronoanomaly to disable the Vacuum Imploder and spamed Harbingers (time - 13:59).

thanks. decided to playtrhis game first time in 2025 and wanted to start with chellenge to learn units. quickly learned its ntoo tough as enemy has all units and upgrades and does every action in 0.1 sec and runs away all time.

@Kenzo The Punished Well you can make a guide of your own with different strategies. But while its not a major issue to beat all the missions, I dont know how to beat half of them under par time without those cheesy strategies. How do you do that?
