The method I found most consistent is to just spam W and S. The rhythm has to be just right, a bit slower than most people tend to do.

It's easier then that. Just spin camera in one direction three times fast while moving forward, set sensitivity to high. Don't step on your scarf or to some layers on a map. Find some flat spot, with no steps, make sure that your scarf flaps on the back, not spinning round your head and go, a few steps and spin. Rinse and repeat. It's like using left stick of the controller - three spins and a jump, cha-cha-cha.
