Depending on your download speed, this simple process will take 4 minutes! :)!

Let's fix the desaturated and monotonous colour palette, and enjoy Albion as a vibrant and fantasy-esque world, featuring biomes distinct from one another! (as seen in s.3 below)

Head on over to s.4 get started!

  • Open your Fable 3 Game Directory, the file location where your "Fable3.exe" and "Data" folder can be found.
    In my case, "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fable 3", yours may be on your "C:\" drive.






  • Navigate to your "Downloads" folder, right click and open "Boulotaur2024.Injector_CeeJay.dks.1.4" with either 7-Zip or WinRAR, and drag only the files which I have highlighted in blue below, into your Fable 3 Game Directory.





    Great job! Nearly done!


  • Navigate to your "Downloads" folder, right click on "SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b", and rename it to "SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b.txt"

    You will know this has worked if you see "Text Document" written besides "SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b", as seen in the image below.



  • Navigate to your Fable 3 Game Directory, drag your modified "SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b", into the "Preset" folder located in the "SweetFX" folder, as seen below



    Final step now! <3


  • Navigate to your Fable 3 Game Directory, open "SweetFX_preset.txt", you will see that it says:

    #include "..\..\SweetFX_settings.txt"

    Replace the above with:

    #include "../Presets/SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b.txt"



    All done!


    You can see in the above image, the six files we copied from "Boulotaur2024.Injector_CeeJay.dks.1.4", into the Fable 3 Game Directory , this is how your directory should look! :).
s6.) NVIDIA Settings
  • Navigate to your "Taskbar" and select "Show hidden icons", right click on "NVIDIA Settings" and select "NVIDIA Control Panel"
    Alternately, search in the start bar for "NVIDIA Control Panel"






    The Guide is almost over! Last step!



  • Select "Manage 3D Settings", select "Program Settings", on the dropdown menu, select "Fable III (fable3.exe)"
    Only under "Specify the settings for this Program:", copy my below settings







    Go you! Your nostalgic 11 year old masterpiece is now gorgeous!

For anyone using this in 2025, if you get the Improper Shutdown error is because the file name in the SweetFX_preset.txt file. In the instructions he says to use this file name #include "../Presets/SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b.txt"

However you should use the file name of the downloaded txt preset file mine looks like this #include "../Presets/SweetFX_Settings_b'Fable III (Fable 3)'_b_nAKAZZ' Fable III ++ Colorful [SFX 1.4+]_.txt"


This solved the improper shutdown error and the game looks so damn good now!

Anyone with the "Improper Shutdown" Error, Add the SweetFX_X64 folders files to your Fable III game directory(Click replace files when prompted). Then it will work :D.

Is it possible to play online with my gf if one of us were to use a fitgirl-repack version of the game ? or am i stuck waiting for key prices to hopefully drop one day

As the key prices have gone bananas I just used the fit girl repack to play on windows 10. Following this guide I get the "improper shutdown" error aswell.

Im assuming this is something to do with the way the game is cracked. Is there a work around for this?

I've further simplified this guide because some of you were copy and pasting incorrectly, that should no longer be an obstacle for you!

At the time that you tried to view the other guide I was modifying it, explaining why steam didn't let you view it!

You should have access to it now so be sure to install all 64 DLCs by following the linked guide! :rosebud:

I'm getting improper shutdown as well sadly. Followed the guide exactly... only slight difference is not having the same NVIDIA settings. Oh well, my shader does well enough.

Improper shutdown. Had a modified working copy of Fable III PC edition. Never saw this error before I installed the color fix.

I'm sorry to hear that you've put time and effort into modding Fable 3, and it didn't result in you achieving what you had hoped for, modders feel your pain haha! :rosebud:


My assumption based on the improper shutdown error is that you didn't follow a Fable 3 Installation guide before attempting this Graphics guide? Because Windows 10 and the default GFWL launcher crash unmodded Fable 3

In conclusion be sure to have followed my linked Installation guide in the prerequisites tab, before following this Graphics guide
