Description

Welcome, Kyoudai.

The purpose of this guide is to tell you how to restore the licensed music from the Japanese version of Yakuza 6 that was unfortunately cut from all western versions of the game due to SEGA refusing to license the songs in question - "Soubou", "Atom no Ko", "Kibou to Iu Na no Hikari", "飛遊人-Human-" and "Kataomoi" by Japanese singer "Tatsuro Yamashita" as well as "Don Quixote Theme" of the Japanese discount chain store "Don Quijote Co., Ltd.".
Furthermore, contrary to some popular belief the cuts pertain to more than just the game's intro scene, thankfully this guide will cover all the necessary steps needed to restore all of the cut music so worry not.
Restorations pertain to a variety of cutscenes in the game, Don Quijote store and the game's ending credits scene.
Those of you that might be familiar with our music restoration patches for the PS3 and PS4 Yakuza titles should be right at home with this guide, as the steps to follow will be just as simple if not simpler thanks to not needing a hacked PS3 or PS4 console to use this.
This video below will give you a glimpse of what you can expect after restoring the licensed music:

Installation

Now here come the steps on how to install the patch.

First of all, you will need to download the package from the link below which contains the patch and all its necessary files:
https://www.nexusmods.com/yakuza6/mods/66/

After that, extract the contents of the archive with the patch to a folder of your own choice, it's compressed in 7z format which can be unpacked using 7zip or WinRAR, though I do recommend 7zip for best compatibility to avoid any potential issues.

Next you'll need to open the folder with the game itself, naturally make sure it's installed beforehand.
You can do so by Right Clicking it in your Steam Library and then selecting Properties -> go into the Local Files tab -> and finally press the Browse Local Files button which will open the folder with the game.

Now all you will need to do is select all the files from the licensed music restoration patch you unpacked earlier and copy them to the folder with the game, overwriting the files when asked if you want to do so - this is crucial.

The only thing left for you at this point is to simply start the game and enjoy it in all its restored glory.
You can expect similar guides for future Yakuza games once they make their way to PC in the future.

It's an honor to have you here.

Conclusion

I would also like to direct your attention to the upcoming Yakuza Kenzan fantranslation project being worked on by my friend, Slow, you can find more information about it as well as my patches for the PS3 and PS4 Yakuza titles over on his website which can you find under the link below:

Dude, there are other sites not called Mediafire, Google Drive, MEGA, etc. that you can host this stuff on like this one:

https://gofile.io/welcome

Doesn't require the creation of a burner account like NexusMods does; AKA the "this game isn't built for mods, so just use our mod manager to get it working" site. The days of modding games like you could back in UT2K4, the original Star Wars Battlefront games, Quake 3, etc. are over, and only CSGO is a game that's just a better version of the Counter-Strikes before it, so of course those games support mods.

just commenting to say thanks a lot for this patch. Yamashita's tracks add so much to those scenes and I couldn't imagine them hitting so hard without them.

seems there's an issue, at least on my end.
After the intro, where the ending of yakuza 5 is shown, the next scene (hospital) refused to load. decided to verify to return the original files and it loaded up right away.
Will try installing the patch again later

But long story short, due to GDrive policy changes some months ago, we lost access to the original patches and we do not have any backups and as such we lost them and can't reupload them. And with the advent of PC ports, we don't really see a point in recreating them either, with PC versions being superior and us moving on in life and no longer having time for maintaining and working on older stuff.

Look, we already said we do not support it so we'd really appreciate if you didn't continue this topic. This is a guide for the PC version and as such we'd prefer not to get it cluttered with comments about console version.

You can no longer host it? That doesn't make sense. Why not just dump it on mediafire? You're gonna get taken down if that happens?

It means we can no longer host it, so if you're desperate for it you might be able to find it online somewhere.
