AVP is a fun game. Now when I play I am pretty much always a marine. So here are some tips. When you are playing you want to get into a group the more the merrier. Because if you are in a group of 6 or 7 marines not alot can take you out. Your motion tracker can come in very handy at times but two more things is to look and listen. The reason I say this is because 70% of the time what gives an aliens postion away is his/her tail. Predators are seen alot of the time when the sprint or jump from perch to perch. Now as a marine if you see a alien coming at you they are gonna do one of three things. 1 sprint right behind you and stealth kill you. 2 lunge attack you knock you on the ground and exicute you or just keep hitting you till you die. 3 run up the wall onto the ceiling and get you in the head with their tail. One thing that I have found is to stay away from ledges and walls. Turn up your sensitiivty on your mouse. And try to engage your targets from medium range. Now with a predator. 1 they will do the stupid run behind you and stealth kill you thing. 2 lunge attack you and exitute you or just hit you till you die. 3 get you with a spear, plasma or battle disk. Basically do the same thing with aliens. Turn up your sensitivity and engage from medium range. Now moving onto weapons. The weapon I have the most luck with is the Pulse Rifle and the grenades for it. My stradgety for the pulse rifle is spray and pray. Now with the grenades I have found that using them at close range is very effective and hilarious at the same time since it is hard to miss and even if you do miss you still have a chance of knocking your target onto the ground then you cna shoot them. Now with the smartgun I have found that it is best used at medium range because if they are too close they run behind you and kill you. Or if they are too far away they just move behind something and hide. Now with the shotguns I really havent used them very much but a good tactic is when they are about to lunge. 1 just as they are lungeing give them both barrels in the face or chest. 2 block just as they are lungeing counter the attack and when they are on the ground give them both barrels. Now the flamethrower is tricky because if they are too close it doesnt work so well. But it acctually has some surprising range to it. The smartrifle is good for medium and long ranges since it is very accurate. When using it and this aplies to all weapons try to aim for the head because it will do the most damage. Now I am gonna leave out the pistol because I dont use it at all. Another thing to try not saying that this will work alot is when you see an alien or pred come at you block and if they block and it turns into a game of chicken wait till the last moment and start shooting right as you come out of your block because if you are lucky you can catch them off guard and kill them. And what ever you do never stand still in the middle of the open because you can become a spear magnet. If you see a trip mine that was put down by a predator you have three options. 1 find another route. 2 shoot it and it will explode. 3 sprint over it and you should be just fine.
