Although PC users can save the game whenever they want, I'll point out all save crystals for the PlayStation version.

I have to apologise for the fact that a lot of the levels are separated into different parts. Steam only allows a certain amount of characters for each section. :(

Also, please note that some of the images and videos may not be of the best quality. I've tried different kinds of screen-capture software over the years, and didn't really know what I was doing when I first started out! Thank you for your patience. :)

Caves
Level 1 - Caves - 3 secrets and 7 save crystals

OK, after the starting movie clip, you find yourself just inside a pair of huge, stone doors! In front of you, there are some paw prints in the snow. Follow these.

A little way ahead, there are walls on either side with vertical slits all the way along. Keep running and jumping until you are past them, as these slits fire darts! Lara should reach the other side with little or no damage.

As you keep going, you will notice that Lara turns her head to the left...she often looks in the direction she is supposed to go, so keep this in mind. However, for the moment, just keep going the way you are. Follow the path until you come to a large area with an angled stone block in the left corner:



In front of this block is an opening, but it's too high for Lara to grab, so you need to position yourself at the back of the block, jump up and press 'action' to grab the top. Press up so Lara climbs up. As soon as she's up, she'll start sliding, so you'll have to press 'jump' and 'action' to make her grab the edge of the opening:



Climb up and find your first secret, a small medipack (An alternative way to get to the opening is to position yourself in front of the angled block facing the ledge, then flip backwards by pressing 'jump and back', then pressing 'action' so she jumps forward to grab the ledge.)

Jump back down and go back to where Lara looked towards a large opening, now on her right. Climb up the wall and follow the path, drawing your pistols to shoot the bats that appear in front of you. To the left is an opening. Go through it to the opposite corner wall with the snow piled up at the bottom:



Stand as far to the left as you can, facing the wall, then press 'action' and 'up' to climb up. Draw your pistols for another bat. In this cave is the level's second secret, a small medipack.

Drop down and return to the place where you shot the first bats, turning left and carry on until you come to a nice-looking cave covered with greenery. Turn right and you will come to a drop in the floor...drop down and follow the path to a closed door. To the right is a lever set in the wall. Position yourself directly in front of it and press 'action' to pull the lever. The door opens. Go through it, to kill another bat. You'll see a barred wooden door to the right which doesn't open, so you'll have to climb updrawing your pistol through the opening to the far left corner opposite the entrance .

Keep walking until you come to a large room with a path around the topand two wooden bridges spanning from one side of the room to the other. Down below are two wolves which you should be able to pick off with your pistols from above. You need to cross to the other side of the room, so you can follow the upper path and use the bridges until you come to another area off the second bridge.

If you want to save your game now, keep walking until you come to an area with a gap where you will see a save crystal. Walk to the gap by pressing 'forward and R1'. Lara will stop at the edge while the 'walk' button is pressed and won't fall, even if you try and make her. (You can wait until you have completed the next part before you save the game, if you wish.) Hop backwards once by tapping the 'back' button, press 'forward' and then immediately press 'jump', and Lara will jump the gap gracefully!

This next part is optional and only required if you want all of the pick-ups (a small medipack). Look down through the gap and you'll see a bear-pit. There's a bear down there, so you can either drop down and finish it off, or try and do it from above, if you have the patience. To try and draw it out for you to shoot, you could try hanging from the edge of the gap and pulling yourself back up before drawing your pistols and picking it off. (To do this, stand with your back to the edge, push 'back', then immediately press 'action' to hang on. This is called 'drop and grab'. Press 'up' to pull yourself back up.) If you decide to drop down to kill the bear, draw your pistols first and keep jumping around as you shoot until it's dead, which shouldn't take long.

Go out through the door, killing another couple of bats as you continue. You'll come to a small medipack, which is your only reason for coming down here. Pick it up, and notice a discoloured area on the floor, which will open the door nearby when you stand on it. Face the door, step on this area, and then run through the door, as it closes pretty quickly. You'll now find yourself back in the room with the two bridges. Make your way back to where you've just come from, use the save crystal if you haven't already, and continue.

Before you venture down the stairs, go to the left behind the columns and find a small medipack. Now it's time to descend the stairs...as you do so, some scary music starts up and two wolves appear! Shoot them, jumping around and back-flipping by pressing the 'jump' button and the 'direction buttons' at the same time, and hopefully you'll escape more-or-less unhurt!

Now you'll find yourself in a large area covered in vegetation. Behind the columns at the foot of the stairs, there's a ledge covered in foliage that you can reach by running and jumping over to it. You can also get to it by climbing up the stones on either side of the ledge and jumping across. There you'll find a small room...go inside and find the third secret, a large medipack.

Exit the room and jump down. At the other end of the main area is a flight of grey, stone steps, and opposite that an alcove containing yet another small medipack. Pick it up, then turn and climb the steps until you come to a lever. This lever opens the door on the left, but it's timed! To get to it, you'll have to pull the lever, walk to the edge, jump to the low stone below, walk to the edge of this then jump and grab the ledge below the door, pulling yourself up and running through it before it closes. If this is too hard, you can jump to the floor then run around to the ledge below the door and pull yourself up that way.

Run up the stairs ahead, avoiding the wall-darts, and then draw your pistols at the top of the stairs to pick off a wolf hiding to the left of the wall. You'll notice a part of the floor that looks cracked..it is! Stand on it and drop through to the room below. You'll now find yourself in a long room, below which you'll see the wooden door you couldn't open at the beginning! Cool!

Go to the far end of the room you are in until you come to a gap. Jump over and turn left, drawing your pistols to pick off another wolf. Pick up the large medipack AFTER you have killed the wolf. Carry on until you come to a lever. Pull it to open the level-exit doors and then make your way back to where the large medipack was. Jump down, slide to the ground and go through the doors to exit the level!
City of Vilcabamba - Part 1
Level 2 - City of Vilcabamba - 3 secrets and 2 save crystals

In this level you will find a silver key and a gold idol, both of which are needed to open doors.

Right, as soon as you walk through the entrance to the second level, a pack of four wolves pounce! Pick them off by jumping around and shooting until they are all dead.

It’s up to you which direction you take, as the area is really one big square and you’ll eventually end up where you began. You’ll see various doors on the way around, but we’ll ignore them for now. We’ll take the easiest root. Walk forward, enter the passage to the far right of the entrance:



You will need to keep your pistols at the ready at all times, as this area is filled with lurking creatures at every turn! As soon as Lara takes aim, whether you see anything or not, start shooting!

As you are walking, you’ll come across a single wolf that needs to be dispatched! After you have done this, walk as far as you can:



then turn left where you’ll meet three more bats, and another wolf hiding around the corner. A small medipack is hidden amongst the plants.

Turn left and continue forward, keeping those pistols at the ready for five more bats! At the end of the passage, turn left again, and shoot another bat. Towards the end of the passageway, just before the steps, turn left. You’ll have to kill two more bats before returning to the main hallway that leads to the main room with the pool. To the right of the pool are two doorways…go toward the right-hand side one:



inside of which is a bear. Once you approach the doorway, it will come out after you. However, on several occasions, as I've approached the doorway, it's sneaked up behind me! You can either take your chances and try and shoot it out in the open, or run inside the room and climb up onto the platform to shoot it where it can’t reach you! Once this is done, climb up to pick up the small medipack from the top of the platform and then drop back down and return to the pool area.

You’ll need to jump into the pool and swim down the passage until you come to two turnings. Take the right hand turning, swimming up and forward until you can turn left where you’ll see a lever on the wall. Position yourself in front of it and press 'action' to pull it to open a door elsewhere. (Note: you can hold down the action button until she’s in the correct position to pull the lever.)

Once you’ve done this, swim to the opposite side of the room. You will see a lever on the far-left wall. Pull it to open a trapdoor above the lever. Swim up and climb out to find the level’s first secret, a small medipack. Pull the switch to the right of the door and exit the room. Jump into the pool again, this time swimming down the left passage until you come to a room in which a door was opened by the first underwater lever. Inside you’ll find Magnum clips and a small medipack. This is the second secret. Swim back to the main area and climb out.

Stand with your back to the two doors where you shot the bear and look ahead and to the right. You’ll see a door with a switch next to it:



Throw the switch and enter the room.

Climb the stairs and take a running jump across the gap and then stop at the edge. Look down and you’ll see a large room with a cracked ledge. Look ahead to see a wall decorated with skulls. To reach the ledge on that wall, you need to run across the cracked ledge and then jump across to find a large medipack. If you don’t make it, don’t worry…In the wall below and slightly to the left you’ll see a movable block of stone. These blocks almost always stand out as they look slightly different to the fixed ones. To pull/push movable blocks, position yourself directly in front and then press 'action'. Lara will crouch down ready to move it. In this instance, you need to press the 'back' button and Lara will pull out the block. Position the block in front of the skull-ledge and climb up to retrieve the medipack.

Drop down and push the block through its original hole and through into the next room by pressing 'action' and 'forward' several times, then draw your pistol to kill a bat. Continue forward and step up onto the ledge. Collect the silver key and the gold idol from the two alcoves in that area.

Go back to the block you pushed in from the last room and use it to climb onto the platform above it. Kill the two bats then use the save crystal to save your game. (Hint: always save your game facing in the direction you need to go next…this saves confusion if you go back to your game after some time and have forgotten where you are!)

Walk forward to the opening in the wall, and to the left, in a dark area on the ground, you’ll find a large medipack. Pick this up before going through the opening, and hang from the ledge before dropping down into the passage below.

Turn left, walk to the end and follow the passage to the right, to find a locked door which you can now open with the silver key you’ve just picked up. Through the door is another dart-trap which you can avoid by running and jumping to get past! Beyond, you’ll see a red-roofed building with 3 doorways.The walk to this building should be taken with caution, as there are five wolves at various places, so keep that pistol drawn and firing as you make your way through.

The door on the left is open…enter and follow the passage until you come to a room with a pool surrounded by stairs and ledges. Climb the stairs and walk to the edge. Jump forward and press 'action' to grab the ledge before pulling yourself up. You’ll need to position Lara at the corner of this ledge, facing the next platform, using the 'look' button, L1, to make sure you’re in the right position. Then take a running jump across (by standing at the edge, hopping back once, then press forward and jump at the same time) and climb the stairs, killing the bat at the top when you come to another ledge.

Take a running jump across to the next one and continue up the next flight of stairs. Kill another bat, retrieve the small medipack and pull the switch on the wall, which opens another one of the three doors at the front of the building. (Hint: if you are not sure whether a drop is too far for Lara to fall without taking some damage, turn with your back to the edge, tap back and press action to grab, letting her fall from a safer distance. This is called a safety drop.)

Leave the room via the exit door to the right of the lever and safety drop to the grey ledge below, where you’ll find some shotgun shells and another small medipack on the red part of the roof below. Drop down to the ground and enter the door that’s just opened to the right of the building.

Through the door, you’ll come to another pool area with some stairs to the right. Climb them and take a running jump across to the next ledge, pressing 'action' to grab it as it’s a long jump! This is called 'run, jump and grab'. It’s easier to line up if the cracked ledge is not there, so if you’re feeling brave, you can step onto the cracked ledge and then jump back…part of the ledge breaks away enabling you to walk to the edge then run, jump and grab the ledge ahead. Now walk to the edge of that ledge, jump up to grab the ledge above and pull up. Turn around, walk to the edge, grab the next higher ledge and pull up. Ignore the ledges on the other side of the room. Instead turn right and take a running jump to grab the ledge near the doorway.
City of Vilcabamba - Part 2
Once there, a bat appears in the doorway, so draw your pistols straight away. Climb the stairs until you come to another room with a switch which opens the third and final door to the building. Go out through the exit doorway to the left of the switch, and use the save crystal to save your game. You are quite high up, so you’ll need to do a few safety drops to make your way to the ground.

Once there, enter the middle door, but proceed with caution! When you enter, three giant blades begin to swing back and forth, so you’ll need to take each one at a time, running through them as the blades swing away! Ahead is a gate through which you can see a prowling bear! To the right of the gate is a switch. Pull the switch and the floor beneath your feet falls away and you plunge into a pool of water. Swim forward and up and to the right through a small opening about halfway up the wall. Keep swimming until you can surface.

Climb the stairs until you reach a room with another switch which opens the gate to the level-exit door which is off the pool below. Walk to the edge of the room and try to shoot the bear from where you are. You might have to draw it out by hanging from the ledge. If not, you’ll have to jump into the pool, climb out and kill it before it gets you first!

Jump into the pool if you haven't already. Climb out, but before you go through the level-exit doorway with the gold plaque on the wall, head for the stairway to the left of it. Climb to the top where you’ll find a switch…this stops the swinging blades, but as you won’t be going back there, there’s no need to pull it. Turn around so your back is to the switch, and look ahead and to the far-left where you’ll see a doorway. Go through and drop down twice to find some Uzi clips which are the third secret. Go back to the pool the way you came and place the gold idol into the space to the right of the level-exit doorway. Go through it to end the level.

Okay, maybe that wasn’t so hard after all…but give it time!
Lost Valley
Level 3 – Lost Valley – 5 secrets and 3 save crystals

You need to find 3 wheel cogs to fix a machine which will open the way to the next level, as well as the shotgun.

Walk until you come to an open area with a stream dead ahead. Walk to the right and you’ll reach a series of rocks that lead down to a body of water (you can also jump into the water and get down that way), around which two wolves are prowling. It’s easy to pick them off from a safe distance. Climb down to the bottom and find a cave to the right of the stone steps, opposite the waterfall:



Here you’ll find another wolf; kill it and continue on until you come to a wall with an opening above it. To the right is another passage containing three wolves, but unless you’re trying for all the kills, there’s no need to go down there.

Climb up to the opening and keep going until you come to a skeleton and a large medipack. Retrieve it and continue on until you reach the entrance to the valley. This is where it gets dangerous! Drop down and listen carefully and you’ll hear the noise of an animal getting nearer! Then you’ll see a velociraptor charging towards you! Run back to the rocks and climb up so you can shoot it in safety, or just jump around as you shoot...they are not too difficult to kill! As you proceed into the valley, you’ll encounter yet another raptor.

Kill it then start walking further into the valley. You’ll hear some very loud footsteps ahead of you! A huge T-Rex appears, and to shoot him in safety, you can run into a cave set in the right wall near the broken bridge:



and shoot the T-Rex from there as he paces back and forth! You can also take your chances out in the open, taking care not to get cornered by it or letting it grab Lara in it's mouth! Afterwards, if you want all of the kills, run though the aforementioned cave to kill another raptor.

When that’s done, and you’ve calmed down a little, continue forward and drop down from the opening and keep walking across the valley. On your right, you’ll pass a waterfall and stone archway. Go under it and pick off two more raptors. Walk towards the building, but before you get there, look to your right and you’ll see a climbable rock:



Pull up onto it and turn left. Walk to the front and slightly to the edge of the ledge you are on, jump over in a diagonal direction to jump over to the ledge beyond the angled block and then pull yourself up. (This is a tricky section, so it may take more than one attempt to get it right.) Look slightly to the left and see an angled rock with a greenish substance on it. Walk to the left of the ledge you are on and jump to grab the edge of the green rock. Pull up and walk to the left-hand edge again. Take another standing jump to grab the high rock ledge. From there, take a running jump across to the roof of the building. This is the first secret, and it’s a good one, because if you look around you’ll find a large medipack, Magnum clips, Uzi clips and some shotgun shells. When all of these have been collected, you can either go back the way you came or go to the far end of the roof and jump over to the back wall of the valley where you will slide down to the ground.

Go around to the front of the building and enter, where you’ll find a save crystal. You can wait until you’ve found the first cog in the water before you save your game if you like, but there’s another save crystal not far ahead. Swim down and to the right to find it down an underwater passage where you can pick up the cog. Come back, climb out and save your game now, if you didn’t before.

Exit the building and look forward and to the right. You’ll see a lit cave in the wall. Climb up to it and follow the passage to the broken bridge. Here you’ll find another save crystal, and you can either save it here or wait until you have the second cog which is across the bridge. To get across the broken part, do a run, jump and grab. Collect the cog and then save your game if you haven’t already done so, and safety drop from the bridge to the ground.

As you are facing the broken bridge, with the waterfall to your right, look to your left and you’ll see an opening almost hidden by vegetation:



Climb through and follow the passage. You’ll end up on a rock above another raptor which you can kill from where you are. Drop down, follow the passage and climb up the rocks to the right of the pool of water. At the top is the third cog. Collect it and then climb back down, jump into the pool and swim down the passage until you find yourself back in the valley.

Climb out, turn around and you will see a waterfall above the pool out of which you climbed. To the right of this is an opening:



Climb up to it to find the second secret, some shotgun shells. Go back out and look somewhere between the two waterfalls. There are some climbable rocks:



climb up and jump forward and to the right to a ledge*. Walk forward and then jump up to grab the crevice in the wall and shimmy to the right by keeping hold of 'action' and pressing the right direction button. Pull up into the small cave above the waterfall. The cave may appear empty, but head to the back and to the right to find the third secret, Magnum clips and shotgun shells. Climb back down to the ground.

For the next part of the level, you need to make your way back to the beginning, where you first entered the valley, past the skeleton. Climb all the way back up the rocks from where you shot the first two wolves and continue along the stream past the opening at the start of the level. To head upstream, you’re going to have to jump from bank to bank, and if you miss, you’ll find yourself being swept over the waterfall into the body of water where you shot the wolves, and you’ll have to start all over again! All of the jumps are run and jumps, and you need to make sure you angle and line up carefully for each one!

Follow the passageway to the bridge and use the save crystal to save your game. Across the bridge is some machinery with 3 missing cogs. Place your cogs in the spaces by standing in front of them and pressing 'action'. Then pull the switch nearby to start them turning. This machinery moves a gate to shut off the water to the waterfall. Walk to the right edge near the bridge, turn around and drop and grab the edge:



Shimmy left and drop onto a flat rock below. Enter the cave to find the fourth secret, a large medipack.

Jump into the water and swim down to the golden gate. Turn left and climb out onto the right bank, relieving the skeleton of the shotgun before jumping back into the water and swimming along the narrow passage. Come up for full air before diving back under and swimming through a long, narrow passage to a small room through a hole in the ceiling where you’ll find the fifth secret, a small medipack and two lots of shotgun shells. Go through the doorway, safety-drop down, turn right, and jump over the slope into the water far below! (Hint: to dive instead of jump, press 'jump', 'forward' and 'walk' one after the other in fast succession!)

Find a ledge behind the now dry waterfall and climb out to follow the passageway to end the level.

*One time when I jumped to this ledge, I got stuck inside the rock and couldn't get out! I could turn around and shoot my weapon, but I couldn't walk, jump or roll so had to reload my game!
Tomb of Qualopec
Level 4 – Tomb of Qualopec – 3 secrets and 3 save crystals

In this level you will find the first piece of the scion.

Start by following the passage to a large room with a sloped passageway ahead and two doors (to the left and right). At the top of the sloped passageway is a boulder which you can release by walking up the passage and rolling (press the 'roll' button) when you hear the boulder released. Run down the passage and to one side to let the boulder pass you. It ends up in the entrance you have just come from.

If you stand with your back to the level-entrance, the doorway to your left has three gates that need to be raised. The one to your right is closed, but there’s a switch round the right corner from where you are standing that opens it. Once the door is opened, two raptors run through, but you have plenty of space to dispatch them by jumping around as you shoot. Just don’t get cornered! You may want to use your new shotgun, or save the ammo by just using your pistols.

Go through the door you just opened and go forward until you come to an intersection with 4 passageways. Here you’ll find a save crystal, but I’d advise waiting until you return after the first task to save your game. If you look just above each doorway, you’ll see 3 different pictures, a bird, a sun and a face.

Take the right passage (the one with the face) until you come to an area with a movable block…push it twice. Push the next block once to reveal a small passageway. Look at the cracked floor ahead. You are going to have to run over this without stopping as there are blood-stained spikes underneath which will kill Lara instantly! Pull the switch to raise the first of the three gates and then WALK to the edge of the spike-pit and jump and grab over to the other side, returning to the intersection.

You can save your game here, if you wish, then follow the passageway with the bird to a room with a switch. Don’t pull this yet. There’s a room off this area with two large, moveable blocks…drop down into the room. Take the left passageway to emerge on top of the first block. Turn right and notice the opening. Do a standing jump from the edge of the block to grab the ledge and pull up. Make your way as far as you can until you emerge on top of the second block. (Did you hear the noise of a door opening somewhere?)

Again, turn right and jump and grab the opening, continuing until you come to a switch…pull this. This moves the second block further into the big room. Return again to the big room with the two large blocks and find the small ramp that will allow you to climb up to the opening you first entered:



Pull the switch you left earlier to move the first block.

Look to your right…this is the door that opened when you visited the second block. Go through and climb as far as you can until you come out near the second block. Take a running jump over to this and another over to the first block. Notice the spikes on the floor…take another running jump over them to reach the small doorway. Pull the switch you find inside to release the second gate.

To return to the big room, you can take a running jump over the spikes to the floor, or run and jump over to the block and jump down from there. Climb up the small ramp again to the room with the first switch and tackle another raptor that appears from the passageway. Once it’s dead, go back along the passage to the intersection.

Enter the last doorway with the sun picture and proceed until you come to a switch near a cracked floor. The switch is a red-herring…you only want to try and pull this if you want to fall and damage yourself! Instead, step onto the cracked floor then jump back quickly! There is a room below with three wolves ready to pounce! Safety-drop into the room and dispatch them as fast as you can!

Once that’s done, take a look around. You’ll see a ramp at either side and a moveable block at the center-top. This needs to be pulled, and then pushed aside to reveal an opening with another passageway. Follow it, climbing up as far as you can, picking up a small medipack at the bottom of a pit as you go. Pull the switch you find at the end to open the final gate, picking up another small medipack from the corner of the room, then drop through the opening across from the switch to return to the intersection.

Now the passageway with the three gates is accessible. Go through it and use the save crystal. Run and jump past the wall-darts and stop on the second step. Turn to your left and step down close to the dart-pipe. Look up and you’ll see an opening. Climb up into it. The room ahead has a cracked floor with a solid platform in the left corner. Run to it and retrieve the first secret, the shotgun shells (and shotgun if you don't already have it).

Stand with your back to the doorway. If the floor behind you hasn't broken away, jump onto it and then back forward; drop and grab the platform. Shimmy left as far as you can and then drop. Lara should land safely below to pick up some Magnum clips from the floor, which are the second secret. Now turn and WALK through the spikes! If you run, you’ll take serious damage and probably die! Find the clear spot under the exit door and pull up into it by pressing 'action' and 'forward'…do not jump! Do a safety drop back down to the stairs to avoid the wall-darts, or jump from the doorway up the stairs.

Continue up the stairs until you reach the Tomb of Qualapec! Notice a mummy to the left, the exit gate to the right and a pedestal in the centre of the room. The mummy is moving and Lara will aim and kill if her weapon is drawn. It won’t harm you, but goes toward the kill count if you want it! Use your pistols and not the shotgun (to save precious ammo!) and shoot until it falls.

Walk to the pedestal and see the scion piece. Press 'action' to take it…You need to start running toward the exit gate as the room begins to shake and the ceiling starts to collapse! The gate opens as you approach, so run through it down the ramp (the one the boulder rolled from at the beginning), through the first, large room and straight across to the passageway where you first entered the level. Side-step past the boulder and walk back towards the waterfall. Save your game with the save crystal here.

Back at the waterfall, you’ll find Larson (one of Natla’s henchmen) waiting at the other side. Now you have a shootout with him, which ends the level, but if you do it from where you are, you won’t get the the third secret, a medipack and some Magnum clips. So, if you are feeling a bit wimpy, pick him off now, jumping up and down as you shoot him with your pistols, otherwise, jump into the water and look for a tunnel to the right. Swim to a small room and pick up the goodies before returning to the pool.

Now, if you are intent on retrieving every, single pick-up of the game, you can jump back into the water, swim straight ahead and climb out near Larson, (making sure you have enough health for when he starts to shoot), jump over the rocks toward the valley and you’ll come to a steep wall. At the top is a large medipack. (Notice that the way ahead is now blocked off!) Return to the cave opening and keep firing at Larson. When you’ve hit him enough, there’s a cut scene in which Lara confronts the henchman!

He tells Lara that there are more parts to the scion she holds, and another man hired by Natla, called Pierre DuPont is also after them.. After this conversation, Larson goes for his gun but is knocked out by Lara who goes on to the next level!
St. Francis’ Folly - Part 1
Level 5 – St. Francis’ Folly – 4 secrets and 5 save crystals

In this level you are looking for 4 keys that will open the level-exit door.

A small movie begins the level, which sees Lara breaking into Natla’s office where she finds a book revealing the whereabouts of the Tomb of Tihocan, and with it, another part of the scion! Off she travels to St. Francis Folly…

When you first enter the level, you need to draw your pistols as two lions are about to charge! The safest way to pick them off is to climb onto a low platform as soon as you enter and shoot them from there!

From the entrance doorway, continue straight ahead and look to the right where you’ll see a movable block set in a groove in the floor. Stand behind it, with Lara facing the level-entrance, and push it over the omega sign on the floor. This, plus a lever you find later, opens the door that you see when you move the block.

Then pull the block twice onto the other omega sign, to open a door to the back of the room. Go around to the other side and push it so it’s positioned next to the larger block on the left.

Go to the door you just opened, but before you go in, notice a pressure pad on the floor…this closes the door behind you, so before you step onto it, draw your shotgun and wait there for two gorillas to descend from above and kill them from there! (You can either avoid the pressure pad by jumping over it, or use the lever up the right-hand staircase to re-open the door.) Look forward from the doorway and notice a lever…this opens the door you saw when you first pushed the movable block. As soon as you pull the lever, roll and draw weapons for a gorilla that comes charging down the stairs to your right.

Draw your pistols, not the shotgun, and walk cautiously back out of the door! Pierre is waiting for you, but you can’t kill him yet! Stay just outside of the room and keep firing at him as he appears, jumping from side to side and up and down until Lara loses the target…this means he’s gone…for now! You can also just ignore him and carry on with the rest of the level if you don't want to get into another gunfight, but you will need to top up your health as he will still fire at you.

Go back to the movable block in the groove on the floor and climb up it. You need to jump and grab the nearest block. Turn left and take a run, jump and grab over to the next block, pull up, turn left and take a running jump over to the platform ahead! Inside is a room with several angled blocks.

OK, now you have to perform a really tricky jump sequence to grab the ledge above! Don’t expect to do this first time if you are a beginner, but if you do…well done!

Face the wall opposite the door, near the left slope:



Keeping the jump button pressed, jump left, jump again, you should land on the slanted ledge that was originally on your right, and then jump forward and press 'action' to grab the ledge above you! When you get on top of that ledge, turn left. Then put your back to the taller pillar. Jump forward holding in the jump button, Lara will jump backwards after that, and then jump forward again. Grab onto the upper ledge there, and pull up to retrieve the first secret, a large medipack and some shotgun shells. Be careful not to step onto the cracked part of the floor. Get back down via a series of safety drops.

Go back to the entrance and run and jump back to the pillar. Turn right, walk to the edge and jump to the next, then turn left and walk to the edge. Jump to grab the taller pillar ahead and retrieve the large medipack before taking a running jump to the ledge that goes around the top of the building, from the left corner of the block.

Make your way, via a series of running jumps over the gaps, to the door you opened earlier and you’ll see a long slide ahead. At the bottom of the slide, opposite, there is a secret room which is pretty hard to get to, and if you miss, you’ll have to start the whole level again! (Not the PC version as you can save the game where you like, so please save your game before you attempt this if possible.) Stand with your back to the slide and step onto it, holding action as you slide down, to grab the edge when you reach the bottom. Pull up and then let Lara drop back to the slope below, and press jump immediately so she jumps back off the second slope…if all went well you should back-flip off the ramp into the secret room to retrieve the second secret, some shotgun shells and a small medipack:

1. If you miss the secret, you will land in water and must swim forward to a small square opening above…climb out to find the third secret, some shotgun shells. (There’s a crocodile after you, but you should be okay if you keep moving!)

2. If you managed to get to the secret room, drop through a small alcove to a room with a switch. This drains the water, but you don’t want to do that just yet. You may or may not be able to get the croc from the opening in the floor, but if not you can get him later once you have drained the water. Drop into the water and turn around to find the opening above to the third secret, shotgun shells, or the shotgun if you don't already have it.

Return to the room with the switch and pull it now. If you didn’t get the croc earlier, you may be able to get it from where you are now, but if not, jump down and use the shotgun.

Run along the passage to find a stairway on the right hand side…go up and use the save crystal you find at the top. You’ll find yourself in a six-story room with a lot of landings and ledges. In this area are four doors named after four Greek gods…Atlas, Damocles, Neptune and Thor. Behind each door is a key...you need all four to exit the level. This can seem very complicated, but basically, there are four levers, which can be found on the central structure and the ground floor, and these open the four doors. These can be done in any order really, but it’s going to take some time, no matter how you do it!

The switches are all on the large structure in the centre of the room. The doors to each area are around the perimeter of the room. The structure is set out like this:

Fifth level - Neptune door
Fourth level - Thor switch
Third level - Damocles switch and Atlas door
Second level - Thor door
First level - Neptune switch and Damocles door
Ground level - Atlas switch and level exit.

Take a running jump to the central structure…be careful because it’s a long way down! Draw your pistols for three bats. Cross to the opening and drop down to pull the lever that opens the Thor door. Still facing the lever, look to the right and then make sure you have full-health before you proceed! There is a pressure-pad opposite, which opens a secret door far below, but it’s timed!

Turn around and do a side jump to the left landing on the grey pressure pad:



you step off the pad, a timer starts. Now you have to be careful and fast. Run forward and run off of the edge, then when you land, do the same again. After you land the second time, roll and head for the open door in the far wall beneath the ledge you are on. You will have to run of the edge and through the doorway. There will be two bats that attack you once you are inside, but once they are dealt with, you can collect the fourth secret, a large medipack and some Magnum clips.

St. Francis’ Folly - Part 2
There’s a save crystal on the ground floor for you to save your game now, as the next time you come down here will be to exit the level.

Somewhere on the ground floor central pillar is a lever to open the Atlas door. Pull it before climbing the stairs at the side of the room, and jumping to grab the ledge above.

The ledge ahead and slightly to the right:



contains come Magnum clips and another bat. Jump over, kill the bat and retrieve the clips. Turn around and jump back to the other platform, then run, jump and grab the edge of the central structure and pull up. Find and pull the lever for the Neptune door.

If you saved your game below, you might want to leave the save crystal you find here for later. I’ll indicate all of the crystals, but you can decide where you save your game. Jump over to the top of the stairs beside the Damocles door. On the ledge above the door you will find a large medipack.

Go get it and return to the top of the steps and jump over to grab the edge of the central structure and pull up.

Go ahead and to the right and take a running jump over to the ledge with your pistols drawn…roll and kill a couple of bats. Jump back over to the central structure, walk forward and to the right, walk to the edge and jump and grab the opposite ledge. Climb up the blocks to kill two more bats. Turn and jump back to the central structure.

At the other side of the block is another save crystal and a lever to open the Damocles door. To the left, you’ll see a medipack on the ledge opposite. Go and get it by running and jumping there and back and then return to the lever. Climb up onto the block next to it and jump up to grab the ledge above, pulling yourself up. This level contains the Thor switch you pulled earlier! Two bats may appear here.

To kill another bat, take a running jump across to the stairs below and to the left of the first door you came through to reach this area:



Climb the stairs after dispatching the bat!

Run and jump over to the central structure Look ahead to see the Neptune door. Jump over the gap and then run and jump over the next one to reach the door. I hope you’ve saved your game before now! Remember, Neptune was a water god, so be prepared for a swim! Inside the room is a very deep pool. Once you jump in, a strong current will pull you down. At the bottom is a gate, but before you reach this gate, on the left before you get to the bottom, is a hole in the wall with a lever…you need to pull this before going for the gate to collect the first key. If you want, re-surface for a breath of air before going for the key after pulling the lever. (Remember, to pull an underwater lever, position yourself as near to it as possible, then press 'action' quickly several times to get Lara in the position to press it!) Retrieve the key and leave the room, jumping back to the centre structure and dropping down two levels.

You’ll probably find yourself under fire from the dastardly Pierre…he’s at ground level, with a couple of lions! You can possibly get rid of him by using your pistols and jumping up and down to avoid his bullets! He won’t die, he’ll just disappear for a while! However, it may be faster to just ignore him until you reach a lower level and then get rid of him before tackling his beastly friends!

Find the Atlas room and enter cautiously, using your shotgun to kill a gorilla lurking in the doorway! At the other side of the room, there’s a pressure pad which opens the gate near it…run through and to the left, dropping down a small pit to retrieve a small medipack. As you climb out, you’ll see a large ramp ahead, with a boulder at the top, which is released as you walk up the ramp. You can avoid the boulder by running up and grabbing a ledge to the left and pulling up, or (easier) back-flip into the pit you just came from and keeping close to the front edge to let the boulder roll past you.

Climb up on to the ledge to the left of the ramp and retrieve the second key. Go back the way you came to leave the room, jumping back over to the central structure. Turn left and drop down to the next level. Here you find another save crystal which you may want to use before entering the Thor room! (Remember, Thor was associated with thunder and a whopping, big hammer!) If you haven't seen or heard Pierre and the lions before now, you'll hear a beastly growl!

Now, walk down the steps and stop before you enter the room. Notice a large lightning ball on the ceiling…this will start shooting bolts of lightening around the room, striking the dark squares on the floor. Keeping close to the wall and WALKING, turn right then left at the next wall. Notice the dark square on the floor ahead of you…you can either take your chance and run/jump over this (making sure you have full life), or do a roll-dive over it by pressing 'walk', 'jump' and 'forward'. Stop in the next room and notice a huge hammer tied to the ceiling with a thick rope. Underneath the hammer is a pressure pad…you need to stand on this until you hear the rope snap, then run forward a pace or jump back. The hammer falls, and with it a couple of stone blocks. Push one of these over to the ledge to the right of the room and climb up it. Go to the next moveable block on the right of the ledge, climb over it and push it three times before climbing on top of it. Jump and grab the tall pillar and pull up to retrieve the small medipack. Take a run, jump and grab over to the next ledge and pull up. Enter and retrieve the third key. Go back exactly the way you came to exit the room.

Go back to the central structure and drop down to the next level. If you didn’t get rid of Pierre earlier, he may still take pot-shots at you, so try to get rid of him from where you are or run quickly inside the Damocles room to avoid him! Look up to see several swords hanging form the ceiling…they won’t harm you…yet! Go through to the next room and get the fourth key and then climb up to the ledge above to find some goodies, a small medipack and some shotgun shells! Go back, and you’ll have to walk slowly through the next room…there are lots of varying opinions on the best way to proceed, but I just walk slowly, and when I hear a sword falling or see a shadow appear in front of me, I stand still! Try to avoid the shadows on the floor, but it’s impossible not to set off any swords, so just proceed very, very cautiously!

Once you are out, if you haven’t rid yourself of Pierre, now’s the time! Shoot at him until he disappears and then finish off the two lions (or wait until you are at their level!). My daughter has played this level several times and on occasion Pierre hasn't appeared at all! Drop down to ground level and use the keys in the four keyholes next to the level-exit door. Stand in front of the keyholes and press 'action' until you find the correct key for each keyhole.

Once the door is opened, walk through it to the next level!
The Colosseum - Part 1
Level 6 – The Colosseum – 3 secrets and 4 save crystals

For me, this is the most atmospheric level of the game! You are looking for a key to open the level-exit door, but it’s never that easy!

As you enter the level, you’ll see an area with a pool containing a crocodile. Shoot it from above with your pistols, then jump into the water and swim through to the next area. (Hint: even though you have your shotgun, try to save ammo by using your pistols wherever you can if you can do so safely.)

As you surface in the next area, you’ll see a large, derelict building. There is a lion prowling about, but wait for it to go as far as possible from you before climbing out and drawing your shotgun as the lion will charge as soon as you emerge! There’s another lion around the left side of the building, so go that way and kill it before it gets you!

If you want all of the kills, go inside the building opposite the pool, there is a staircase on the left, and even though it has a gate that can’t be opened yet, there’s lion up there that will appear as soon as you start up the stairs, so you’ll need jump around a bit as you shoot, or use your shotgun!

Once that’s done, exit the building and go around the corner to the right to find some climbable rocks. Climb up and jump over to the ledge that runs around the building. Go right around it to pick up a large medipack at the very end, then come back, still on the ledge, and climb up onto the block, turn around and jump and grab the upper ledge, pulling yourself up. When you come to a gap around the corner, take a running jump to get over it. (Or jump and grab the edge.) Carry on to the end of the ledge, then do a right-diagonal jump over to the flat rock ahead. To the left is a cave opening, but before you go in there, look ahead to see a barely visible cave entrance in the wall, slightly to the right of vision:



This is where you are heading now.

Slide down the rocks ahead and walk forward to the far right corner of the flat area. Now you should see a square flat block just ahead and below, a steeply angled block ahead and to the right, and beyond that to the right another flat spot. Take a running jump over the corner of the steeply angled block to the flat spot beyond:



Walk forward to the right corner and then take a standing jump to land near the doorway. Enter and pick up the shotgun shells which are the level's first secret.

To get back, either drop down to the ground and go around the building again, or walk out onto the block in front of the entrance and jump over to the flat ledge. Turn to the right and climb up onto the higher block. From here, take a running jump to the flat block near the first cave entrance.

Enter the cave and you’ll see a pit with two crocs at the bottom. Pick them off then drop down to get the small medipack, then climb back out using the rock in the right corner below the arch. Turn to face right and look up to see a crevice in the rock. Jump up and shimmy to the right. Pull up into a small cave for the second secret of the level…more shotgun shells. Go back and stand with your back to the edge. Drop and grab, shimmying right again until you reach the other side of the pit.

There’s a tunnel on the left…follow it until you come to a gate with a lever. This gate is the one inside the house that you couldn’t get through, and unless you plan on going back outside, there’s no reason to use it.

Instead, turn right and head up the stairs to confront Pierre again. Adopt the usual plan of shooting wildly at him until he disappears!

This part of the Colosseum is the arena, and if you stand on the wall, you may be able to pick off the various beasties with your pistols from where you are. There’s a save crystal in the pit, and if you intend to try for the next couple of kills, you may want to save it here.

The next few steps are for the purpose of collecting one small pickup and making kills only, so skip down to the next part if you are not bothered about this.

Drop down into the arena. Head for the doorway with the sliding ramp:



You will need your shotgun here, as once you slide down, there are two lions waiting for you! There is nothing to pick up down there.

Pull the two levers and exit through the door that’s just opened. You’ll find yourself in the pit. Save your game if you haven’t already done so, and listen to the growls up above! Draw your pistols and jump up and down to see if Lara can get a lock on one of the three lions that are up there! If she does, keep jumping and firing. You can also try to draw the lions to you by climbing up out of the pit and jumping back in again, or if they are far enough away, shoot them from there.

Once you’ve done that, climb out and look for a pile of brown rocks to the far, left corner of the arena. There’s another lion in there, so you can use your shotgun to pick it off, or draw your pistols and keep back-flipping as you shoot to keep out of its reach!

Carry on where the lion came from and you’ll slide down a ramp and into a room with two timed doors and a series of pressure pads, and this is where it gets difficult!

Go to the far side of the room and run to the right and step on the pressure pad to open the gates. Enter the room on the right and get the small medipack, and then step on the pressure pad in here to keep the gate open. Go back close to the first pressure pad outside without stepping on it. Wait for the gates to close then step on it. Run as fast as you can to the room on the left and flip the switch, then do a side jump to the right landing on another pressure pad, as soon as you land do a roll then run as fast as your legs carry you to the next room. If your timing is right, you will be able to enter the far gate in this room just before it closes. If it closes before you get there, you’ll have to start again.

If you do make it, you can now take your time to pull the lever you find in there, which opens the exit door, which is the door to the right of the entrance with the slope. Pick up the small medipack on your way out of the room. Through the exit door, there are spikes and a save crystal…use it! Remember, you have to walk through the spikes and not run, to save Lara’s health.

If you don't want to go through all of the trouble of a difficult timed puzzle, look for the climbable block on the far right of the arena. Near to it is a spike pit. You need to drop and grab the far edge of this, facing the block:



shimmy left, then let go to drop between the spikes below. Lara's shadow should tell you where it's safe to fall:

Through a doorway are some climbable rocks. Climb to the top and right to the back of the rock-pile to find some shotgun shells, and then climb back down to the front of the pile. There’s another pile of rocks ahead which you can reach by taking a running jump from the edge of the furthest block :



Walk to the edge of the rock facing the building, then run, jump and grab over to it and climb up to deal with two gorillas inside the room.
The Colosseum - Part 2
When they are out of the way, look around the room and notice the gate with the keyhole to the right, and a save crystal. You’ll have to come back here later, so you can save your game now or later on, but later on will be practically the end of the level. If you want to save your game here, wait until the next part is finished, so you don’t have to do it again if you have to re-start for whatever reason!

Go to the back of the room to find a movable block and pull it out twice. Pick up the small medipack and pull the lever to open a door in the spectator area. To exit the room, go back to the balcony, jump over to the rock you jumped from earlier, and slide to the ground.

Go to the climbable block past the spike pit (around to the left) and climb up it find the door that’s just opened:



up the steps and to the right. Draw pistols for two bats. Run forward into the pit and wait for a boulder to pass overhead, and then climb out and jump and grab over the pit. There’s a lever in the room at the top of the ramp that opens another door in the arena. When you’ve pulled this, go through the opening at the other side of the room, slide down the ramp backwards, pressing action to hang on at the end, and then safety drop to the floor.

When you leave this room, Pierre and another lion are waiting to ambush you! Go for the lion first, hopping about to avoid Pierre if he starts shooting at you, and then do the same to Pierre to see him off!

Make your way to the door that opened when you pulled the last switch, kill two more bats, then make your way to the main room. Here you’ll find a series of ledges with a door and a switch at the top. The door at the top is timed, but it’s fairly easy to get there, with a bit of practice! This is where you’ll find the third secret, and it’s definitely worth it!

As you enter, put your back to the entrance and sidestep left until Lara is in front of the block on the floor:



You will have to do a running jump forward (keep your finger on the jump button). Once you land, flip right, and when you land on the platform after that, flip back, then do a left flip and then a forward jump. If you did this right you should end up on the platform at the top and be able to run into the secret area up there before the door closes:


Among the goodies in here are the Magnums! Hooray! You'll also find two large medipacks and some Uzi clips. Now wasn't that worth it? :-)

Leave the secret room, turn left, and run and jump over to the switch and pull it before descending, very carefully! Do a safety drop from the platform with the lever, then from the next to the floor. You can also do standing jumps from the middle of each platform to the next one below and make your way down that way. Be wary when you exit the area as Pierre may still be hanging around, either after this room or the next one!

Go to the door you just opened to find another lever. Pull it to open the door near the level-exit. Jump into the water and swim to another room with a small medipack and a movable block. Push the block twice, then pull it from the right to reveal a rusty key. Swim back, and once again, make your way through the arena, killing another gorilla.

You need to get back to the spike pit, drop and grab the far edge of this, facing the block :



shimmy left, and then let go to drop between the spikes below. Lara's shadow should tell you where it's safe to fall:



Climb back up the brown rocks to the balcony with the keyhole.

At the back of the room is the door that you opened with the last lever. Go down and pick up the medipack before using the save crystal. Return to the main room and use the rusty key to open the gate. There are two more gorillas in the arena, but you don’t need to bother with them unless you want all the kills.

In the water is a croc, so you need to avoid it as you jump into the water and swim along the passage to a small opening above and climb up. Kill the croc from there if you want all the kills, pull the lever and swim down the tunnel to end the level.
Palace Midas - Part 1
Level 7 – Palace Midas – 3 secrets and 8 save crystals

In this level you are looking for 3 lead bars, which will only open the level-exit door when they have been turned to gold.

You enter the level through water, so keep swimming until you can surface in a large room with several passageways.

If you want all kills and pickups, climb out and take the passageway behind the gate through which you entered the pool, turn the corner to the right with the staircase climbing upwards…there’s a croc there, so get out your shotgun! Don’t head up the stairs just yet…take the passageway next to it until you reach a large area with several alcoves. Stop at the entrance, draw your shotgun and walk slowly to the left, drawing out two lions, hopefully one at a time! Keep going to the left and around the right corner at the very end to deal with some bats and pick up a medipack…you may be able to hear the crackle of a fire!

Go back toward the entrance and keep going to the end of the room, turn left into the topmost alcove, kill a gorilla and pick up the two sets of magnum clips. Return the way you came.

Head up the staircase behind the gate through which you entered the pool (you passed it earlier if getting the kills and pickups), turning left at the top. Ahead, there’s a large room with lots of tall pillars and 5 levers…behind the pillars are three gorillas…you may be able to pick them off with your pistols if you keep close to the doorway and back-flip as you shoot. (Notice the doors with the various symbols above them?)

At the far right of the room, there’s a low pillar you can climb up. Face the next pillar and take a running jump over to it, then jump and grab to the ledge above the doorway (to the left of the pillar you are on). Walk to the edge of the ledge, then take a run, jump and grab over to the other side to grab some goodies, some Magnum clips and a small medipack! Now you can either go back the way you came, or safety-drop to the floor and go back to the first block and climb up again. Take two running jumps to the next two pillars, then a run, jump and grab to the one after that. Walk to the edge and jump over to the next pillar, then a run, jump and grab to the last one before jumping over to the structure with the levers.

Note: There is a large medipack in this area that you cannot reach without cheating, i.e using the corner wall bug:

Drop down into the gap and pull the lever at the foot of the stairs to open the door to the structure so you don’t have to jump around the pillars again to come back!

Go up the stairs…the levers have to be pulled in different sequences to open the different doors in the room below. The symbols above the doors are upsilons and omegas…the upsilon symbol stands for ‘down’ (D) and the omega symbol stands for ‘up’ (U). So, the levers need to be up or down following the sequence above each door. Each door leads to a task that you need to complete to collect a lead bar.

You can explore any door in any order. We’ll do the hardest first. Okay, go the leftmost lever and set them in this order from left to right: D,U,U,U,U. Facing away from the levers, the door to the left of the structure you are on will now be open. (Notice the symbols above the door and you’ll start to get the idea.)

Enter the room and you’ll see a pool with pillars and torches on the top. Once you step onto the first pillar and cross the line (at the front of the pool), the flames will switch off and you have approx. 10 seconds to get across to the other side! There are three rats in the pool, so get them with your pistols before you go any further. Use the save crystal to the left of the entrance before you start, so you don’t have to start again if you burn to death! Don't worry, you'll find another one at the other end of the room.

Stand just behind the line at the edge of the small walkway in front of the entrance, so you are facing the next pillar. Now, take a running jump, holding both 'run' and 'jump' buttons down, across the pillars, attempting to turn while you are in the air so you land on each pillar facing the way you need to go. For the last pillar, you’ll need to press action while still in the air so you can grab the pillar and pull yourself up, quickly!


You’ll probably have to do this several times, and if you get caught in the flames, jump straight into the water and swim back to the steps to start again, using your medipacks if you need them, but you can always load the game back in if you prefer.

Pick up the first lead bar and use the save crystal before swimming back and returning to the five levers, encountering another gorilla on the way.

For the next door, the switches need to be U,U,D,U,D to open another room. Look to the right of the area entrance to see the door you just opened..

Walk through it to the room with the grey pillars and the spikes on the floor (walk through the spikes), turn right and go through the doorway, find the movable block in the sunken floor area and pull it twice. Go behind it and pull the lever to raise the grey pillars in the spiked room.

Climb the ramp next to the block and use the save crystal at the top. Jump forward on to the first pillar. Going right, run and jump from pillar to pillar until you reach the last one. Walk to the edge, jump over to the opening ahead, then back-flip out immediately, drawing your pistols to save ammo, and shooting the gorilla that was hiding in the room!

Once that’s done, jump back over, retrieve the second lead bar and jump over the spikes to a safe spot on the floor. Return back to the levers.

Pull the levers to match the following sequence: U,U,D,D,U and go through the next open door (this one to the left of the area entrance). This is a large room with a collapsible ceiling. There’s a doorway to the back of the room with some stairs leading down to the right. Go down and pull the movable block you find there to collapse the ceiling in the large room.

Go all the way back up the stairs until you reach the very top. Look below and to the right and see a flat platform…jump over to it then run, jump and grab the broken pillar in the centre of the room, then again to the ledge to the right of the doorway. From there you can jump to the entrance.

Go through and climb up the rocks and use the save crystal at the top to save your game (or you can use it when you’ve finished the next part). Here you’ll find yourself in an aqueduct filled with water. Taking care not to fall through the gap, take out your pistols and shoot the two bats and the two gorillas that are showing off somewhere the ledges ahead!

Jump across and walk around the edge to the right, picking off a couple of crocs in the water, if you can. You may need to draw them out by jumping in the water and climbing back out again! Once they are dead, swim through the tunnel (farthest to the right of the room) and climb out to the right. Climb up the rocks on the left (as you climb out), then walk as far as you can and jump forward twice to land on a rock which you’ll slide down a little. Turn to the left and walk and slide until you come to the first secret of the level, some magnum clips and a small medipack.
Palace Midas - Part 2
Swim back out and return to where you jumped over to the first ledge. Walk to edge to the left, you’ll see a small hole…make sure you have plenty of health, do a safety drop into it to retrieve the second secret, some Uzi clips, shotgun shells and another small medipack. (The two secrets have to be collected in that order, as you can’t get back up through the hole without going all the way around again!)

There’s a gorilla somewhere about…use your pistols and jump up and down until you kill it, then jump out of the pit towards the bottom of the building.

Go forward and pick up a small medipack in the second alcove on the right. The alcove before that one has a ledge from which you can jump over to the adjacent building. Jump across and get out your shotgun or magnums for two gorillas lurking in the alcoves!

Go to the second of last alcove and turn to your right to see the ledges across the huge gap…yes, you have to get over there! Look to see where the large medipack is over the way, and run, jump and grab to get over…you may have to shimmy along a bit to be able to stand up! Grab the medi, then drop and grab the edge again and shimmy along to the left until you can drop on a flat, dark ledge below…roll immediately to kill two bats!

There’s a hallway across the gap…run and jump over there, then proceed all the way until you come to a cracked floor. There’s a large medipack in one alcove. Run across to it, pick it up, then jump or run to safety on the other side of the cracked floor!

There’s a slope just ahead…slide down it, dropping down then climbing down the rocks until you reach a ledge that goes around the pool area where you first entered the level! There’s a lion at the other end making it’s way toward you…get rid of it before proceeding, but be careful not to fall off the ledge!

You’ll eventually come to an opening above the main area. You should be able to kill a couple of gorillas with your pistols from up there! Turn right and take a running jump to the next ledge and enter to find yourself in a cave with a pool. There’s a croc swimming in there…you may be able to get it from there, or your can just swim through and hope to avoid it!

Climb the rocks at the back of the cave to an opening where you will find two bats…kill them then jump across to the temple roof. You’ll find the third lead bar plus a save crystal…use it after you’ve picked up the bar as you won’t be back here again.

There are more beasties, two gorillas and two lions, down below…dispatch them with your pistols from where you are, or drop from the roof and jump onto the rock near the temple and get them from there.

Beside the temple doors is a large medipack…pick it up and go through the doors to a passageway with a switch and another save crystal. Pull the switch to open a gate near the level-entrance, then save your game.

As you leave the temple and to through to the next room (you can take either turning), jump on top of one of the rocks and draw weapons for three more gorillas! However, when I did this one of the gorillas climbed up to me, so it may not make a difference where you shoot them from. :-)

Continue on toward the pool through which you first entered the level, and turn right to come to the gate that you just opened. There are two more gorillas in the garden and you may be able to pick them off with your pistols if you don’t enter immediately.

To the left of the entrance is a wall with a small shrub in front. On this wall is a lever. This opens a gate also on the left-hand wall, but enter cautiously! There are some jagged, metal doors that clang together repeatedly and are deadly! (The secret will register before you go any further, so it's up to you whether you want to pick up the secret items or not.) Between the doors is a cracked floor that will break away onto some spikes. To get past them, you will have to get as close as you can (use the look button and look down to see how close you are), wait until they have just closed, then while they are still opening, jump through them to the other side.

This is where you’ll find the third secret. Pick up all the the medipacks, shotgun shells and Magnum clips (or the Magnum if you don't already have it), then go back through the metal doors the same way.

Now cross the garden to the far right from where you came in and climb up onto the ledge near the corner where the medipack is. You may encounter another gorilla. Jump up to grab the edge of the platform and pull up to pick up a large medipack and enter the passage at the back of the roof.

This is where you find the huge, broken statue of King Midas! Tread carefully to the save crystal, avoiding the large hand, and save your game. Once you’ve saved, jump onto the hand to see what happens! Cool!!!

Okay, load up the game again, stand near to the hand and press action to change each of the lead bars to gold! (If that doesn’t work, go into your menu, select the lead bars and press ‘action’.)

Once you’re finished, exit the area, go past the pool and back up the stairs to the five levers. Set them (left-to-right as usual) to D,U,U,U,D which opens the final door.

This door is under the balcony area where you can see a save crystal. As you near the door, a lion charges…you can use your pistols while back-flipping out of the way, or use your shotgun at closer range to see him off!

Climb right to the top of the stairs and collect some shotgun shells and save your game (although you hardly need to as you are so near the end!). Halfway down the stairs is a doorway on the right with three alcoves where you can set the gold bars. Stand in front of the holes in the wall and press action to set them.

Once this is done, the level-exit door opens in the same room…go through it to leave this level!
The Cistern - Part 1
Level 8 – The Cistern – 3 secrets and 5 save crystals

You are looking for 4 keys that take you through the level, and a gold key to exit (5 keys altogether).

You can do a safety drop to the room below, with your weapons drawn to kill a dirty, great rat! Ugh! The movable block needs to be pushed twice into the next room, and then once to the right to stand under the lever. Pull the lever to open the room door and a trapdoor below. Kill the rats that enter through the door before you jump down and retrieve the large medipack from behind it.

Drop down through the trapdoor beside the block to find yourself in a huge room with several doorways and ledges and a pool of waterat the bottom…This is the Cistern. Have a good look around. (Spooky!) You’re going to be in and out of this area, so try to get your bearings before you start.

Firstly, look to your right to see if you can shoot a couple of rats walking around on the ground floor. There are a couple of crocs in the pool, which you may be able to get from the edge of the ledge you are on.

Also to the right, you'll see a small raised platform…run and jump over to it and kill another rat. Walk down and to the right. There’s a crevice on the wall which you can grab by pressing up and action. Shimmy left until you come to a block with some shotgun shells…Take them and then jump to grab the next crevice and shimmy left until you can drop onto the elevated walkway below.

Turn around and walk to the end of the walkway. Climb up onto the block and use the save crystal to save your game. From the top of the block you are standing on, you can jump to the balcony ahead and climb the stairs with pistols drawn! The charming Pierre is waiting for you, but if you can manage to get behind him while you fire, he will run out of the door and disappear…until the next time!

There’s a lever in here that floods the cistern, but you don’t pull this yet as you have other things to do! Turn right at the entrance and climb the block to the far right of the room. Turn around, jump and grab to the next ledge. Pull yourself up and run, jump and grab to the next high ledge, which has some goodies; a large medipack and some shotgun shells.

Now you need to go back the same way, to the other side of the room, taking a standing jump to the lower ledge to avoid losing life. From that ledge, turn right and step up to the next one, and in the alcove above there is small medipack. Climb up.

There’s an opening above and to the right of the alcove that you may have missed if you don’t know where to look…this is the level’s first secret. Climb all the way up to find some shotgun shells. There’s a slope ahead…when you slide down it, you need to jump just before the end to grab the platform above the slope, where you’ll find more shotgun shells. Pick them up then slide down the slope to get back down.

Make your way to the opening in the floor with the water…and see two rats! See if you can kill them from where you are. You may have to draw them out by jumping over the grating. Once they’re dead, jump into the water and swim through the tunnel. Surface as soon as you can, climb out, then draw your pistols for another rat.

Climb the stairs and run, jump and grab the grey block, then again to the ledge ahead to find the first rusty key.

Keep going to a pit with another two rats…these should be easily dispatched from above. Turn around to stand with your back to the edge, drop, and grab the edge by pressing action, then shimmy left, dropping down to the green floor at the end and slide down the ramp to the main room…you can find another save crystal here.

Drop down, turn left, jump and grab the bridge ahead, turn left and pull up to the next block. Pull up onto the long walkway above the shimmy ledge, making your way back to near where you first started the level. Here you'll find the second rusty key. Pick it up, safety drop down onto the ledge below, make your way to the end, then run and jump back to the ledge you first started from. Walk to the end of the ledge to the right, before taking a standing jump over to the next, or run and jump if you feel safer! Face the first door to the left, then run, jump and grab the ledge in front of it. Set yourself in front of the keyhole and press action to use one of the keys to open the door.

There are two gorillas inside, but they come from somewhere near the back of the room, so you can either pick them off from where you are, or turn left and climb up the ledge behind the door and get them from there. From that ledge, take a running jump over to the next ledge, and draw your pistols to see Pierre off again! (Ooh, he's such a nuisance!) If you jump up and down as you shoot, he may not hit you so much, and he'll eventually disappear again.

When he's gone, run, jump and grab the third ledge, where there's a large medipack, then again to the next ledge. OK, there's a ledge in front of you now, in an opening in the wall ahead. It's not a secret, though there are some goodies there, but the ledge is a bit of a pain to get to! Walk to the edge of the ledge you are on, turn around, walk one step forward, then back-flip onto the ledge :


Pick up the Magnum clips (or the Magnums if you don't already have them). Are you okay? Good...now we can carry on!

Once you've picked everything up, you can run, jump and grab back to the ledge you just flipped over from. Turn around, then run, jump and grab to the wall ahead (above the alcove)...Lara will grab a crevice and you can shimmy along to the right. Drop down and travel as far as you can, stopping after you've slid down the last slope to kill a croc from where you land. Jump down, then climb immediately onto the block where the save crystal is to get another croc! (You may want to use your pistols if you are out of reach of the beasties, to save ammo.) You can either save your game here, or wait until you've done the next little bit.
The Cistern - Part 2
There's a passageway to the right of the slope you came down...with another croc hiding there! You can draw it out by walking down a little way, then back-flipping as you shoot! (You can usually hear the crocs before you see them, which helps a bit!)

There's a large medipack,and another rat, down the passage where the croc just came from. Retrieve it, and climb back onto the block with the save crystal...save your game if you haven't already, climb up the next block, turn around and jump and grab the small ledge ahead. Take a running jump to grab the ledge in the corner, turn right and run and jump to the next ledge. Jump down to the ledge below, turn and jump up to the crevice in the wall, shimmying left until you reach the doorway. Pull up and pull the lever to open the door. There's a spike-trap and two rats below. Shoot the first one, jump over to the opposite ledge, jump over the spikes to the floor and kill the second one.

Carry on until you come to a green, mossy room with a block you can drop down onto. There's another rat you may be able to get from there. Go through into the next room with weapons drawn for another rat. Do NOT drop into the water of you will have to go all the way around again! Climb up the stairs and then up to the next two ledges. Walk to the end, turn right then do a running jump to the ledge below. Climb up the next ledge, then jump and grab to the middle ledge. Jump over to the alcove and pull the lever to open the door below.

The first silver key is behind it, and when you pick it up, the lovable Pierre appears yet again, so as soon as you stand up, roll, draw your pistols and fire until he clears off! (Boy, are you just itching for the showdown!!!) When he's gone, swim through to the next room and climb out. Look around...there are a couple of rats on the ledges above, and a high lever with a door near it. You can't get to the lever yet, but you may be able to get a rat by climbing on one of the blocks and jumping up and down with your pistols.

Jump into the water and follow the next windy passage to the main room...this is where the crocs were swimming at the beginning of the level...you did get them then, didn't you? If not, surface and climb out as fast as you can and kill them from the side. Swim right through to the large area, below where you first entered the level. Under the water is a U-shaped passage with an opening at either end. Swim through one of the openings to find some Magnum clips which are the level's second secret.

Climb out of the water and find the ramp set between two gargoyles:



Climb up to the walkway and back to the balcony:



that leads to the room with the lever to flood the cistern. This is where you first met Pierre in this level. Straight opposite the doorway is a lever set into the wall. Pull the lever then return to the now flooded main room and swim back down and through the passage you came from, back to the room with the high lever. Climb out and kill the rat(s), pick up all the goodies on the ledges (a small medipack, a large medipack and shotgun shells and use the save crystal. Now you can jump back into the water, pull the underwater lever and retrieve the second silver key from behind the door that opens below. Exit back to the main area through the door the opens when you pick up the key, and this time return to the second door (across from the bridge near the beginning of the level) and use the second rusty key to open it.

Jump into the water past the now harmless spikes¹, turn left, swim down...go through the opening on the left, pick up the small medipack and the gold key, then exit through the door that opens.

There's another croc knocking about now, so climb out ASAP, kill it then head over to the ornate balcony with steps leading up to it. Climb up but before you open the door, look to the left. You'll see a block of stone that looks somewhat different to the rest:



...push it, enter the room and walk over to the balcony at the far end of the ramp. Stand with your back to the ramp, as close as you can, flip back and keep hold of the jump button until you reach the balcony. Here you'll find a large medipack and two sets of Magnum clips - the third secret.

Return to the locked door outside and use the two silver keys to unlock it. Climb up onto the block to the right and use the save crystal to save your game. Jump and grab to the ledge above the door through which you entered. Opposite you'll see a ledge with a gold keyhole, but there's a nasty gorilla waiting there! To kill it in relative safety, run and jump over, safety drop to the floor, climb back to the ledge above the door and pick it off from there, using your pistols to save ammo. However, it's easier and more satisfying to whip out the shotgun, run and jump over to the ledge and let him have it!

Once you've used the gold key, the door below opens and two lions emerge...shoot them with your pistols from where you are, or from the ledge above the door, then safety drop down to the floor. Through the door you'll see a large room with a chequered-tiled floor. Some of the tiles are broken and have spike-pits beneath...but there's one at the left corner that conceals a small medipack! Get it if you want all the pick-ups.

I normally just run and jump over the floor to the back of the room as the tiles take a second or two to actually break completely! You'll find a lever there that opens a door to the right...inside are three lions, but there's no need to go in there unless you want all the kills. If you do, pull the switch, climb onto the block and pick them off from there.

Go around to the right of the switch and pull out the movable block, twice. Go around to the side, pull out the block toward the big room as far as you can, then go around and push it once. Climb up it and up to the balcony to kill two rats and collect more goodies, two sets of Magnum clips and another large medipack. Climb back down into the room with the chequered floor and go behind the block you moved to find a pit filled with water...jump into it to exit the level.

¹It's possible to get down here without flooding the cistern, but if you do, you won't be able to get out and will have to load in your game from your last save point or restart the level!
Tomb of Tihocan - Part 1
Level 9 – Tomb of Tihocan – 2 secrets and 5 save crystals

Here you'll find 4 keys and another piece of the scion and have the final showdown with the tenacious Pierre!

Keep swimming forward and down. When you reach the bottom where the silver grate is, turn around and swim toward a lever inside an alcove. This lowers the water level, so pull this then turn around and swim back up to the surface before climbing out and pulling the switch on the wall. This opens a door to the right, which you now proceed through, drawing weapons for a croc!

In this room, you can see a movable block, but you can't pull or push this...it needs to be raised up instead. Climb to the top of the moss-covered steps and drop down the other side. Run and jump over to the green ledge, and from it, climb up the right side of the block at the top of the room, but be careful of the wall darts that start flying past the block! From the right corner, take a running jump over to the next ledge, then another one to the ledge across from the dart-trap. In the alcove is a lever that raises the water level. You need to do this to raise the movable block down below.

Beneath the block that is now raised, there is a small medipack. Retrieve this before climbing onto the block and entering the passageway. When you reach the next opening, you need to swim forward and all the way down until you reach a silver grate and then another lever...pull this to lower the water level once again. Once the water level is lowered, the current is much faster. Swim back up to take a breath of air, then swim back down and forward along a very long tunnel...with the water current now much faster, you will be swept along until you can surface in a room ahead.

Climb out, draw weapons and dispatch another giant rat! Find the movable block and pull it out once so you can climb up it and onto the ledge above. Make your way to the save crystal and save your game now if you wish, or later as you will be coming back here!

Notice the two doorways slightly above...Pierre is lurking inside, so make your way across to the square block near the door on the right, then jump and grab across to enter that door. Use your pistols to see off Pierre by trying to get behind him as you shoot to let him run out of the door, or taking a few shots then retreating back to the doorway once or twice.

Once he's gone, walk down the passageway...hear that ominous clanging? That's the dreaded jagged metal doors! Remember how to tackle these? Walk as close to them as you can, using the look button and looking down at your feet to see how far away you are. Once you are close enough, wait for the second clang as the doors shut together, then roll to get through. You can also press forward once to jump through.

As you continue down the stairs, you'll probably hear the muted grunts of another croc...deal with it before heading into the room to pick up the goodies you find down there: two lots of shotgun shells and one set of Magnum clips. Look closely at the floor for three squares that look slightly different from the rest (in each corner of the room)...if you stand on these in any order, it opens a secret door in the corner of the room. Inside you'll find the level's first secret, but it's a bit of a pain to reach! Inside the room is a ledge up above, where the actual secret is. There's a ramp and three angled blocks. Stand with your back to the ramp, against the lowest block, then flip backwards. Keep hold of the jump button until Lara performs her acrobatics and eventually lands on the ledge (or you may have to grab the ledge) to retrieve a large medipack and some shotgun shells!

Drop back down, climb the stairs you just came from, carefully past the jagged, clanging doors and back into the main pool room. Take a step back from the entrance doorway and jump forward, down onto the block beneath the door and notice the shotgun shells across in the alcove near the large blade. Run, jump and grab the edge of the alcove and pull yourself up to retrieve them before proceeding to the next doorway. If you didn't save your game earlier, you'll have to do it now, but to get back, you'll have to stand to the right of the ledge, facing the blade, then as soon as it begins to swing away to the left, take a run, jump and grab over to the door ledge!

Follow the passageway until you come to a hole above a moss-covered room. Turn so your back is toward the ledge, drop and grab the ledge and shimmy along until you can pull up to a small passage with a lever...pull this to flood the moss-covered room. Drop into the water and surface immediately. Swim to the rectangular opening at the end of the water passage and climb out, drawing pistols for another rat.

Proceed to the end of the passage and jump into the water, swimming down then up and through a winding passageway until you come to a room with spikes on the floor. Climb out and draw weapons for a lion. Find the U-shaped passageway with the lever and pull it to open a door to a small room above, which also contains a couple of gorillas. Return to the main room and climb up to the save crystal to save your game. From there, you should be able to kill the apes with your pistols.

Jump over to grab the doorway where the apes were and pull yourself up, and walk to the edge, being careful not to fall off onto the spikes below! Jump over to grab the crevice near the door and shimmy right to pull yourself into the room to retrieve a large medipack and a gold key. Jump over the spikes back down to the room.

Climb through the alcove and look in the pool room to find the gold keyhole. Use the key to raise the blocks in the pool. Run and jump over each block, then jump over to the door, retrieving the small medipack on the right before entering.

Now you'll find yourself in a room with several locked doors and movable blocks. Notice also the door higher up the wall, forward and to the left of the entrance. There are four pressure pads on the floor to the left, that open various doors once a movable block is pulled/pushed onto them. You can do these in any order, but there's usually something nasty inside of each door, so as soon as you have placed a block on a pressure pad, climb up it and draw pistols! The movable block is tucked between two pillars. The door set up in the wall can be reached by jumping from the block, but there's another set of jagged, clanging doors which you need to negotiate carefully!

I usually do them in this order:

1) Pull the block twice onto the first pressure pad. Jump up onto it and draw weapons for an angry gorilla that comes from the door that opens, near the room entrance. Inside the room are some shotgun shells and Magnum clips.

2) Push the block onto the pressure pad nearest the door high up on the wall. Jump and grab over to it then proceed carefully. Jump or roll through the jagged doors as they are opening to get through. Pick up the first rusty key and the large medipack inside the room. Get back carefully through the doors and proceed with caution as there may be another gorilla waiting for you down below!

3) Pull the block back twice onto the next pressure pad to open another door and release four rats. Get rid of them from the top of the block then enter the room they came from to pick up the small medipack in there. For some reason, the fourth rat didn't appear until I'd exited this room...what a fright! :-(

4) Pull the block onto the last pressure pad. The next door contains a boulder trap. Ignore the small medipack on the floor, run past it and into the alcove with the second rusty key. The boulders should then roll past so you can pick up the key and the medipack in peace.

These keys can now be used to open the door into the next area. However, to the right of the locked door is another door that is now open. Go in to pick up the shotgun shells before continuing.
Tomb of Tihocan - Part 2
Open the door with the rusty keys, and use the save crystal. Okay, now for the level's second secret...which seem to get harder and harder to retrieve, don't you think? (Alternative method below.) Before you slide down the long ramp, stand to the right of the doorway, facing the ramp and turn slightly to the left. Jump forward, keeping hold of the jump key as Lara jumps around the rocks, to eventually land in a doorway. Ahead is a room with five cracked floor tiles and an alcove at the opposite end.

Stand facing forward in the middle of the doorway, standing almost at the edge. Keeping your finger on the jump button, jump forward, left, forward, forward, right, forward...if you've done this right, Lara should land in the alcove to retrieve the goodies, Magnum clips and Uzi clips. You won't be harmed if you do fall, but if you want to have another try for the secret, you'll have to load in the game again.

Alternative Method

However, the above method is long-winded and difficult. If you want a quick and easy way to get this secret, simply stand at the entrance as far to the right wall as you can, hop back, then jump and grab the first floor tile. Pull up, run and jump and grab to the floor before the alcove, pull up and run into the alcove to pick up the secret. Much simpler. The floors won't break away until you pull up onto them.

Now you can drop down and climb out of the room to slide down to land in a lake. There's a croc here, so don't dawdle! Swim forward until you come to a small gray platform. Climb out and deal with the croc before entering the passageway behind.

Climb up the rocks until you reach a high gap, over which you'll see a switch. To get to it, you'll have to climb the block with slopes at either side, slide down the back, facing backwards, and press action to grab the edge. Climb back up and immediately press jump to back-flip to the ledge behind. Climb up to flip the switch to open an underwater door elsewhere:


You can also just slide forwards down the slope and jump forward to grab the ledge ahead. Jump into the water below, turn around and swim to the right and through a winding tunnel. This brings you out to the other side of the lake where you'll see dry land and a temple with two centaur statues on either side. You'll also see a save crystal to the left, but don't climb out yet. Still in the water, face the centaur on the right of the door and swim down, then ahead and slightly to the left, and you'll see a small opening:



It's difficult to spot, so look carefully. Through the opening is a passage leading to the door you opened from above...swim through, surface, pull the lever and use the save crystal you find there.

Swim back to the temple and climb out on the LEFT side, to where the save crystal is. You can either save your game now or wait until you've battled the centaurs. If you're not bothered about all the kills, you can just save your game and run into the temple as the centaur on the left comes to life, which it does when you approach the temple doors! If you want to battle it, approach carefully, then back-flip out of the way, shooting constantly, jumping out of the way when it fires it's fireballs; it's actually not too difficult. Once it's gone, save the game and enter the building and turn left. (You can avoid fighting with these altogether as they don't actually follow you into the temple, so you can just run past them and hope for the best.)

Okay, now we come to the final showdown with Pierre (at long last!). He's waiting inside for you, so draw your Magnums and keep moving while you shoot! Once he's down, relieve him of his Magnums (which only count as a pick-up...you don't actually end up with them unless you haven't picked them up earlier), the gold key and the second piece of the scion.*

If you were too much of a wuss to take on the centaurs outside, you may be able to get them from the doorway, but the fireballs they shoot out are lethal and have a wide range! You can hear them clip-clopping around but you are safe as long as you don't go near the doorway. If you managed to take out one, the other will come to life as you proceed to the outer door. I find it's easier to run outside and do battle there as there's much more space to move around.

Back inside the building, you can climb up to the ledge around the top of the room by using the blocks on the ground. Up there you'll find 2 sets of Magnum clips and another large medipack on the balconies at either side of the room. Still up there, use the gold key in the lock you find and drop down to enter the door that opens...This is the door to Tihocan's Tomb and the end of the level.

Now you'll see a clip of Lara reading the hieroglyphics on the wall, giving you a little info on who Tihocan was!

*Please note there is a bug in the PlayStation game. If you don't pick up the stuff Pierre drops before you save the game, once you re-load, the items will be gone, leaving you without a way to end the level. Pick up the items, then save your game.
City of Khamoon - Part 1
Level 10 – City of Khamoon – 3 secrets and 4 save crystals

Here you'll find two sapphire keys - one to enter the second part of the level, and one for the level-exit.

First is another clip - in this you find out about the scion and what happened to smash it into three pieces that each end up in different parts of the earth. One part ended up (where else?) in Egypt, so enters Lara biking across the desert in search of it!

At the start of the level walk forward toward the pit, turn around, and drop and hang from the ledge, then again to the crevice below. Shimmy right, drop, and pull the lever. Enter the door that opens below, pull out the movable block three times, then retrieve the goodies from behind it: a small medipack and some Magnum clips. There's another movable block in the alcove above. Climb out of the trench and pull the second block once. Climb onto the first block and pull the second block until it's in the room and you can go around and push it over to the far wall, using it to climb up the pillar. Then jump up and grab the crevice, shimmying right to pull up when you can.

There's a panther in the cave ahead, and these take a little more killing than the beasties you've met so far, but you should be OK with your pistols for the moment. The ledge above the opening contains more Magnum clips and another small medipack, so climb up and retrieve them before dropping back down and making your way towards the sphinx. This is where the game gets a little more creepy...as you walk forward, notice a movement ahead...this is the game's first real and dangerous mummy! I normally use the Magnums here! These bandaged monsters can move fast!

Once you've dealt with the mummy, slide down towards the sphinx and dive into the pool to retrieve two lots of Magnum clips from the bottom. There's more ammo at the top of the pillar in the center of the pool, so climb out near the palm tree, climb up the stepped wall covered in foliage to the left to take a run, jump and grab to the pillar:



Pick up the shotgun shells then dive back into the water, climbing out near the sphinx.

There's a movable block in front of it...climb up and around the sphinx to the back to find some shotgun shells, the first sapphire key and a save crystal. Pick up the key, save the game and go back down to the movable block. Stand in front of it and pull it out to reveal a door that you can open with the key you just picked up. Follow the path to find a room that has a passage with pharaoh statues down either side. Climb up quickly to find a small medipack, and a panther lurking around the bottom! Kill it then carry on to the far end of the room. There's a sloping hallway to the right once you reach there, and a panther waiting to pounce...proceed carefully until it emerges, with weapons drawn, and back-flip as you shoot until it's dispatched.

Walk up the hallway and turn left to come to a save crystal before a large room with a temple next to a pool of water. There's a croc down below, which you can get from above, before saving your game if you wish. Drop down to see a long passageway beneath where you were just standing. Along there you'll find a large medipack. Retrieve it and come back.

To the right, you'll see a ramp, at the top of which is a boulder. You need to set this boulder away now instead of later when it may squash you! Either run up the ramp or jump up backwards until you hear it release, then either run down and to the side, or side-flip off the ramp to avoid it.

Follow the boulder path and pass it to the far, right corner. Go as far as you can, then jump up the slope. Down and to the left of this:



is a dark place containing some Magnum clips and a large medipack - the level's first secret. Retrieve them and climb back out.

Jump into the pool back in the main area and follow the passage to a lever. This opens a nearby door, but once pulled, you need to swim through and climb out as fast as you can to avoid another croc! Kill it from there before climbing up to the above walkway. Here you'll find another save crystal, which you can use now or wait until you've completed the next part. There's also a movable block there. Pull it twice towards the steps, climb up then jump and grab the ledge, pulling up and climbing the stairs. Turn around and look up to find another opening...pull up into it and pull the lever you find there. This extends a ledge above the room with the pool.

Go back down to the movable block on the walkway and push it twice further towards the steps. Go to the right and pull it once, then climb over it and push it once. Now you should save your game if you haven't already...trust me!

Climb up onto the block you've just moved, then run, jump and grab the ledge beyond, where you'll find another movable block. Behind this block is an opening leading to a room, but there's a horrible mummy waiting inside, so you can either take your chance in the room with it, or push the block, hop back to the edge and safety drop down, climb up onto the first block and try to pick at it from there. (Note that in the PC game the mummy may not be here.) These things take some getting rid of, so it's up to you how you deal with it!

Once it's dealt with, enter the room and pull the lever to open a trap door in the ledge that's just been extended. Return back to the block outside of the small room and push it once more and climb on top of it. Run and jump over to the extended ledge and pull up into the opening and pull the lever:



This opens the trapdoors in the temple back in the main room.

Walk through the opening above the main room and jump to the stone ledge on the left. Walk to the other side of it then run and jump over to the stone ledge beyond. Near the pillar, you'll find some Magnum clips which you can retrieve before you slide down the sloped ledge to find a large small medipack. To the right of where you are standing is a brown ledge. Run, jump and grab over to it, and then run and jump over to the blue, stone ledge ahead:

At the front, right corner of the roof, you'll find an angled block. Climb up onto it and line up with the ornament in the room opposite and above:



Run and jump over to the ledge above the door where the ramp with the boulder was. This is the second secret, Uzi clips. Safety drop down onto the ramp to find yourself back in the main room with the temple. (Now you see why you had to get rid of the boulder first!)
City of Khamoon - Part 2
Head towards the temple and drop down through the trapdoor you opened onto the blue block at one end. At one corner with the sandy-coloured floor tile is a spike-pit, so avoid that and head through the other doorway. Pick up the Magnum clips then drop down. Turn left and enter the alcove to pull the lever to open a trapdoor in the room above. Use the save crystal and draw pistols for a couple of panthers in the room below. Before you drop down, you can find some more Magnum clips in the alcove behind the cat statue.

You can safety drop down to the room below, but once you do so, a door to the right opens to release two more panthers, so choose your weapons! There's a block at the far side of the room which you can climb on for safety, or just jump around as you shoot (which you can't do very well with the shotgun, although the shotgun is the fastest way to dispatch them if you decide to stay on floor level!)

Go through the doorway that just released the panthers to find another large medipack, then climb up onto the block in the main room. Pull up to the ledge above, the cross the bridge to the pillar. Another door opens below to release another couple of panthers, and you can either pick them off from where you are or go back down to the block you just climbed up from. Once you've done that, go around the pillar across the bridge, run, jump and grab the left-hand ledge with the cat statue, behind which you'll find some shotgun shells in the alcove which is the third secret. Safety drop down and enter the second door that held the panthers to find a small medipack before climbing back up onto the stone block.

Now you can enter the passage beyond the block, opposite the bridge. There's another mummy at the end, and if you stay in the passage you'll have a lot less room to manoeuvre, so if you can, run past it into the large room beyond and fight it from there. Just keep moving and/or use the shotgun until it explodes!

Look around the room and see an reachable opening above. Go through it and follow the passage to find a sandy room containing a pedestal with the second sapphire key! Take it and climb up the sand piles, continuing until you come out above the passage with all the Pharaoh statues! VERY CAREFULLY jump across the ledges, making sure you line up properly before each jump, as you'll have to go all the way around again if you fall! Pick up the Magnum clips, make your way across to the lever, and pull it to open a trapdoor that releases a load of sand into the room you've just come from!

Jump back across the ledges, turn the corner to the sandy room, safety drop down and slide down the slope, and run up the slope next to that one to reach a room with the level-exit doors! Use the sapphire key to go through and exit the level.

Obelisk of Khamoon - Part 1
Level 11 – Obelisk of Khamoon – 3 secrets and 7 save crystals

The end of this level is the beginning of the previous level! You're looking for four artefacts on four bridges that all need to be opened via a series of dangerous tasks! :-(

Turn right, descend the stairs then climb up to the doorway on the left. Jump down the other side and follow the passage as far as you can. There's a door on the left that you can't open, so enter the one on the right to find a room with four movable blocks and a golden door up above. Take a look through the windows and you'll see a tall column. At the top of this column are the four bridges you need to lower to reach the artefacts.

Okay, in the room you are in now, there's only one block you really need to move, but there are kills and pick-ups behind the rest, so it's up to you if you want to do them or not! If not, just miss out the first three blocks and go straight to the fourth!:



Block #1: The first block is opposite the room entrance. Pull out the block two or three times, enter the passage, roll and run back to the block, jump up it and draw pistols for another black panther! Up the passageway from where it emerged, you'll find a small medipack. Once you've retrieved this, move the block under the golden door above.

Block #2: This has a panther behind it but no goodies. However, if you want the kill, do this in the same way as the first one.

Block #3: Move this and enter the passageway beyond. There's an opening in the floor that leads to another room below with another panther. Drop and grab the ledge to draw it out, then climb back up and kill it from there, preferably with your pistols to save ammo. Drop down, slide down the angled block and pull the lever to open the door above. Ascend the stairs, climb the block, pick up a small medipack and then pull up to the ledge above. Climb up to the highest block, run and jump to the doorway ahead and pick up the Magnum clips from behind the open door by jumping over the gap in the floor. Drop down into the opening to find yourself back in the main room.

Block #4: Move this to find a small passage with an opening filled with water. Jump in and swim as far as you can, climbing out quickly as soon as possible as there's a croc on your tail! Kill the croc from one of the ledges. Jump in again and find some Magnum clips and a small medipack on the bottom of the pool. You'll also find a sapphire key and a save crystal among the ledges...save your game and return the way you came.

Make your way back until you come to the keyhole you passed at the beginning and use the sapphire key to open the door to the room with the tall column with the four bridges. You'll now find that the high, golden door in the room with the four blocks is open, so, if you've not already done so, pull one of the movable blocks in the room under the doorway to climb up and go through, using the save crystal you find there. In the next room you'll find another mummy...run past it, roll and get out whatever weapons you like and kill it before it kills you, pausing for medipacks when needed! Lara takes a lot of damage from these things, so keep moving!

Find the lever in the left-hand window to lower the first bridge to allow access to the Eye of Horus, the first artefact. Go now through the right-hand window to retrieve it and you'll see a clip of an underwater door somewhere below. At the bottom of the pool of water there are some Uzi clips...jump into the water and swim down to retrieve them, then climb out onto the ledge around the column to find some shotgun shells.

Look around to see the door you opened from above...opposite this are some alcoves. Go to the right-hand one to find a doorway:



Enter and slide down the ramp. Before you drop down into the next room, pick off the two panthers that are prowling about, using your pistols to save ammo. Once they're dead, jump down and climb the stairs. From the top step, jump up to grab the ledge above. Take a running jump to the next pillar. Turn around and run, jump and grab to the next ledge. Walk forward and pull up onto the ledge above that one, then run and jump across the next three to land on the platform above the doorway. Drop down and pick up the large medipack.

Now, unless your are suicidal or completely mad...DO NOT GO DOWN INTO THE ROOM BELOW!!! All that's down there are two mummies waiting to take a piece of you, but if you really want all the kills, hang and drop from the doorway, pull back up and pick them off from where you are, or just slide down the ramp, roll and jump into one of the alcoves behind the ramp to finish them off in relative safety!

Climb up into the right alcove facing the large room:



and jump over to the ledge on the right.. Run, jump and grab over to the next ledge, pull up onto the block, then run, jump and grab to the next one. Pull up onto the ledge above and turn around. Run and jump over to the ledge that was behind you as you climbed up, then pull up onto the grey block. Run and jump over to the one to the diagonal right. Run, jump and grab the block to the right of the stairs and pull up, then save your game. Do all of this very carefully...believe me, you do not want to end up falling down into the mummy room if you didn't kill them earlier! Walk down one step then pull up onto the next ledge. Now a mummy at the top of the stairs awakens! Jump back to the steps and kill it from there, or pull out your shotgun and three blasts should do it!

To the left of the stairs, at the bottom, there's a ledge covered with ivy. Pull the lever you find there to lower the second bridge to access the Ankh..the second artefact. Turn left, step down, drop down onto the ledge with the fence. Pick up the small medipack and two sets of Magnum clips (or one set and the Magnum if you don't already have it), then climb back up near the lever. Climb to the top of the stairs and you'll come to another door that you can't open yet, and an opening in the floor. Drop through, slide down the ramp and draw weapons! The two openings ahead are connected, and there's a panther hiding, so advance carefully and back out shooting as it emerges! There are some more Magnum clips in the passage where it came from.
Obelisk of Khamoon - Part 2
Come out and find the switch in the right-hand alcove. This changes the bottom slope into steps. Go up four of them and jump across to the ledge on the left. Retrieve the shotgun shells and jump back, climb two more steps and drop down to the ledge below to use the save crystal. Go through the doorway and find yourself on a ledge in the room with the column and the four bridges. Climb the stairs to your right, retrieving the large medipack on the way up, and pull the lever at the top. This changes the next slope into steps, but you have something to do before you go back there.

Jump down onto the ledge below the switch and go through the door. Turn left, climb the stairs and climb down the blocks to the room below. There are two more mummies in there, so just drop to the floor from the last block, then immediately pull yourself back up and get them from there. Climb back up the blocks, jump to grab the right-hand ledge and shimmy right and pull up. Climb up to the ledge and go behind the pillar where you'll find a room containing the first secret: a large medipack and some Magnum clips. Exit towards the other side of the pillar and run and jump over the next three ledges to find more shotgun shells at the end of the last, long one.

Make your way back to the gap across the first two ledges, turn around and then drop and grab to the next two ledges, ignoring the open doorway on the way down. Drop and grab from the second one, then shimmy right until you reach the corner. Drop, turn, drop and grab again, shimmying right to the next corner. Drop, turn and run, jump and grab the block to the right of the doorway (the one with the save crystal if you are playing the PlayStation version), pull up and go through. Here you'll find yourself on another ledge with a fence over the room with the four bridges. Pull the lever to lower the third bridge to provide access to the Scarab, the third artefact. Use the save crystal and return back through the doorway.

Run and jump over to the corner ledge to the opposite-right of the doorway, and drop down to the room with the sarcophagus. This is where you killed the last two mummies, and I'll bet you're now glad you did! :-) Go to the other side, climb up the blocks and exit the same way you entered.

Now you can cross the bridge to pick up the Scarab, and jump across two bridges to retrieve the Ankh. Walk across the bridge you are now on, turn left and go to the end of the ledge with the missing part of the fence. Jump over and you'll re-enter the room with the slopes that have now turned to steps. Climb the block-type steps, turn right and run, jump and grab the crevice, shimmying right to drop down onto the golden blocks below. Go round the other side, drop down and pull another lever in the room beyond. This turns yet another slope into steps. At the top of those steps is a room with another mummy, so be ready with your weapon of choice.

Climb into the room, pick up the small medipack behind the ornament in the open area, and pull the two levers. One lowers the final bridge leading to the Seal of Anubis, the fourth artefact, and the other opens the golden door. Use the save crystal and go through the golden door to get to the room at the top of the stairs.

Walk down the stairs back to the ivy-covered ledge and walk past the three pillars to see a block sticking out towards the obelisk. Run and jump over to it, but don't grab! The camera angle goes a bit weird here, but it's okay as long as you line the jump up properly. This is the second secret: a small medipack and Uzi clips. Now, you are going to have to do a running jump down to the pillar below with the silver ornament on it. Make sure you have enough health as you'll take some damage, but this is the third secret, so go for it to find a large medipack and two sets of Uzi clips.

Drop down onto the walkway in front of the bridge leading to the Eye of Horus artefact. Jump over the bridges to the far side to get the Seal of Anubis, and now you'll see a clip of the underwater door opening! Jump into the water and swim through the door. On the left, in the second alcove, you'll find a set of Magnum clips. Get those and resurface for air if you need to. Swim down again and forward to the third set of alcoves. Here you'll find shotgun shells and a small medipack. Continue forward, past the alcoves and turning right at the end, swimming forward until you can surface within a pool that has more goodies at the bottom of it: a small medipack, shotgun shells and some Magnum clips.

There's another mummy in this area, and you can either climb out and use your shotgun or lure it to the side of the room opposite the climbable ledge near the doorway. To do this, stay in the pool and when the mummy comes toward you, swim under the water and emerge near the doorway, climbing the ledge and shooting it from safety. When it's gone, pick up the 2 sets of Magnum clips from the climbable ledge, use the save crystal and go through the doorway. Follow the passage, past the statue room to another room. Kill the mummy below from where you are before dropping down and picking up the large medipack on a block at the other side of the room and climbing up to the small, ivy-covered doorway set up in the wall opposite the entrance door. Go through it and find yourself back at the beginning of the previous level. Climb down, go to the little room between the paws of the sphinx to retrieve some magically appearing shotgun shells! (Has someone else been here???)

Place all of the artefacts you picked up from the four bridges in the pillar. It has a place for each one. This will open the level exit door on the opposite side of the area. Go through it to end the level.
Sanctuary of the Scion - Part 1
Level 12 – Sanctuary of the Scion – 1 secrets and 7 save crystals

Here you will find a key, 2 Ankhs and a Scarab to make your way through the level to find the final piece of the scion!

Go down the stairs and through the doorway. Pick up the Magnum clips you find to the right and left of the door through which you entered. You can't get through the closed gates yet, but you'll be coming back later! Start up the stairs, and draw weapons for two mutants that run down toward you! (You will encounter quite a few mutants in this level, and they all shoot fireballs and other weapons, some of which as quite a long-range, so keep moving when you come across any!) You'll probably need something more powerful than your pistols, but that will allow you to keep back-flipping and side-flipping as you fire...do this until they explode, then enter the room at the top. There are some more Magnum clips in the dark place to the far-right.

See the blocks ahead...these lead to an opening that brings you out on top of a Sphinx in a large, open area. Climb up, roll and cross to the left shoulder of the Sphinx:



and drop down to a ledge beneath. Down below is another mutant, so ready weapons and keep moving as it shoots fireballs! When it's gone, jump down onto the Sphinx's paw and then to the ground below. Pick up the Magnum clips between the paws then look opposite the left paw to see a climbable, light-coloured block:



Climb up, then jump over to the angled block on the right, then run, jump and grab over to the next. From this one, climb up onto the next block to find yourself opposite the Sphinx. As you are facing the wall, there's a higher block to your left:



Face it so you can jump and grab the side to pull yourself up. Climb up the next one, then find some more Magnum clips on the one to the right.

Make your way over to the gold lever to the left:



by jumping over the blocks and using the save crystal on the way. The lever opens a door below, but when you pull it, turn immediately to see a flying mutant approaching from the Sphinx! You should be able to dispose of it before it reaches you and knocks you off the ledge! If the mutant explodes near Lara, she'll take some damage, so make sure you have enough health!

As you face the switch, there's a ledge over to the left...jump over to it and pick up the shotgun shells, then run, jump and grab the next higher ledge to find even more shotgun shells! Run and jump over to the next ledge and look ahead and to the left to see the golden door:



Before you go there, turn to face the side of the Sphinx, head-on (directly north). Now, trust me on this next part! Look ahead to see some goodies apparently floating in mid-air! Stand facing slightly to the left of these goodies and take a run, jump and grab into the middle of nowhere! Lara will grab an invisible platform upon which is located the first and only secret of the level...the long-awaited Uzis!!! Make sure you keep the walk button pressed as you walk around up here to make sure Lara doesn't fall off. See my video on how to do this here:


You now have the chance to use your new weapons as two more flying mutants move in from the other side of the sphinx! Get rid of them, then you can start to make the descent by facing the rock wall and taking a run, jump and grab to the lower left side of the ledge you jumped over from:



being careful to line yourself up at the edge of the invisible platform, then hopping back before taking the jump. Once over, drop to the flat ledge beneath and then to the ground.

Face the front of the sphinx and walk to the left. There's a series of pillars of different sizes with one low enough to climb up:



From there, run and jump over to the next one, then pull up to the one above that. Run, jump and grab to the next one ahead, then turn and run and jump over to the high one. Pull up onto the ledge up above. Walk forward then right, using the save crystal you find there before continuing carefully! There's a jagged door trap ahead that you need to jump or roll through by standing as close as you can and using the look button and looking down to determine when Lara is close enough. When through, pick up a medipack and follow the path to the lever, jumping the gap before you get there. Pull it to open the golden door up in the cliff.

Dispatch another mutant that flies in towards you, then do a standing jump from the edge down to the ledge with the medipack, pick it up then do a safety drop from the side closest to the sphinx where you'll slide to the ground.

Go around to face the sphinx from where you land. Make your way right around to the left of the sphinx. You'll see a door, beside which are some magnum clips. Pick them up, then enter, coming to a slope with a pool below. You need to slide down backwards so you can grab the edge of the slope and shimmy left to drop onto a ledge with some Magnum clips. Pick them up, then climb up to the opening above.

Climb up the stone steps and turn left at the first opening. Climb down and jump into the pool you find there to retrieve the gold key from the bottom. Climb out and back up the steps, keep turning left until you come to a ramp. Slide forward and jump before you reach the bottom to grab the edge of the bridge ahead. Try and do this first time, or you'll have to climb up again! :-)

Cross the bridge and use the gold key to open the door at the end, but be very careful as there's a centaur inside! He shoots balls of fire at you, so take one or two steps into the room until Lara aims at it, step back and keep shooting with the action button pressed down so she fires at it automatically when it comes into range! When it's gone, enter and pick up the medipack and the first Ankh from the pedestal and then use the save crystal.

Now exit and jump into the water, climb out and climb the stone steps again, turning right this time to descend the steps to the pool at the bottom. Jump in and climb out the other side (the opening to the left of the one you just came through), climb the steps and turn left. Return to the area of the sphinx near it's left paw and pull up onto the climbable block you climbed before, the light-coloured one opposite the sphinx:



Turn right and jump and grab the next one, pull up, turn around and jump and grab to the ledge ahead and pull up. Walk forward, turn left and pick up some Magnum clips.
Sanctuary of the Scion - Part 2
Stand facing slightly left to jump over the gap, then forward until you come to another gap...jump over to the left and continue forward, as though going toward the back of the large cave. Jump over yet another gap and then climb the stone blocks to the right. Jump over to the opening ahead, continue and turn left to climb two more stone blocks. Jump to the right in a diagonal direction and climb up to the golden door where you'll find another save crystal.

Once inside, walk right to find a moveable block (it should be easily identifiable from the rest). Push it through to the other side. Walk around and climb up the block you just pushed to reach the ledge above. There's a room ahead with another centaur inside...dispatch it the same way you did the last one, then enter and pick up a medipack and the second Ankh.

Exit back through the gold door and slide down the ramp to the right, drawing weapons for another mutant! Pick up the large medipack then jump down onto the back of the sphinx. There's an angled block to the right, from which you can run, jump and grab a ledge at the back of the head:



Climb to the top of the head and place both the Ankh artefacts in the places set there for them, one there where you are and one at the other side and below, where the ledge with the save crystal is. Once they are set, save your game and climb down to the door that's just opened, between the paws of the sphinx.

Inside is an underground lake containing two submerged statues. Swim down between them and pick up some Uzi clips and some shotgun shells on the left statue. There are two doors and a lever on the right statue, but the lever is a type that can't be pulled underwater. Come up for air, then swim down a small tunnel between the feet of the statue on the right where you'll find a lever that can be pulled. It's set on the wall to the right of the gold door. This lever empties some of the water from the lake and drags Lara to an area where she can then surface.

Climb out and up onto the lowest pillar, then jump and grab to the next, diagonally to the left. From there run, jump and grab the bottom of the stairway, climb the stairs and follow the ledge. You'll see another flying mutant making his way up towards you...dispatch him from there before sliding down the slope.

Use the save crystal, then jump down to the ledge below and to the left of the doorway from where you entered. Turn around and run, jump and grab the head of the next statue. Climb up and pick up a medipack you can find embedded in its right ear (left if your back is to the lake). You may not be able to see it, but you can stand inside the ear to pick it up:



Run and jump down the nose of the statue (you won't be able to run off it as Lara will just spring back up!) and Lara will end up in the water again. Climb up to the right and pull the now available lever to open the door at the bottom of the left statue. Swim through it, surface and follow the very long and winding passage as far as you can, picking up two sets of Magnum clips and another save crystal on the way. There's a scarab artefact at the top, near the gate you saw at the beginning of the level. Beyond this gate is the stairway with another centaur and two more mutants. Once you pick up the Scarab, the gate will open to release them!

To dispatch them fairly safely, once the gate is open, roll and run down the passage to where the bend is, then wait for them to appear before back-flipping down the ramp (not quite halfway down) and trying to get them from there. The centaur will stay in the room for now, so when the two mutants are dead, go back to attract his attention then back-flip about halfway down the passage once Lara has a target-lock on it, shooting until it explodes!

After this, walk through the room at the bottom of the stairs and use the scarab to open the gate. Go through, pick up the large medipack and the Magnum clips and then slide down the slope. There's a window ahead which you now climb through, but first, cast your mind back to the Lost Valley and the confrontation with Natla's goon, Larson...No, Lara didn't kill him, he was only stunned, and he's now back for revenge! Once you enter, he'll emerge from the right, shooting for all he's worth! Get out your weapons of choice and keep jumping around as you fire, making sure you don't let him get behind you! Once the battle is over, climb the stairs, take the final piece of the Scion and prepare for a movie clip!

Natla and some of her henchmen appear, grab Lara, steal her weapons and the Scion, and then Natla orders Lara to be killed! Of course, the indomitable hero is no match for mere assassins, so she struggles clear and throws herself off the edge of the cliff, trails the baddies on her motorbike which she conveniently finds, climbs aboard their boat and follows them......
Natla's Mines - Part 1
Level 13 – Natla's Mines – 3 secrets and 7 save crystals

In this level, you need to find your weapons, three fuses and a key.

Hint: When you find yourself trapped by a boulder in any level of the game, try standing as close to it as possible and to the side, and side flipping to see if you can get over it that way...sometimes this works for my daughter, but I've never been able to do it, yet! :-(

Swim forward until you can surface in an underground lake. Looking around you can see a couple of ledges to the left with barrels and crates, and a waterfall to the right. Swim under the waterfall, surface and find a lever down the passage and on the left of the wider area. Pull it to open a gate somewhere before swimming back to the lake.

Climb out on the ledge with the barrels and crates and follow the passage until you come to a mining car blocking another tunnel entrance, and a moveable crate:



Pull it out and climb over it to find the gate you just opened, and pull the lever you find there to open another gate. Return to the lake, jump in and swim under the waterfall again. Past the first lever is another gate, the one you just opened. Go through it to come to a ledge above the lake. Run and jump across to the ledge with the barricades and continue on until you reach a room with a glass-walled room and a small building hanging from the ceiling! As you pass it, Lara looks up toward it. There is a large medipack on the floor in the cave.

In the glass-walled room are three places for fuses to fit into, some Magnum clips, and a save crystal which you can use if you wish. Opposite the entrance you just came through is an opening. Go through to find yourself in an area with several objects including a moveable crate, some tyres, a gate and an opening to the left. Move the crate toward the building until it's directly underneath an opening in the ceiling of the cave:



Climb up and run and jump over to the nearest building and drop down through the broken area of the roof and continue until you reach another lever. When you pull it, a boat on the lake moves toward a ledge. Continue on until you reach the opening above the crate you just moved...if the crate wasn't positioned beneath the opening, Lara would take some damage!

Now for a tricky boulder trap! Approach the gate set between the two buildings:



As you near, it opens and you come to an area with some mine tracks, barricades and the boulder-trap. Move forward toward the first barricade to trigger the first boulder from the side. Step back and turn right to grab the ledge beside the mine track. Shimmy left until you reach the part of the ledge that starts to slope down before you pull up:



Turn left, continue, jump over the gap, walk through the tunnel at the end to find the first fuse and a save crystal. This is tricky, but if you make a mistake and trigger the second boulder, which will cut off the way you need to go, and you need to do it again, follow the tunnel you can find at the top of the second boulder slope, make your way back and start again as everything resets when you go back through the gate.

Walk up the ramp and forward to the left slope then jump back to avoid another boulder. Turn to face left, with the boulder behind and to the right, then flip right then back left..(hopefully, you will avoid the next boulder as it starts to roll when you flipped to the right!). Walk up the ramp to the opening in the floor and drop down. Walk toward the crossroad, then turn right. The boulder above will now roll down the ramp, so you can now climb up to where it was, turn left and follow the passage to an opening in the floor. Drop down, go up the boulder ramp once it's rolled past, and return to the lake through the room with the hanging building.

Swim across the lake and climb up onto the boat that moved when you pulled the last lever, then run and jump over to the smaller ledge with the boxes that you couldn't reach before. Climb up and over the box to the left to find a small room filled with crates bearing the legend 'Natla Technologies'. In the alcove are some Magnum clips.. pick them up then find the moveable crate and pull it toward you. Now go round and push it into the alcove where the ammo was. Now you'll see another moveable block..pull it twice, then go to its right and pull it again to reveal an opening. Enter and pull the switch to move the mining cart that was blocking the tunnel you entered near the start of the level.

Return and swim left to the next ledge to the area you just cleared of the mining cart. Go through the now accessible tunnel and push the moveable box twice. Go around it and WALK to the entrance to pick up the second fuse you can see lying there...if you go any further, you'll be sorry! There's a hostile cowboy just waiting for you to run in! Go back to the box you just moved and climb up and into the opening above. Pick up the Uzi clips and pull the lever to open another gate to a conveyor belt and another fuse.

Go back to the lake and under the waterfall, past the room with the hanging building and back to the room with the tyres and other objects. Just past the tyres is an opening to the left...go through it and follow the passage, through the now open gate where you'll find more Uzi clips and another lever. Pull it to start the conveyor belt moving to deposit the third fuse on the floor which you can now retrieve. Now you have all three fuses which can be fitted into their appropriate places in the glass-walled room! This lowers the hanging building inside of which you can find your pistols! (Hooray!) Note: You may have to select them from the inventory before you can draw them!

Once you have your pistols, climb on top of the building then run, jump and grab the opening in the wall beyond. A few steps into the passage, look to the right and up and you should see an opening in the wall. Climb into it and continue until you reach another slope. This has a lava pit underneath a trapdoor which will open as soon as you begin sliding down the slope. Slide down backwards, pressing 'Action' to grab the edge at the end. As you pull up, a trapdoor behind you will close, so you can stand on it and climb onto the right ledge and drop down to the room ahead. This is the first secret of the level...more Uzi clips and a large medipack. Pull the lever and go through the door it opens, drop down onto the trapdoor, jump up the slope, follow the tunnel to reach a save crystal on a ledge above the lake. Save your game, swim across and climb out onto the ledge with the barrels again.
Natla's Mines - Part 2
Remember the cave past the mine cart where you picked up the ammo from the entrance? There's a nasty cowboy inside waiting for you, which is why you didn't enter earlier without your pistols! As you enter the cave with the cowboy, he starts taunting you before emerging from the right with some Magnums. You can stay within the doorway, jumping back and forward until he's dead, or you can try running and jumping about the room he's in, but minding the lava pits! Now you can take his Magnums and feel like you are REALLY armed!

At the edge of the room and below is a river of lava...go to the right and look down to see a small, square ledge with a save crystal. Do a safety drop onto it and save your game. To get to the ledge below, drop and hang from the one you are on, drop again and press action immediately to grab the one beneath. Pull up and pick up the small medipack. Grab the crevice in the wall and shimmy right to the end and drop down to the rock below. Walk around the left corner and grab the crevice in that wall and shimmy along to drop onto another ledge. Turn right to face a wall with a ledge above another crevice...run, jump and grab the ledge, then drop and press action to grab the crevice below. Shimmy right and drop down. Continue along until you come to a slope. Slide down and turn right to come out near the river of lava. There's a block in the middle of the lava-fall...jump to it, then take a series of running jumps* to the block in front of an opening in the cave wall:



where there's a moveable block and another boulder trap. Run and jump into the cave. You need to run forward to the block and push it forward quickly to avoid it, then enter the room behind. Pull the crate to the side to reveal an opening above that leads you to the second secret. Pull up into the opening and turn around and jump over into the small cave. Pick up the large medipack and Uzi clips then jump over the hole in the floor and follow the passage. Drop down and follow the boulder tracks to find Uzi clips, a large medipack and the shotgun.

Return back the way you came to the small cave where the secret was and drop down the opening on the right of the cave to the other side of the boulder. Stand in the doorway, then take a running jump over to the tall pillar in the lava, then do a few more running jumps to get over to the other side of the lava river from where you entered, drop down and go through the doorway there. Slide down the sloping path to land on a small ledge. Walk to the edge then do a standing jump and grab to the opposite edge. Continue on to find yourself in a cave with several boxes marked 'TNT'.

There's a moveable box in the far-right corner, slightly darker than the rest. You need to move this through the doorway into the next room and directly under the opening high up on the left wall:



Climb up and jump to grab the opening, pull up and go up the slope, using the save crystal on the way. Climb up the rocks and take a running jump over to one of the ledges above the lava pit. Stay there for a bit, as a boulder will come hurtling past! Run and jump over to the other side of the pit and follow the passage to come out at the other side of the lava river from where you battled with the cowboy earlier!

Follow the ledge all the way up to the lever on the right, pick up some ammo and pull the lever to blow some of the TNT boxes in the last room. Make your way back, slide down the slope and return back to the room where you placed the TNT box. When you set off the explosives, it brought down one of the walls. Climb over the rubble and get ready to tackle a marauding skateboarder! You're mad at him because he's firing at you with YOUR Uzis! Advance slowly into the room, wait until Lara aims, then jump back and forth firing as you do so, keeping a close eye on Lara's health. Once he's dead, take back your weapons.

At the entrance where you came in, turn left, walk, then run and jump across the lava and pick up some Uzi clips, turn right and walk forward until you come to a pit filled with water. Jump in and swim through the automatic gate to retrieve the third secret...a small medipack, a large medipack and some Uzi clips. Swim back as though you were returning, but if you look past the doorway and up, there's an opening in the ceiling. Swim up and climb out, follow the passage to find yourself above the room where you shot the skateboarder. Drop down and pick up all the ammo you can find...make sure you look around carefully as there are two lots of Uzi clips! Leave via the exit at the top of the ramps, where you'll find another save crystal on the way.

Ahead of you and to the right, you'll see a ramp with three boulders at the top. To set them all rolling safely, walk up the CENTRE of the slope, flip right when the first boulder is released, then flip left to avoid the second, and back to the right to avoid the last one. Walk to the top of the ramp, avoiding another boulder that rolls down the passage ahead from the left, then turn left to where it rolled down from. Keep going, turn left and pull up to find yourself in a large cave with lots of ledges and blocks. Find the climbable block and climb up, then do a series of jump and grabs to the one below the opening above, and climb up.

In this room, you'll have to perform fairly complicated sequences of pushing and pulling the various blocks to reach levers to open various doors. As you are standing in the opening to the room, there's a moveable block that can be pushed twice into the next room. To the right of that is an opening in the ceiling. Climb up above to find another block which you have to pull once, then go around and push once to reveal an opening. Go through it to a room with a gold door and an opening in the floor. Drop down and pull the block you find there once. Climb back through the ceiling, through the next room and back down through the opening in the floor. Go back to the first block you pushed and push it once more to reveal an alcove with a lever and a gold door. Pull the lever and use the save crystal. The lever you just used opens the gold door in the room above, so return back there through the ceiling. Enter through the gold door and turn right, continuing to a left turn where you'll see some steps and another block. Go down and push it once. Beyond is a passage with several alcoves and another gold door at the end. The door can be opened by treading on a certain spot on the floor, but instead, go to the last alcove and pull the lever there to open the first gold door where the save crystal was. Return back there and go through the door you just opened.

You now find yourself outside near the pyramid, but there's a bad guy with a shotgun waiting for you! Draw weapons and run past him if you can as it's easier to shoot him in the open area as you can jump around while you do so! Because he's got a shotgun, be prepared to take some damage and make sure you have enough medipacks in case he nicks you! When he's gone take the shotgun (or just shells if you already have it) and walk down to the pyramid.

Climb up onto the ledge above the door and do a series of jumps up the side where the flat ledges are on the left. At the top, jump to the left to slide down the side of the pyramid to land in front of a cave entrance. Inside is a lever that opens two gold doors back where the baddie with the shotgun was. Slide down to the ground and return to that area, and enter the gold door on the right. Here you'll find some more Uzi clips and a large medipack, and a bit farther in, the pyramid key. Pick it up, take it to the door of the pyramid and use it to exit the level.

*Only jump to the blocks with the sandy-coloured tops.
Atlantis - Part 1
Level 14 – Atlantis – 3 secrets and 7 save crystals

In this level, you're heading for a confrontation with Natla...!

As you walk forward, the area lights up and you can pick up some Uzi clips lying on the ground. Now you have to enter the next room very cautiously...there are six huge eggs around the room, each with one of Natla's mutants inside ready to hatch! (I found this level quite hair-raising!) As you move through the level, you'll encounter quite a few of these mutant eggs...as they are about to hatch, they start to quiver which gives you a second or two to prepare for battle!

As you walk forward, the first egg on the left hatches and a mutant leaps out spitting poison! Flip back to the doorway as you shoot to keep out of range! As you walk into the room and to the right, the first egg on that side hatches, and the mutant that emerges shoots balls of fire, so once again flip into the doorway to shoot it!

As you walk down the centre of the room, you'll see some Uzi clips on the far side of the room, on the ground, but as you approach it, yet another poison-spitting mutant emerges, so keep out of range by jumping around as you shoot. When you've done, pick up the clips and go toward the left-hand door which opens automatically. Climb the stairs and pick up a small medipack in the far left corner of the floor, which is safe to walk on, despite appearances!

Walk onto the walkway in the middle of the area and another mutant hatches down below. You should be able to kill it before it reaches you, but if not, you'll have to be careful to avoid the fireballs and the gaps in the floor as you tackle it!

When it's gone, pick up the shotgun shells on the walkway and continue to the far right corner (from where you entered) to a lever. Pull it to open a door at the other side of the room, which itself contains another lever to open a door in another corner. Pull that and walk back toward the alcove with the first lever, turn right on the walkway in front of the alcove and walk forward. Another mutant is released from below, so deal with it in the same way as the last one. Cross the bridge and walk along the left side (where you picked up the small medipack) to release the remaining mutant, which will come at you up the stairs! Stay where you are and shoot it as it approaches, backflipping as needed.

On that same side is a now open doorway...walk down the stairs to find another lever. Pull it to open another door downstairs then continue down through the door that opens. Go forward, then right to the door you just opened with the lever and enter. Now you'll find yourself on a ledge above a huge pool of lava! Up above is a mutant, but you should have plenty of time to dispatch it before it reaches you. Turn and drop and grab the edge of the ledge, let go and press 'Action' to grab the one below. Pull up and enter the opening to find the first secret, a large medipack, Magnum clips and Uzi clips. Walk forward and up and drop through the hole in the floor to find yourself in another passageway. There are some jagged doors here, but you don't need to tackle these...go the other way!

Now you'll find yourself in a room with another lava pool and a bridge with a gap in the middle, where you'll see another mutant egg. Walk to the right of the bridge and jump to grab the crevice in the wall. Drop and press action to grab the doorway ledge below and pull up. Continue to a lever to open a door at the other side of the bridge. Keep going, pick up the two sets of Uzi clips on the ground and jump forward onto the bridge. As you run, jump and grab to the other side of the bridge, the mutant egg hatches to release another mutant, but you don't need to bother about this unless you want all the kills. Just head for the open doorway and use the save crystal in the passageway.

Keep going to a room with a pool. Have a good look around. The red door at the far right is the exit door. You'll need to cross this way twice, very cautiously! There are spikes and boulder traps in here, so line up any jumps carefully before you proceed! If you fall into the water, you can climb out using the low block to the right. The first jumps have to be made fairly quickly to avoid boulders.

Okay, run, jump and grab the pillar ahead. Run and jump from here to the flat spot on the wall nearest to you. As you do so, a boulder is released from above, so jump to the next flat ledge up and the right of the one you are on. Turn slightly so you're standing at a slight upwards angle, hop back, then run and jump forward so Lara slides down the side and lands on another ledge near a spike pit. If you've done this right, you should now be facing upwards so you can jump to the next ledge on the right immediately to avoid another boulder.

Face right and jump to the next ledge slightly above you. Take two more jumps across the next two ledges and climb up into the opening above for the second secret, again a large medipack, Magnum clips and Uzi clips. Pick up everything and exit to slide down the wall near the door below. Run, jump and grab over the water to the steps, pull up and take a step up to the right. Run, jump and grab the pillar ahead to pick up a large medipack. Run, jump and grab to the next pillar and enter the room with the lever. Pick up the two sets of Uzi clips and pull the lever to change the layout of the pool room so you can reach the red door.

Jump into the water and look for a lever between the steps and the tall pillar. This opens a timed door, so it may take some practice to get there. When you pull the lever, you need to turn and swim towards the low ledge near the entrance, then climb out and up onto the block. Run and jump to the flat ledge across the spikes so you are facing the wall with the door that you opened with the lever. Then step back, run and jump across to land on the flat ledge near the second set of spikes. Run and jump toward the wall, turn and run through the door as fast as you can! If you fall into the water or miss the door, you'll have to start over again with the lever! Here is my video to show how it's done:

Stand facing the walkway opposite the entrance and run, jump and grab to the left-hand side of it. Follow this to the end and run and jump to the next doorway and use the save crystal. Follow the passage, over the spike pit, to the top and jump into the pool. If you swim forward and down you'll find some shotgun shells and a lever to open the opposite door. Swim through it and climb out. Pick up the two sets of Uzi clips as you walk forward, passing the clanging blades which then start to operate. Now you're back in the tall room with the lava pool beneath. Run, jump and grab to the ledge on the right and ready weapons for another flying mutant! Pick up the two sets of Uzi clips on the ledge and enter through the doorway.

Climb the short slope and jump into the water, swimming forward and down until you reach four pillars under the water. Behind the first one you come to on the right is a small medipack...pick it up and climb out into a room with four mutant eggs and five levers, three of which are needed to open three doors under the water. There's also a save crystal, so save your game before you continue, if you wish, or wait until you have opened all the doors.
Atlantis - Part 2
Stand so the wall with the three levers is to your right, and pull the one nearest to you (on the left.). There's a ramp between the switches on the opposite wall...walk up it to pick up two lots of Uzi clips, then continue around to pull the lever on the other side (not the one in the middle, yet). After you pull the middle lever, one of the mutant eggs starts to quiver, and you can either battle with the mutant or jump straight into the water and swim through the doors you just opened. You can stay and pull the remaining levers if you want all the kills.

When you surface, you can follow a passage until you come to a weird-looking area with walls that look alive and pulsating! Turn to the right to find a lever, and pull it. Step inside and pick up the two sets of Uzi clips, then walk forward to trigger a boulder that rolls down and effectively blocks your way through! There's a moveable block at the bottom of the ramp...pull it once then go around and push it against the wall, so when the boulder rolls down again, it can't get past the block! Go back to the weird tunnel and pull the lever again to reset the trap. This time, the boulder stops at the block and you can get through the doorway.

Keep going until you find yourself once again in the tall room with the lava pool at the bottom. Ready weapons for another flying mutant, then jump to the ledge diagonally and to the right. Inside this passage is another save crystal. Along the passage is a room with two mutant eggs and a slope with spikes near the bottom. Walk ahead slowly to release one of the mutants, kill it from the doorway, then do the same with the second.

Part of the floor opposite, the red part, is pulsating like the walls in the passage you just came from. Stand facing this on the opposite slope and slide down, making sure you jump over the spikes at the bottom. At the top are some goodies...shotgun shells, two sets of Uzi clips and a large medipack. Pick them up then follow the live passage to a ledge overlooking another lava pool. Notice the mutant egg on the left and the bride across the middle of the area. There are some Uzi clips in front of you...as you approach it, a mutant flies up toward you...take it out then pick up the ammo. Go back and stand facing the mutant egg near the entrance, then jump in a left-diagonal direction to the ledge over the way, then jump over to the next ledge in front of the egg. This will release the mutant. Kill it from the doorway, then turn left on the ledge and follow the passage, picking up more Uzi clips along the way.

There's a light brown ledge just off the bridge...run and jump over to it, walk forward and stand facing the wall you just jumped from. In the cave to the left are two mutants. One fires balls of fire, the other one spits poison...get a lock and fire, taking great care not to fall down! (If you step to the left, you may be out of range and can shoot from relative safety!)

Turn and face the wall with the lever at the top of the ramp. Run and jump over to the ledge on that side. Pick up the two sets of Uzi clips on the ramp and pull the lever. Return to where you jumped across, walk forward, run and jump over the gap and find the moveable block. Pull this to find a door that opened with the lever you just pulled. Enter, and when you reach the clanging blades, stand as close as possible and either jump or roll through them just as they start to open. (See our hints and tips section for help with this.) Turn right then run and jump to the cave where you killed the two mutants earlier. Climb up the slope and turn left to find three climbable blocks...climb up and pick up the small medipack and Uzi clips in the passage beyond. Keep going to find yourself in the lava room again, with another flying mutant to deal with!

Run and jump over to the next ledge, enter the doorway and use the save crystal in the room beyond. Walk to the edge, and run and jump over to the walkway ahead. Follow the passage and pull the lever. This changes the pillars in the other room. Return and jump back to the walkway near the doorway. Walk forward and left, and run and jump to the nearest pillar, jump to the left pillar, run and jump to the higher pillar near the door, then stand at the edge, jump and press action to land in the doorway.

Down this passage is another lever to change the pillars again. Exit to the doorway, jump to the pillar on the left, run and jump to the next, turn left and jump across to the next, run and jump to the doorway and go down the passage on the left.

There are three mutants in the next room...attract their attention by walking forward then go back to the doorway and kill them from there. On the floor of the passage you just came from are some floor tiles...stand on the one without the gold pattern. This opens a secret door at the top right of the ramp where you just killed the mutants. Inside this door is the third secret - Uzi clips, shotgun shells and a large medipack. Pick up everything, exit and go through the door on the right.

As you go towards the tunnel and the automatic door, you'll see a lever on the right just ahead. This is a red-herring and does nothing but release the lava into the hallway, so pull it at your peril! Look up to the ceiling in front of the first door to see an opening above...climb up and follow the path to the large lava room again. No flying mutant this time, so jump over to the right ledge and pick up the two lots of Uzi clips before proceeding.

As you go toward the Uzi clips on the floor in the next room, you'll see a mutant on the opposite side..kill it before you pick up the ammo. At the bottom of the ramp is a dart trap and at the top, sharp blades and a boulder! Stand facing the ramp and run along the right wall, or run and jump to avoid the darts. Turn at the corner, pull up onto the ramp then drop back down straight away as the boulder rumbles past! Climb back up onto the ramp and go to the top.

The next room contains three thrones and a save crystal, so you can save your game now if you want. The three thrones are engraved with three initials donating three Atlantean rulers...Natla, Tihocan and Qualapec. Look closely at Natla's throne..the seating area is a moveable block that you can push twice to reveal an opening. Turn right and you'll come to a red door with two levers and trapdoors at either side. Both trapdoors take you to the same place, but both are quite tricky.
Atlantis - Part 3
Left lever: Pull this and immediately jump back. Turn and drop and hang from the trapdoor opening, drop to the floor, jump immediately over the spikes and walk up the ramp, turning left at the top.

Right lever: Pull the lever, fall down, turn, jump over the lava pit, immediately flip back to avoid a boulder, jump back across and go forward then left.

Climb up through the opening and pull the lever which opens the red door between the levers above. Continue up to reach the throne room again and return to the red door you just opened. Go up the ramp to the right with weapons drawn..In the next room is an egg from which a centaur emerges. Jump around while shooting as it shoots balls of fire at you. When it's gone, retrieve the four sets of Uzi clips near the entrance.

On the left side next to the empty mutant egg is a lever...this opens the door to the exit, but also causes two more mutant eggs to start moving! They won't actually hatch unless you stand on the fleshy-looking ramps near the door, otherwise you'll have to dispatch these and two more mutants in the next area! Go through the door and use the save crystal. Slide down the ramp with weapons and full-health and jump around while you shoot at them, then deal with the two up the ramp if you set them free earlier!

This next part of the game is wonderfully weird! Go toward the middle of the room. In here there's a mutant that's a mirror image of Lara! It does everything she does, so don't shoot at it! It does need to be dealt with though, so you're going to have to lure it into a trap before you can exit this area! (I was fascinated by this mutant, and had a bit of a play around in this area to see how the mutant reacted to everything Lara did!)

Face away from the entrance and walk around the tall column on the right to climb up a ramp and then up onto a block. Turn around, walk to the edge and jump over to the tall block ahead. Run and jump to the platform beyond to find a lever and a trapdoor. The lever is timed (around 40 seconds), so you have to act quickly! Pull the lever, roll, run past the door, slide down the slanting block to the ground, run forward, climb up the block ahead, run and jump to the tall block, and the same again to the platform to the middle where the trapdoor should be on the other platform where the mutant will now be. If you've done this right, the mutant should now have fallen through the trapdoor and the exit door near it should have opened.

Make your way to the door and pull up into the next room, picking up the Uzi clips lying there. There's another centaur around the next bend, so advance cautiously until it sees you, then back-flip down the passage and do a series of side-flipping jumps as you fire until it explodes to avoid its deadly fireballs! At the bend, there are more Uzi clips, and in the next room another mutant! Take it out then have a look around. There's an elevated path above with a timed lever at either end. The right one opens the exit door, and the left one raises the bridge. Near the left lever are more Uzi clips...pick them up and run to the lever at the other end to open the door, then run back and pull the other lever to raise the bridge (you can jump over the curves in the path to save time). When you've done that, make your way as fast as you can to the bride and cross to enter the next room. Pick up the two lots of Uzi clips on the floor, then cross to take the scion to exit the level.

Now a movie clip is shown in which you see why Natla is a bit miffed with Qualapec and Tihocan. Then Lara grapples with Natla, first verbally, then physically, ending with them both over the edge of the pit...Lara manages to grab the edge, but Natla is not so lucky!

So begins the countdown.....!
The Great Pyramid - Part 1
Level 15 – The Great Pyramid – 3 secrets and 4 save crystals

In this level, you have to battle the giant, hideous mutant (it's been said that this mutant is from whence all the other mutant eggs have sprung!) and have your last showdown with Natla! (What, she's still alive???)

Okay, this mutant is huge, grotesque and very dangerous, but she's slow and stupid, so as long as you don't let her get near enough to grab you or knock you over the edge, you will be okay, but it's going to take some firepower to kill her! You can either use the shotgun and run out of her way when she gets near, or use the Uzis and jump around from corner to corner (there are six sets of Uzi clips lying around the ledge). Either way, it's going to take a while, so take whichever option you're more comfortable with! Be careful not to jump over the edge, though! (My daughter stands at the left-corner edge opposite the door using the shotgun, and when the mutant nears, she puts it away and drops and hangs off the edge until it moves away again. But a word of warning...once when she did this, the mutant still grabbed her!)

You'll know when to stop shooting as when the mutant has had enough, she'll start to fall (oh, now we feel sorry for her?) and then she'll explode. When this has happened, you can start to pick up all the ammo lying in the corners of the room and exit through the door that just opened. Slide down the ramp to the left, past the block and down the next ramp. Keep going and push the next moveable block you come to three times. Go up the ramp on the right and turn a corner to another moveable block (the first one you passed.). Push it once then go around to the right and climb up it.

Turn around and jump to grab the ledge ahead and pull up into a hallway with a cracked floor and clanging blades...I strongly suggest you use the save crystal you find here! Now, when the blades clang together, they always make two clanging noises..stand at the edge of the cracked floor and when you hear the second clang of the blades, run forward through them and around the next corner.

To the right of the ramp is a black and white corridor...go down it and push the block you find once. Return and slide down the ramp you just missed, at the bottom of which is the block you just pushed. There's a lever above on the right wall, so push the block twice until it's under the lever, then turn and take the passageway to the right. Now you need to come back down the ramp and stand on the block you just moved to pull the lever. This opens the red door opposite.

Go through into a room with sloping, sandy ledges and another river of lava running down the middle of the room. Turn right and jump to the flat ledge ahead, then again to the next. From there, run and jump and jump to the next, then turn around to see a timed bridge that's just been raised! Go back the way you came to land on the bridge and run through the doorway on the right. Now you're in a cave with the first secret - a large medipack, magnum clips and shotgun shells. Pick up everything up then pull the lever twice to set part of the bridge over the lava river. (If you're fast enough, you may be able to make it back across the bridge before it closes, without the need to pull the lever!) Run and jump back over the lava and make your way back along the right-hand side of the river, then take a standing jump over to the other side to enter the tunnel.

As you enter, a boulder will roll down, so roll and run forward and right into the doorway to avoid it. Go up to where the boulder just came from and then up a smaller ramp. The next ramp is another boulder trap, so turn around and jump backwards up the ramp until you hear it released then run forward and to the left out of the way! At the top of the ramp is a passageway to another cracked floor...step onto it, jump back then, with full health, drop down into the room below when the floor has broken away.

This is the scion room....when you shoot it, the area begins to quake, but you should be okay...use the save crystal before you shoot it, then keep going. There are three mutants in the area beyond this room, but you should only have to deal with two of them (unless you are going for all the kills). When you've got their attention, retreat to the doorway and shoot them from there. Drop down onto the dark rocks below the bridge, find an opening in the ground and drop through it. This area is horrendous...filled with countless traps, so be prepared not to make it the first time!

There's a crevice on the wall to the left...run, jump and grab it, shimmy along past the wall darts, drop down onto the slope, immediately backflip to the ledge behind, then jump back straight away to avoid the dart trap! Enter the doorway and pick up the Uzi clips. Walk down the the right hand side of the ramp to avoid another boulder, then stand as close as possible to the swinging blade on the left, wait for it to swing to the left then jump past it! WALK through the spikes, turn left and continue to the top of the slope on the left.

Ahead are three cracked tiles...stand at the top edge of the ramp and take one WALKING step back. Jump forward to land on the left-hand tile, then immediately flip to the right then jump forward to the ledge ahead. In the next room are three sloping blocks standing in a pool of lava. To make your way across to the ledge over the lava pool, walk to the left, as near to the wall as you can get. Jump back once, then sidestep to the right as far as you can. Turn very slightly to the right and look up at the wall ahead, In it is a very small crevice that widens as it goes along the wall...that's what you're aiming for! Jump forward to grab it, then shimmy right along and drop down to find the second secret. Pick up the three large medipacks and the Uzi clips, then walk to the edge, facing the sloping blocks down below, one of which has a save crystal. Jump forward, keeping the jump button pressed to flip back and save your game!

Jump to grab the crevice in the wall ahead, shimmying along as far as you can, to stop above the cracked tiles. When you drop onto them, you're going to have to flip twice to the right to avoid a boulder, so keep the jump and right button pressed when you've let go of the crevice!

Jump past the swinging blade as you did the last one you encountered, then stop. Ahead is a ramp to the left and a boulder on the right. Down the ramp is an alcove on the right...run down and into this so the boulder rolls past you. If you want the small medipack, jump between the boulder and the corner of the alcove to retrieve it, then jump back again.
The Great Pyramid - Part 2
The next area contains a ramp with a boulder, another blade and several lava pits round about! To avoid the boulder, stand to one side of the ramp, slide down and jump at the very bottom to land on the block ahead...you won't have time to pull up if you grab the edge, so time it right! Jump down to the left and enter the next doorway. This room looks worse than it is, but you still need to be careful. There's a small medipack in the centre which you should be able to pick up without harm. Run forward, pick up the medipack as the lava stops behind Lara, do a standing jump forward then run to the next doorway, hopefully missing the lava as you go! Now pull the lever to open the door.

Go through and turn right, picking up the Uzi clips at the end of the passage. Now for another boulder trap! The door you just came through has now closed, so run past it and stop at the edge of the lava pit...a boulder will roll past then you can jump forward to grab the other edge, waiting for another boulder to pass before you pull up. Continue to a room with a pool of water and several pillars with fire-torches on top! Climb up the first one, to the side to avoid the fire, line Lara up with the next pillar, then take standing jumps across the next five blocks to get across.

In the next room is a swinging blade in front of a structure and above a cracked floor. Walk down and stand in front of the cracked tiles on the floor. Jump back once, then take two WALKING steps back. Run and jump forward, keeping both forward and jump pressed so Lara runs and jumps forward twice to land in the opening ahead. OR, you can walk to the edge, take a standing jump to grab the cracked floor, then pull up and take a running jump into the alcove. Now you've found the third secret, a large medipack and two sets of Uzi clips. (The game is bugged here and the secret nay not register.) Return to the doorway, stand at the edge and jump forward into the pool of water below. Find the Uzi clips on the bottom and follow the underwater passage until you can surface. Climb out to find four more sets of Uzi clips and another save crystal.

Natla is waiting in the next room, so draw weapons and advance...she appears from the left and above as she now has wings and can shoot fire! She needs to be felled twice before you can relax, so make sure you have enough ammo and health and start shooting, jumping around to avoid her missiles...when she falls for the second time, you're safe!

The game exit is at the top of the area, so find some climbable blocks in one of the corners and jump into the doorway beyond, pressing action to land correctly. Follow the passage and run and jump from the next doorway to the pillar ahead, then another to the one on the left. Jump from there to the pillar below the doorway and pull up into it. From here you come to an opening in the floor...drop down to another pillar. Turn around, run and jump to the next pillar ahead and to the left, and another to the next, then run, jump and grab, and then pull up into another doorway. This passageway takes you to an opening where you can drop down onto the highest pillar in the room. From that, run and jump over to the ledge, pull up into the next opening and follow the passage to a long ramp. Slide down to end the level and finish the game!

WELL DONE! NOW RELAX FOR ANOTHER MOVIE CLIP, AND GIVE YOURSELF A PAT ON THE BACK...OR BETTER STILL, BUY THE NEXT GAME! :-) Or restart this one and you should now have all weapons and unlimited ammo!

The last movie clip sees Lara escaping from the island just in time!

The guide doesn't say how to solve the Thor room puzzle. How do I safely get past the lightning ball?
