Aeon Path: Code of Drezen
By GrandMajora
Alright, so a lot of people in the forums seem to have a problem with the whole 'law and order' thing, often perceiving the Lawful options as being too cruel or unjust. Unfortunately for them, an Aeon doesn't care about your personal feelings on the matter. The law is the law, and people are going to follow it, whether they like it or not!

So, in order to help clarify what rules you are meant to enforce on this path, I've decided to create a guide listing all the laws in the Code of Mendev. This book can be obtained from your bedroom after committing to the Aeon path in Drezen, but this should provide an easier reference for those who are considering taking this path.

all i'm wondering is when i found this book and read it, the combat log says "you learned somethhing new from this book".
and whenever it says that, it usually adds a new "perk" to your list of abilities, but this one added nothing and all google searches turn up with zero info, except one brought me here

Law has nothing to do with "good" or "morality". Why do people ignore that Aeon is True Lawful(another name for LN)? What's unclear about that? Ok, Aeon's mindset is kinda alien, but I can follow it no problem(I just agree with most Devil options). Maybe it is a player issue?

From what I have read about the Aeon Path, it is a path of Lawful Neutral alignment. Performing the responsibilities of your office without regard for the morality of it is the defining characteristic of a Lawful Neutral alignment in DnD, and I presume, Pathfinder as well.

Think: Prelate Hurlon to have an idea as to what you will be doing, except for the part where he never investigates before he sentences.

If people do not like such a play-style, I have heard that you can use your powers to help people, it will just get you considered a "Renegade Aeon" rather than a "True Aeon" and will affect the ending.

In regards to mortal laws, who's to say what's ultimately just or unjust? There are countless different cultures and nations who all have their own take on the issue. Why are some laws deemed more 'valid' or 'justified' than others? Trying to Impose your own idealism of right and wrong upon the rest of the world is known as 'colonialism.' The laws that I wrote up above are the laws which the people of Drezen are expected to abide by, so those are the laws which the True Aeon path is meant to enforce.

oh ok, i didn't pick up that you were talking about specific in-game mechanics, i thought this was like a weird "roleplay gatekeeping" type of thing which is why i was talking more about different ways of perceiving what it meant to be a keeper of cosmic balance.

so what you're saying is that, essentially, you can't follow the Aeon path unless you strictly abide by the laws the mortals wrote up? if so, that's pretty dumb seems how some laws aren't exactly balanced. i would think a cosmic embodiment of balance and law would understand that mortals aren't omniscient and their laws might need some amending here and there lol

In the case of the crusades and its military tribunal, you must enforce the laws that I wrote up above. That's the whole point of me writing this guide in the first place. Outside of that, you will occasionally find instances where the laws of reality itself have been broken and need to be fixed.

For example, you can use your Aeon powers to travel back in time, reverse Xanthir's transformation into a swarm, and convince him to stop working on his research into Nahyndrian crystals for Areelu. It doesn't completely stop the creation of Mythic demons, but it does make the process significantly harder for the invaders to replicate.

who's law though? human's? nothing i said had personal feelings in mind at all. if a soldier of drezen was corrupt and tried to kill a citizen and the citizen defended themselves and killed the soldier in the process, the law states the citizen must be sentenced to death- even if there were witnesses to confirm self defense. if the Aeon stands by that then it sounds more lawful evil than true neutral.

Ahem, as I said before "the Aeon doesn't care about your personal feelings on the matter." The law is the law. Obey it, or suffer the consequences. End of story.

ok but like. what if the laws aren't actually just? where there are man made laws, there are those that exploit them to gain and hold power over others, shouldn't it be the Aeon's duty to correct that even if that person wasn't breaking any of the written laws? i interpreted the Aeon more about maintaining the "cosmic" laws, not whatever laws some politicians decide to enact.

Can we get a more practical Aeon guide not do with roleplay but more on builds: I may play the path BUT I'll be using Toybox to stop Camellia from leaving me and I'm not going to follow it strictly as in Halrun will still die in any playthrough regardless of alignment as I simply hate the guy and really don't think anything good would come of sparing his life, also he is rude, cruel and just straight up not likeable he is like Nazeem in Skyrim would you let Nazeem survive the whole game? Nope you would kill him as soon as it is practical to do so (As in when you have high enough steath skill to pull it off without getting a bounty and you finish any quests involving him if you are running mods that involve him as part of a quest) and the game gives you both a practical opportunity to kill him and more then enough reasons to kill him.
