Changing the FoV
After looking for a solution for a while, I finally found out how to change the FoV, and it is so simple!

To change your FoV, you need to download the following program:
Flawlesswidescreen

Due to the Steam filter, I cannot link the program directly, but if you use Google, it will be your first hit! This program can also be used for many other games.

Step 1
Download the program, and when the download is complete, start both the program and the game.

Step 2
Type "Singularity" into the search box of the program, then click on it. The program will install the plug-in, and when that is done, you will see a screen. This screen shows you all the different options you have. On the first page, you can change the resolution of the game, but what you want is on the second page. Voilà! There it is, the FoV changer. Adjust it as you wish, and it will automatically apply to your game. Have fun!

Reminder: This guide is intended to save you time. Instead of spending time searching Google for a solution and encountering posts claiming it's impossible, you can follow these simple steps and start enjoying the game right away.

for anyone trying to do this while using proton on linux: i was able to set up https://github.com/dlrudie/WidescreenFixer/releases as a custom forked command with steam tinker launch to fix the fov: https://github.com/frostworx/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Custom-Program
flawless widescreen wouldn't work for me :(

@Toothĺess the Wise
your address didn't work for me but i went through the process as you described and for me it was address 066401EC, so the "01EC" seems to be a good indicator

For those not wanting to use proprietary software to change the FOV and use Cheat Engine instead-

The base FOV value is a float of value 65. The address seems to always be 039A01EC.

How I got the value -

Simply looking up 65.0000 in float in CE and pressing next a couple of times while playing will narrow it down to about ~100 values.

Zoom in with the first pistol you get and 5 values should be changing (down to 48). The value above the 5 values is the base FOV. Change it to 110 or whatever FOV you prefer.

This still makes guns zoom to whatever FOV they're set to (ie handgun to 48).

If you don't understand what I just said, this post is not for you, just use one of the two mentioned tools.

If Flawless Widescreen doesn't work, try Widescreen Fixer {LINK REMOVED}.
