Foreword
If you are a veteran, you do not need this.

This guide addresses several common issues which can be observed after the game's version 3.9.0.0 patch. After further analysis and consideration of the information I have collected, including testing and confirming the workarounds, I have decided to make this guide for future reference.

This guide can be considered an addon to my other guides - while it does address mainly issues for the post patch period of 3.9.0.0 I see the information you can find here valuable to address recurring issues, some even confirmed to repeat after each major patch or update.

The official patch notes can be found here:

1. Assumptions I make about You
a) You did verify your game's files
Here is the official manual how you do verify your game's files:
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335

b) Your gaming device is otherwise okay
and you have not suffered any other issues before

If the last one is not the case I recommend to cover the basics first.
2. Crashes at Start & Connection Issues
In regards if the crashes there has been the suspicion mentioned, that at some point during the release of the update the authentification server(s) who handles the DRM somewhatsomething had been overloaded (again).
Since that has happened before without any official details, the suspicion is not that far fetched and it would explain soundly why some reported cases just suddenly ceased over time.

Similar it is in regards with Connection Issues. To play online properly everyone needs the latest version of the game. It might be as well that the matchmaking servers where at that point of time still updating or having issues themselves with an unknown number of players still online using the old version.

Think of it as this: online service games like Lost Ark or whatsoever go offline for multiple hours on a regular basis to apply patches. Monster Hunter Rise did not, along with all the issues it brought.

3. Grainyness & Bad Fur Day
When the game got updated, do not think of the game got updated. Think of 3.9.0.0 as a new entity which replaced 3.6.1.1. Treat it like a new game. Some PCs seems to handle that better than other. If you experiences weird grains or bad fur shades after the patch, it is a graphics card issue.

Force the graphics card via the game to recompile the shaders. That should do the trick. You can enforce the recompilation by deleting the existing shader files which you can find here:

..\Steam\steamapps\shadercache\1446780\ <--- all folders

..\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterRise\ <--- shader.cache*

OR in your Steam Library folders if you used individual pathing and additional folders throughout your hardware.

4. Profiling Graphics / Performance Drop
Same like before. Treat it like a new game. And as mentioned in one of my older guides, the game seems to have a weird profile system which results in cascade reactions, depending on the settings you made.

The best course of action would be here:

1. Revert all settings to default.

2. Save and restart your PC
(yes, yes, restarting your game does suffice - but people restart their PC so rarely that I recommend it like this, to outrule related issues - like two birds with a stone thingy).

3. Approach the game by setting the settings slowly high
What do I mean by that?
Instead of just copying what you had before, adjust it like you did it the first time. There is a chance that some settings were faulty before (gameside wise) which got fixed by the developers. You adjusted accordingly to counter that faulty setting might be now causing a new faulty setting.

Right now there is a common issue with frame rates drops, related to image scaling quality. A setting which seemingly has been fixed by the developers.

The officials have made finally a pinned thread - long after the topic was covered on this guide

Imagine it like you had a bad tire with your car and you did drive special to cover that issue. If you keep driving that special it might lead to new issues with a new and fixed tire.

After all, you would not use rain tires on a sunny track, right?

So those who used the settings from before are most likely to be affected.
Checking all settings anew to be on the safe side makes sense.
5. HDR
Similar issues can be observed with the HDR functionality of the game. The feature is still there and it still works. But it seems like the game - or/and Windows - do not know each other anymore. If the described method as above did not work already for you, check your config file for "HDROption=1" and set the value from "1" to "0". Also make sure to check also the settings with Windows that HDR is enabled. From the sound of some threads it is like, what the game force-enabled before now needs additional user input (act of consent).

Your game's config file can be found here:

..\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterRise\config.ini

OR to be found in your Steam Library folders if you used individual pathing and additional folders throughout your hardware.

6. Unclear New Content Issues
There have been hints of issues related to new content. Not a sort of issue which is caused by misleading popup but actually new content issue as in new usable DLC content which is free.

So far the reports were rare and leave room to suggestion. Just be warned and observe, if you experience anything like that. I recommend to make a backup of your save game, just in case, before approaching the new content.

While I do not know if the save game issue still persist, the information in my guide to prevent save game loss is still applicable and useful for that matter:
https://cs2bus.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2743342837

My recommendation: just make a copy & paste manual backup if you have not been affected before. That should do the trick.

In addition to that, it might make sense to make a backup of the config.ini which you can find in the game's folder.

..\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterRise\config.ini

OR to be found in your Steam Library folders if you used individual pathing and additional folders throughout your hardware.

That file contains the app's setup information.
7. Reinstall, But Properly
It is a known thing that there are usually leftover files which can cause issues when you reinstall the game with all good intentions. I recommend the usage of RevoUninstaller, a freeware available as portable app.

It is also known that a clean reinstall often fixes issues - it is just that most who claim it does not never did a clean reinstall. They just thought they did...
8. Mods after Patches
Considering the very nature of mods - them altering game files either directly or indirectly - please keep in mind that you might need to "reinstall the mods" or even wait for an update of the mods you are using, every time the game gets patched.

I recommend for every patch therefore: uninstall all mods before applying a patch, then verify your game's files first - once that is done and you made sure your game is working fine, reinstall one mod after another, step by step so you can exclude any faulty mod should you notice the game is having issues.

Some mod tips to improve your gaming experience by addressing common issues, without actually changing the vanilla gameplay, can be found with my Technical First Aid guide.

9. Tips for making a Report Post
These tips are for when you need to make a "Report a Problem" within the forums:
https://cs2bus.com/app/1446780/discussions/1/

That is in case the workarounds described here did not suffice to help you with your issue. The tips are to be understood as recommendation to make it easier for you and those who help you as well as the developers. I can only encourage you to keep them in mind.

===========================================

a) Make your own thread for your own issue.
It is just logical to go with a thread someone else already did, if you have the very identical issue. But that is only a rare case. Most players have very similar issues, but hardly ever identical. Unlike with console games there are too many factors which can affect your issue. So while one who has the similar issue which sounds identical got solved theirs by restarting their PC, yours might need e.g. an update for a sound driver.

Also, a matter for developers: one thread with e.g. 30 posts from 15 people, where the majority is from three specific players, means much less than 10 threads by 10 different people.

b) Submit the relevant details as in

mainboard model type
RAM size and model type
CPU model type
GPU card model type
OS type whether Home or Pro, 10 or 11 - important for TMP
graphics driver version - recommended due circumstances
Storage type
Security Software brand

If you are unsure, use CPU-Z, GPU-Z, aida64 and alike. Those are from what I know free software (except aida64 - but trial version suffices) which are even available as portable apps. While you are at it, I recommend CrystalDisk to check on your storage's health.

The freeware are simple enough to use, and yet essential for providing important hints towards PC issues. Hence the recommendation to have them ready.

c) Keep your post updated.
A lot of forums users often post something and leave it. Whether due lack of interest or their issue has been resolved. If you are done with seeking consultation let others know by marking the answer to your thread or just by commenting. In many cases it could be helpful for other players who experience the same issues.
10. Sunbreak Release
Obviously the early announcement you are greeted with when starting the game after applying the patch is a mistake. The expansion will be released around summer 2022.

Afterword
This guide is made so you can easily share it with fellow hunters who might need assisstance.
It also serves as future reference for players, bug hunters and developers alike.

I hope you will need these kind of information only once.

Happy Hunting!
