If you're stumbling across this guide, then I think it's safe to assume that you've experienced the shared annoyance that is SteamVR launching with NMH3 EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

So you may be wondering, after having suffered a pain worse than death, "Why has God forsaken us so?" To that, I respond with the somewhat-comforting knowledge that such misfortune was not the result of your own actions, but of those who crafted this PC port of NMH3.

As I am not a professional Unreal Engine 4 programmer, nor can I crank 90s in little-known indie title Fortnite, but I will do my best to sum up the issue:

Likely what happened is the studio who did the port accidentally left some VR plugins enabled.

Yup. That's all.

Thankfully, this problem can be solved with a quick and simple fix applied to the Launch Options of the game.

(Plus, this same fix can be applied to any other Steam game you may be having the same issue with.)

First, you'll want to go to your library page for NMH3 and click on the settings cog wheel on the far right. In the context menu that pops up, click on Properties.


Next, you'll want to make sure you're on the General tab of the game properties. Head on down to the Launch Options[/] text box and prepare to enter the Secret Code.


The secret code, of course, being:

-nohmd

When done correctly, it should look like this:


There's no need to save anything, just close the Properties window and start the game!
