Introduction
Many people out there think war robots is garbage and so are p2w but I have seen some p2w feel that war robots is great and that f2p are whiny that they have to spend money to get the best stuff fast. Well ignoring everyone's opinion this is how I feel about the game as a free to play! I am going to start from positive to negative so bear with me! I had to rewrite this three times so I hope you enjoy reading this! Let me know if I missed something! 👍
Positives out of a match (stuff you would do in the hangar)
1. Winning a something you always wanted or needed (though my friend was not quite so lucky my friend was commenting about how the pilot was garbage and then the literal next hundred chest they opened was that same pilot they were complaining about 🤣).
2. Admiring the background and hangar changes that each event does.
3. Enjoying the main menu theme.
4. Enjoying special main menu themes that come from events.
5. The huge variety of mechs and weapons that fit any playstyle that someone likes to do whether it be healing or ambush.
6. Speaking of weapons there are so many kinds as well that shoot so many kinds of ammuntion like lobs of fire, missiles, lasers, bullets, lobs of liquid nitrogen or whatever the cyro type weapons shoot and more!
7. Being able to look at one of your build in a full 360 view (though you do not get to view it when its ability is active except for the scorpion.)
8. Winning a leaderboard (when it does not require extreme grinding and does not have pay to win people on it so basically never).
9. Having paint jobs on your mechs to make them unique and even get a bonus for the special version of a paint job (just ignore the price tag for buying the 5% extra health)
10. Being in a clan to do tomfoolery.
11. Having benefits by being in a clan.
12. Receiving a free item from Pixonic even though you may never wanted it or will use it (Minos anyone? Am I the only one that dislikes the Minos and the squall are ineffective on any of my titans?)
13. Enjoying the nice wallpapers.
14. Receiving 100 keys for doing nothing.
15. Free stuff from the daily drops.
16....That is all of the positive things I can think of the hangar area
Positives in a match
1. Dropping your titan and demolishing all those mk3 hangars who were abusing you and winning the game because of your titan (never gonna happen but I can dream can't I?)
actual number 1. Running around a free to play with a 15 player kill streak
2. When your entire team is menders with gray damage healing and some serious firepower.
3. When a mender sticks with you the entire game and saves you from certain death multiple times.
4. When you are playing that mender that saves everyone from certain doom.
5. Doing extermination (there are some many rewards! I can squeak by and get 1,450 keys, 200 plat. from doing it!)
6. Doing a custom game with friends doing tomfoolery.
7. Having a team that plays together amazingly.
8. Throwing enemies across the map.
9. Destroying the people who teamed against in free for all.
10. Reminding people with meta robots that you should still fear the Ao Ming.
11. Watching the graphics and physics be like:
Negative in a match
1. Being curbstomped by a sonic rook or the newton titan zeus weapons.
2. Being curbstomped by mk3 hangars.
3. Taking literally two steps out of spawn and being melted by the behemoth prisma build or frozen then melted by Erebus prisma build (did you know that Erebus is actually the god of a dark region of the underworld and the personification of darkness?).
4. Getting targeted by everyone in an FFA.
5. Right about to get a kill an then some random person steals my kill (it hurts more when the person I was killing was a high level fenrir with the Bernadette Wolff pilot)
6. Right about to finish a hard challenge but a teammate stops you from doing that MULTIPLE TIMES.
7. Indras (they are about as nearly as painful to fight as rooks luchadors right below the Indra)
Negatives out of a match
1. The p2w cycle of releasing overpowered crap, selling it, releasing something new, then nerfing used to be overpowered crap into just crap.
2. Mk3 token, let me get this straight you want to spend all the time and effort of getting something to mk2 lvl 12 and then I have to earn upgrade tokens where i need more than one? WHAT!?
3. Memorium (need i say more?).
4. Nerfing equipment that did not need nerfing example the nether is having its force field weakened by 60% and it loses more health as well?! And it has a 10 second recharge per charge and it is slower?!
5. Events mostly stink the reason I say mostly is because of that small chance to actually get something good but the overall reason why they suck is because you mostly end up winning copies of pilots that you already have, pilots for mechs you do not have and will probably never get until months later, or 250 components for something. Even during that one event where you always won something did anyone notice the drop rates were like a 95% chance of just having rust weapons show up? The rust weapons that conveniently got nerfed with extremely slow fire rate and the same damage and reload time so they were basically almost like hitting an enemy with a toy hammer?
6. Event passes, grinding hard challenges for only 5 bronze token that have like an 85% chance to give me 250 components for something thank you but hard pass (fyi I would have to open 40 chests to get one weapon at 250 components of the same weapon per chest)
7. Superchest, the only option to open this is to grind nonstop for a month for a f2p of course, only to get a mech at lvl 1 with tier one stuff that would not last for heartbeat in a match.
8. Workshop, there is a chapter dedicated to this.
9. turret deletion
10. Winning something for free that you already spent time and dedication making for months (my fafnir is a good example of this, made it and won the paint job for it just to have it handed to me for free in the anniversary event.)
11. In the bingo cell of every event winning components for the frozen scorn that is already maxed out.
12. Trashing weapons that costed millions of silver to make or a unique hard to get weapon is
is a lot like the meme pawn shop "best i can do is...." in this case getting a return of a 100,000 silver.
13. Spending a year to get and a sonic scorpion just to see it in shop for mk2 special edition stuff for 10 dollars or 9.24 euros.
14. This clan challenge: "kill 5 enemies in the first 45 seconds of game 5 times"
15. Titles, some of them are just impossible for f2p to have
Why I hate workshop....
For those who looked in the shop and saw an awesome deal for something like a sonic scorpion build or a behemoth guass, etc, you might be wondering "how long is it going to take and how much silver is it going to cost to get 'blank'. " Well, here is a sample as to how much, I am going to use a scourge, havoc, nightingale, and a falcon as examples. (t4 weapon, t5 weapon, t5 mech, and t4 mech respectably) Let's say you have 1 slot in workshop, and you want to make one t4 item (either mech or weapon) it will take 125 days assuming you collect every day; now if you have six slots available it will take 20.8333.... days or rounding 21 days (this math is for the one day option not the three day because in the three day options you lose around 10 components then doing every day collections). Now lets say you want to make a t5 item (either mech or weapons), one slot in workshop= 166.66... rounded 167 days, six slots in workshop= 27.77... rounded 28 days. This is the same for both mechs and weapons which is quite frustrating since it will take around 5ish months for sonic scorpion build. Now if you are not having a heart attack at the math so far as to how long it takes then here's the math as to how much it costs to just make the item: a scourge costs 17,500,000 silver, falcon costs 25,000,000 silver, havoc costs 25,050,000 silver (estimate), nightingale costs 48,430,000 silver (estimate). Recap that is the math for just making it. Now for the cost to upgrade a falcon, scourge, nightingale, havoc to mk2 or to mk2 lvl 12. Just getting to mk2 costs: falcon= 135,700,000 silver, scourge= 135,700,000 silver, nightingale= 198,700,000, and havoc= 170,700,000. The total cost to get an item from mk1 lvl 1 to mk2 lvl 12: falcon= 270,700,000, scourge=270,700,000, nightingale=396,200,000, and havoc=340,700,000. The time of just pure waiting/upgrade for getting the items to mk2 is: falcon= 18 days and 20 hours, scourge= 19 days and 20 hours, nightingale=39 days and 5 hours, and havoc= 30 days and 11 hours. The total time of waiting/upgrading to get an item from mk1 lvl1 to mk2 lvl 12: falcon= 36 days and 20 hours, scourge= 28 days and 32 hours, nightingale= 58 days and 5 hours, and havoc=45 days and 11 hours. For those p2w are you feeling empathetic for the f2p or disgusted at pixionic yet? For those f2p are you feeling disgusted yet about how many hours it is so far taking? Well here is the finishing blow, If I wanted to finish getting my deck to mk2 lvl 12 (it consists of nether spear build, seraph decay, mender needle/spike “note: those are the weapons I want, I only have one needle”, scorpion sonic build, and fainter/skadi fafnir) it will cost= 7,306,700,000 silver (estimate and does not include building costs ex. I built the scorpion and havocs) and the time for upgrading will take= 997 days (estimate). Note this does not consist of drones/titan/pilots/and tokens for mk3 so make sure to keep that in mind.

Props for breaking down the time. IMO the real big down side with the time investment is the mobile version incentives you to watch adds by cutting that time down by 4h an ad. From what I've looked into this will not happen for steam so if you really plan on putting a ton of time in this game it's worth messing with an emulator.

I wish they would give us more gold or keys to match the progress rate but I suspect someone needs to pitch an idea that makes money for them. My idea would be a stripped down version that's just the garage and micro transactions so they can sell us ads.

Cool game tho. I put in about 20-25 hours f2p and the first $10 feels pretty good for a gotya game.
