What do you mean, New Game Plus?
Perhaps you're like me, and you've reached the end of the game. You'd like to play through again to reach a different ending, and follow the story with the the benefit of context. But you don't really want to start from scratch, and maybe you want to keep tinkering with the gear system now that you're kind of starting to get it.

Here's the plan: We're going to start a new game, but modify the new save so it has all the equipment and inventory from our old save.

Is this cheating? Sure is! But don't worry, I won't tell if you won't.

Here's the high level rundown:

  • Find where the saves are kept (%LOCALAPPDATA%\VvtZ\)
  • Set up your old save so that you know where it is (Last slot works great)
  • (Also unequip all your items so they're in your inventory)
  • Set up your new fresh save so you can modify it
  • Find and copy over the section of the save.txt that has your inventory
  • Done!

If that's enough for you, go forth! If you need more detail, keep reading.
Detailed Instructions
Find where the saves are kept (%LOCALAPPDATA%\VvtZ\)
Simple as! Just plug in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\VvtZ\
into your File Explorer address bar. Should take you to a folder with files that look like save0.txt. As you might have guessed, these correspond to your save slots.

Set up your old save so that you know where it is (Last slot works great)
Load your last save, or whatever save you want to base your "New Game Plus" off of.

Equipped items aren't stored in the "inventory" in the save file, so if you want to bring over your equipped items, be sure to unequip them.

Once you've removed your equipped items, save the game -- I would recommend doing it in the last slot of the last page, or at least after every other save you have, so that it'll be the last save[number].txt

Set up your new fresh save so you can modify it
Start a new game and save it. I recommend the first slot, so it'll be save0.txt

Find and copy over the section of the save#.txt that has your old save
You're looking for the line that starts with:
"inventory": [
You want to copy everything down to the
],
after the last item. It should appear directly before this line:
"blackhole_save": {

This'll be easiest if you have an IDE rather than just notepad, but if you do you're probably not reading this.

Open the new fresh save file -- save0.txt if you followed my advice. Replace the inventory list (which should be empty at this point) with the inventory from your old save.

Done!
The game will obviously be substantially easier, but using the high-level equipment can be tricky to start, since the negative modifiers can be rather severe at lower levels.

And yes, you can in fact edit your save to have whatever you'd like, not just old equipment -- I did say this was cheating.

Sequence-breaking
Carrying over your entire inventory includes key items; this means some quests can be bypassed entirely. Spoilers follow, naturally.

- You can equip Khyrsomallo the Golden Alpaca immediately. You can skip doing the Alpaca Labyrinth entirely if you wish. You can get a second Golden Alpaca in your inventory, but it won't do anything for you besides look awkward.
- You can immediately proceed to Taurus upon entering the Venusian Woods without ringing the bells throughout the Woods to collect Resonance; in addition, ringing a bell with enough Resonance to proceed will teleport you to the main entrance.
