The game is technically pretty messed up and there are several guides and discussion threads that could be very overwhelming for a gamer who just wants to play the damn game, Thanks Activision!
Most of those guides tell so many scripts or processes to run that isn't practical for most users. So I scanned through all of them to find the best solution out there on the internet so you don't have to!

• Game crashes on loading
  
• Modern resolution isn't supported
  
• Terrible FPS

Go to Steam Library > Prototype > Right Click > Manage > Browse Local Files
Copy & replace prototypeenginef.dll and dinput8.dll from the Prototype Fix.zip to the game directory
(use 7-zip or similar program)

Start the game normally and set your resolution. Please note that I have kept the original FOV of the game. You can change the resolution from the Settings menu.

IMPORTANT:
If you experience severe mouse stutters, then use a different high-quality mouse or controller. If none of that helps, go to the downloaded zip file and open the Standard Fix folder. Copy and replace prototypeenginef.dll from the same folder to your game location and play. (But now the game would run in low FPS).
Some people report that running OBS in the background helps with this issue, but the chance is pretty low.
