This is 'pants-down' one of the lamest promotions I've seen in the last 24 hours.
While one way to figuratively get someone to move faster is to "light a fire under their ass". But "figuratively" and "literally" are now synonymous, so perhaps that's why pants are needed to go faster; The previous pair of pants pyrotechnically poofed. When speed is increased and sustained for a fixed time, one starts to pant.
