Facts and diaries are unlocked as you progress through the game, whereas items are in-game collectibles that have to be found during your playthrough before they can be viewed. For a while, the Steam version of Valiant Hearts: The Great War had no achievements; however, in 2025, Ubisoft decided to retroactively add achievements to this game, and some of these achievements are unlocked by collecting items and reading facts.

Since this guide is merely focused on providing readers with the content of the entries, I will not be including the whereabouts of the collectibles here. If you would like to find these items but aren't sure how to get them all, please check out the Guides section of Valiant Hearts for their locations.
