It's extremely simple:

First, download the demo version of the FUEL game on your account or in another Steam account, using this command in the browser to install it:

steam://install/12850

Note! If the full version of FUEL is already activated on your main account, you will not be able to install the demo version, use another account to do this. If you don't have one, ask a friend to help you. You can also completely delete the game from your account, download the demo version, and then restore the full version to your account. Don't be afraid, it's easy and fast to do in the Steam support section with a few mouse clicks.
When you download the demo version, copy it to a secure location.
You just activate and install the game normally and overwrite these three files in the FULL game folder with the same three files from the demo game folder and it will simply work by itself:

FUEL.EXE
SETUP.CFG
FEUL.exe.cfg

So, if you have one folder with the full version of the game and one with the demo version, you just drag these three files from the demo to the folder with the full game, and everything just works... The size of all three files is less than 1 megabyte.

All done!

Hello everyone, Steam recently changed how demos work and now they can coexist with your main game.
So the "deactivate or ask a friend" is not needed anymore, just follow the steam link command above and it will install the demo alongside your main game.

Ok I figured it out it's SwitchCameraUser 0 command if you press Y with debug mode on.
For some reason W and S movement isn't working and going up and down is really slow.

RSCM 15 How did you activate freecam? I have the REFUELED Debug installed the Patch #5 version but I don't see any freecam option.

Kinda a late update, but the demo version is actually really interesting. For one, you can explore the entire map in freecam with the REFUELED debug freecam, everything in the game is rendered. Every building, landmark, even the camps themselves are rendered. The whole map is rendered too. The only thing I noticed that was missing was the tunnel you drive through in one of the career races in Redrock Bluffs, where you race a bunch of monster trucks.

I'm surprised the demo download is still available, even at the tail end of 2024! I already sunk 5 hours into it using REFUELED's debug menu and exploring the entire game in freecam.
